Title: Now Playing
Post by: Takila on December 23, 2006, 05:03:28 pm
(A lot like the Now Watching/Reading threads in the off topic forum, but with playing in it  :P.)

I've recently started playing Nevenwinter Nights Diamond edition, and I'll have to say that I'm impressed.  The character creation is both vast and well balanced, partly because of its D&D roots.  Great visuals despite it's age and other than the loading error hallmarks of a Bioware game (They no worky well), I'm really liking it.

I'm also tackeling SM3 at the same time, but it needs no introduction.

The last game I was playing was good ol' Final Doom. You know the score. Run, shoot evil monsters, open door, find key, find exit. Lather, rinse and repeat. All alone in a world of hurt, dressed in green. Although I've been too busy to play games recently.

My Xbox has been broken for 5 months now. I've been stuck playing what's on my computer. I got a copy of FF7 for the PC from my friend. And I play Civilization 4.

lately, i've been hooked to StarFox Command, trying to unlock all the endings while experimenting with the many characters i've seen, including the Star Wolf team.

i've also been playing MegaMan ZX, though i might be in a bit of a rut. but, once i start playing it again, i'll figure something out. i hope. ^^;

and, i've also got Twilight Princess, as well as some more Virtual Console games. the best one i've got so far is Gunstar Heroes.

Megaman ZX ain't out here in Europe 'il February...  :(

StarFox Command looks and sounds brilliant, too, what with all the multiple endings to explore. Just like in the older games where there are so many possible routes you can take til you get to Venom.

Currently I'm playing Tekken: Dark Resurrection, though I still want to play on the original version, Tekken 5. Two very good legendary beat 'em ups indeed.
I played Me & My Katamari before I moved to Tekken though. The visuals and music got me attracted to that game!  8O

Revenge is fun to play, though.

I'm playing Ninja Gaiden Black on Master Ninja difficulty, and Warcraft III.

Trying to get all the medals in Star Fox Assault, so I can play unlockable Namco arcade games like Xevious. All bronze medals collected so far, it's pretty easy!

Just bought some new Square soft PS1 games (they actually still exist).  All of the compilations: FF1/2/4/5/6, Crono Trigger and Crono Cross.  Currently, I'm hating the poison system in FF1, but I expect it to get better.  (Fortunately, I bought FF7 at the time: it's nowhere to be found now.)

Yes. I know I'm a retro gamer, but it gives  me things to do when my computer isn't working.

Well my 360 has been busted for a month now (I'm too lazy to send it to be repaired) so I'm currently working through Perfect Dark on the N64. Though I can't get past Invincible 3 ranking on the Combat Simulator.

Everyone picks on Slippy, and I absolutely cannot get over what he said in the Katina level in that game.

Pity we don't have many VG avatars here. I'd love to get the lil' green dude out now and have him surrounded by an army of Bad Birds! XD

Currently I'm playing on 'Black and White 2'; I've only just started it. But I have been playing a bit of FFXII and StarFox Command this past week.

Despite his constant: "Fox! Get this guy off me!", "Fox! Get this guy off me!", "Fox! Get this guy off me!", "Fox! Get this guy off me!", "Fox! Get this guy off me!"
I still like Slippy the most. For one reason, he says my favourite line in the game: "You're carcass is mine!" There is nothing more bad-ass than calling someone a carcass before they are dead.

I'm not into games all that much, but there's one I've been wanting for a long time and I finally got it.  Ichigeki Sacchu!! HoiHoi-san (一撃殺虫!!ホイホイさん, One-Shot Bug Killer!! Interceptor Doll HoiHoi-san) which is a Japanese PS2 game (I bought a Japanese PS2 for it).
"In the year 20XX, insects have become immune to all pesticides. To combat the rising plague of cockroaches and other household pests, the tiny, doll-like extermination androids known as "Hoihoi-san" were created. They can hunt down insects and kill them with such miniaturized weapons as minuscule machine guns and tiny combat knives. They can also (and at the same time) be treated as dolls, by dressing them up in costumes and buying accessories for them. The main robot of the anime wears a maid uniform and rabbit ears as accessories."  In the game, you control HoiHoi-san and patrol a house, hunting roaches and other pests.

Contact: Finished. Nothing left to do other than mop up side quests, collect all items, grind the Cow God for max levels and cook ever dish imaginable.
M&L Partners in Time: Near completion. Need to get it back from my bro. >>
Shining Soul II: Early in the game. Wishing Contact's fighting system was as fun as this one.
FFII: Early in the game. Ignoring the game right now because of Mt. Ordeals.

Current games include:

Pokemon Sapphire and Emerald.  Since trying to beat the facilities in the Emerald version has proven frustrating to me, I'm concentrating on Sapphire's Battle Tower.

Megaman Zero. Kicks tail, without question. I can't beat the final boss at his best, but I still love listening to the game's music. I just picked up the game almost a month ago; it's the first Megaman game I've ever owned, even though I've watched other people play several of the Classic games.

