Edoropolis Emporium

Since I got busy with my drawings for a while, here are two of my first ever SPC fan art... of none other than Guido Anchovy!

I did two versions of the same pic:

(can't describe the second version but it's got the colour blue splattered all over it!)

I'm also working on a third version which will be coloured the way it should be. Comments and criticism are welcome of course!

Nice! Design seems spot on, linework is nice and clean. Some of the lines actually look a bit more correct in the "sketchy" version, though. For example, his "backback" looks a little crooked in the B&W lineart version, but looks fine in the sketchy version. But maybe it's just my eyes playing tricks on me, or I'm interpreting some of the lines incorrectly.

I'll be looking forward to seeing the colored version! :)

However, whenever I penned over my pencil sketches, it's not usually that good. I prefer the looseness of the pencil rather than pen, unless the inking is done better. But never fear - small mistakes will turn out fine in the coloured version.
I also done some of my own reference drawings for the SPC before drawing  =], all in anime style. Some of  ;], a couple of  ;) but I haven't got round to do Big Cheese yet (ahem!)

Ha, very cool! :D Great work on the facial expressions. I like how you made Polly's tail all "kinky", that was always one of my favorite details on how the animators depicted the cats when shocked or startled. That Guru Lou just can't keep his hands to himself, can he? At least this time they're in a slightly less inappropriate place than they often are. *ahem*  He really needs to learn the meaning of the term "personal space". And Guido shows us how wielding an umbrella, while an unorthodox choice for a weapon, has its advantages.

Poor girl... I've just finished reading through Jonas Miles' awesome fanfic today and I loved how the characters were handled. This is unfinished though, but might get round to colour it. So what do ya think, everyone? Colour or leave it as it is?

Yeah! I thought about that since I finished reading the story. Y' know, some illustrations would really captivate people who have read the story or not. And I take the colouring thing as a 'yes', right?  ;-)

I reckon fanfiction needs more illustrations.  :P

Haven't read this fanfic, but the drawing is nice! She's very cute, but the expression on her face makes it clear she means business.

Nice sketch, but the :francine:'s tail lacks bell in its extremity.

 8O Whoops! How on earth did I not notice  :francine:'s bell on her tail? That notches the 'cute' factor up 10% in my book! Yup! The next picture will make up for that little mistake, I promise.

Nice work on the two colored pics! I like the sketch in the lower-left of the Francine picture, very cute.

Much better with the giant bell on the tail. Without it she definitely wasn't as recognizible.

And.. you're gonna hate me for saying this after you've already got the guido pic colored and everything, but i think that his feet should be angled lower towards the 'ground'. It just looks like he's standing on a slope or something. *shrug*

Guido's feet... yeah, you're right. It's easy to notice these mistakes on the finished piece, but nevertheless I still enjoyed drawing the pose.



Now I've got a cool idea with SPC art: all I need to do is draw a character and match it with some silly proverb or catchphrase from the show (and by jeebus, there are LOADS of them!!). The finishing result will be some sort of poster or one of those humorous car stickers you find sometimes.
I already got a good one for Polly and an even better one for Bad Bird, but can you think of some? Any suggestions can go on this topic. Anyone can pitch in although I have some of my own ideas like I've mentioned before.  ;-)

I watched the Polly's Magical Flute episode. I couldn't help but laugh when Bad Bird says: "Stop and you die!" It would be great to have a pic of BB with him saying that.

Preferably Wallpaper sized.

Who else found that scene about the villains' eyebrows amusing to listen to in the 2nd episode. And then Bad Bird finishes it off with:
"It's a good day to be evil. I don't even care whether I have eyebrows or not!" Heh heh.

It's not really supposed to mean anything. It's just one of the show's many ways of setting Speedy slightly apart from the other two cats.

Very nice. She looks more like a Sonic character than anything else. I guess the obvious influence is from Tails.

I'm quite flattered, and very pleased that you enjoyed the story so much. I'm only sorry that it wasn't a better read to begin with.  :O

I asked for fanart contributions eight or nine years ago, back when the story was first written, but I believe this is only the second such piece that I've ever received (Kristopher Grows did a picture of Falcone sometime in 1999). Nice work; I like your art style. I'm impressed that you paid such close attention to detail, like the hexagon crystal on Francine's visor and the Omega symbols on her forearms; it's been so many years that I can't remember precisely why I included them in the first place. If you should feel the urge to create more, then by all means, feel free, with my blessing.

There are only two fanart contributions to this amazing story?! Hmm, I have a feeling that something's not right...  :D I actually thought about doing more art from the story. So sometime, yeah, I can do some more.

Without risking of double posting, I cooked up this Polly piccy just recently. The colouring style here is different than usual and I left the pencil lines on because I'm so bad at inking. Once a background is drawn, it'll be up on DA in no time.

By the way, does anybody here ever complain that they only see too much of one character on a fanart in general? Tell me what you all think. I can do other SPC characters no problem, but I picked this one from one of my drawing pads today.

You're the artist, and you're just doing this for fun, so in the end it's up to you. Draw what you enjoy drawing. Trying out different things is good for building your skills, though.

I agree, draw what's fun for you to draw.  Anyway, all SPC fans automatically like Polly.  She might not be everyone's #1 favorite, but everyone likes her.