Starcraft. I get on Battle.Net every now and again, usually just to keep my account going.

I've also been playing another game, a PC game called The Pickle Wars; the classic PC game Castle Adventure (there's still one treasure I haven't found yet after all these years), Kaznapped! and a host of others, but the four games listed above take priority.

First one is good, second is the hardest, third is the longest and has a great story, fourth has the best gameplay(read: elves are finally able to be used in a rational manner) and has a great ending to the series.

(If you liked the music from the first, you should hear the third and fourth's. In fact, you should. Clicky. (http://www.atomic-fire.com) Be sure to check out the remastered versions too.

Beaten Doom 2, after an hour or so of attempts on the final level.  (It's a much easier game to play once you realise that there are STRAFE KEYS)

I've been though several recently, listed as followed:

Giants: Citizen Kabuto:  An odd name for an odd game.  It's defined as a 'genre blender', and it blends a mix of RTS, 3rdPS,RPG , giant monster mashing game, and platformer together well.  Each part plays into the humourously written story with it's dry British humour superbly.  So basically: three playable races, three genres for each (discounting overlapping ones), well written, and fun.  I'd recommend it to anyone willing to download it for a couple of days.

Played WoW for about a month, then quit.  I finally enjoyed playing that damn game, and decided to end it on a high note.

Rented and beat a dynasty warriors game.  If you like tapping the x button for thirty minutes at a time, this game is for you!

Back at Morrowind, because I forgot how long it was.  I'm also running though Mega Man X again.  2d platformers ftw.

And that's about that. Happy gaming!

I've been playing a fair amount of games over the past month.

I'm having an absolute ball on Guitar Hero 2 on the 360 - although the cover of 'Killing In The Name' is terrible. Been playing through Far Cry: Predator as well.

On the Wii, I've been working through Twilight Princess and DBZ:  Budokai Tenkaichi 2 - lots of fun to be had with those two.

And I finally found a guide that explains how to get to Perfect 1 ranking on the original Perfect Dark on the N64, so I've been playing that a fair bit as well.

Has anyone here played The Darkness yet?

Reccently, I've got into playing the Beast Wars Fighting games, for N64 and Gameboy Colour. The GBC version lets you play as Megastorm, who was based on G2 Megatron (He's the one I've  been playing mostly. I used to love that toy, when I was a kid  :D ) As for the N64 version, I've played both US and Japanese versions. Still have no idea why they made Airazor male in the Japanese version  . Though I like Rattraps voice (Yamaguchi Keppei  :speedy: alias Yattaro)

Playing through Halo and Halo 2 recently to rehash the storyline - only 8 more days till Halo 3.

And I'm still going on DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on the Wii - I will never get sick of being able to perform my own Kamehamehas.

I'm also waiting for Halo 3, but not quite as eagerly as other people are. I believe the best part about it will be those midnight release parties as they usually tend to be somewhat neat. The first few LAN parties will also be cool as will the first month online. But after that? Well, then we'll see what kind of game it really is. Maybe it will turn out like Splinter Cell : Double Agent and be the only really good game in the entire series. I hope not, because if so I owe a lot of people a treat at Wendy's.

Aside from that I've recently played. . .

Bioshock : Interesting game. Stereotypical FPS with a combat system similar to Condemned - Criminal Origins and nifty abilities that are borrowed from other titles you've most likely already played. An excellent presentation makes up for most of its other flaws.

Metroid Prime Corruption : Garbage. Barely worth a rental. Exact same game as the last two installments. The only part I remember enjoying was the first boss fight with Ridley. In any case, there had to be something good about it or I wouldn't have played through the whole game. It's just not nearly as good as people hype it up to be.

Anyway, here's hoping that Bungie gets it right with Halo 3 because Halo and Halo 2 made me laugh and laugh.

Can I get myself into the Wendy's deal? Cause I got a gooood feeling about Halo 3. One word: Forge.

I'm sooo excited! I already have an idea for a custom game-type called Cats vs. Crows.

Nope. Unless you have a toaster for a head, you can't wear it; there's only a rectangular hole in the bottom. Plus, there's no breathing holes. And Bungie said they specificaly made it so you can't fit your cat's head in it either. Cause they knew people would try to do that.

Yay Halo 3!
I've gotten a hold of my copy as well... And I've got to say, it's pretty dang nifty.
I especially like the enhanced video playback of campaigns and online matches.
Also, I love the ability to finally leave feedback and actually mute players live during a match.

Also got Soul Calibur 3. I've been having fun making a version of Synbios from Shining Force III, in the create a character feature. I even tried to do one of Speedy. I managed an Optimus Prime look-a-like though  :D

I'm gonna pick up Bladestorm for the 360 soon, and I'm gonna get Mass Effect for cheap from a pal.
I'm gonna be busy... i mean, apart from school, homework, national tests and all that jazz...

I started playing Soul calibur I, II and IV earlier this week, its the best series of fighting games in my opinion. I, myself, think number II is the best of the series (but that might just be influenced by the kickassery of Spawn and the awesome voice of the commentator).
Yoshimitsu is by far my most favorite character, since his personality reminds me of characters i usually play as in Lajv and other RPGs.

*swedish historical recreation, only it's not historical but Fantasy, Horror, SciFi etc.

resistence for the ps3, I really like the online version, most of such games you have to kill each other but in this game you have to fight against a lot of monsters together with other people, so you work as a team :P

F.E.A.R 2 at the moment. A good shooter, but really lacking the horror and scary moments from the first title and the expansions. There was a moment in the 'Perseus Mandate' campaign that nearly gave me a heart attack.

Teenage boy, as opposed to shojo, which is teenage girl.   I prefer shojo manga and anime as opposed to everything else...I'm so lame, and I love it.

alright then, learned somethin about japanese again :P I only knew shounen from the anime: shounen onmyouji (prettical logic ins't it  :D)

Which section of PM scared ya? I've played all the FEAR games to date and the sequel was creepier to me than the 1st one and it's 2 expansions.

The PM section which scared the hell out of me - I was playing at three in the morning, with headphones on and the lights out. Remember that moment in the last interval where you walk into a room, the lights suddenly flick off, and then a whole heap of corpses are against a lit up window screaming very loudly at you?  8O My reaction was to jump, shout "Holy Shit!", and drop my controller. My pulse was still racing a few minutes later.

There were a lot of moments in the first three campaigns that freaked me out. Like the noise those floor monsters make. And the nurse in the Extraction Point campaign. But Project Origin hasn't had any of those moments so far...

EDIT: Yeah, finished it tonight. Pretty good story, and they have left a good opening for a third game. But the scare factor just wasn't there.

just bought the game dbz infinite world, it's almost the same as budokia 3, they look the same, the way you fight is the same, and I only did 1 ultimate move (spirit bomb) and the beginning of the attack was exactly the same as budokai 3 (also the voice). But now there are a few new characters and now you also have mini games. It's only sad they have no dragon rush anymore  :(

I've started going through Fallout 3 again. I'm having a decent amount of fun this time around.
It's interesting starting back over again, especially after learning how to more effectively manage my character.
This doesn't stop me from dying though... It's happened twice so far due to my carelessness.

Also, I've been playing Chrono Trigger on my DSi, and recently I've downloaded an application to my DSi that'll allow me to make little sketches!

I've been reliving the glory of Wolfenstein 3D. I only had the shareware version of the game when I was young, so it was pretty cool to be able to play the other five episodes, and get round to wasting Mecha-Hitler.

Speaking of Wolfenstein, I've also been playing Wolfenstein for the 360. Okay shooter, I guess. There's enough blood and gore to keep me entertained. Tricky business finding all the collectables though...

I'm not usually into rhythm gams, but i recently started playing "Hatsune Miku Project Diva".
I was suprised to see that it was actually really good (even though it as no autosave)
its basically a song sung by a VOC@LOID (Hatsune Miku) together with a music video and button pressing, but diffrent from other rhythmgames on the same system, the button-prompts appear all over the screen EBA style.
one of the only gripes i have with this game is why SEGA decided to put Ievan Polkka in the song list  :-\
if anyone has a PSP and likes rhythm games, i would highly recommend trying this game out.

Don't ever play Call of Duty 3. I made the mistake of checking it out and it is bloody terrible.

Minecraft is a nice time killer, as in start playing at 6:30 pm then glance at your watch and suddenly it's 2 am.
So far I've built a Japanese Sengoku-era fortress, a European medieval fortress, a timber-framed house, a troopship, a nuclear bunker and a Japanese paper house.

Shogun 2 Total War and Minecraft single player.
Minecraft is a nice time killer, as in start playing at 6:30 pm then glance at your watch and suddenly it's 2 am.

I hope one day, someone will build a full-model replica of Little Tokyo..

What am I playing? Hmm.. recently been playing a little bit of Dead Space 2. That game rocks my socks.

I never thought I'd get to say this: I'm currently playing Duke Nukem Forever.
All I can say about it is: It's good (cinematics, story, humour, etc.), but I think Duke 3D is overall a better game.

It's coming out in 3 more days... Besides, that's a game that someone of your age REALLY shouldn't be playing.

Hm, haven't seen any posts in here in awhile.

Anyway, I am playing through Metroid Prime 3 and Metroid Prime 2, I never beat either of those.
Also, I am holding on NSMBW, because our Nyko remote that we use for Player 2 (Me) is broken, and my brother and me were play Co-Op, and were on the Star Coin hunt -__-
For the Playstation side of things, SOTH, I am gonna burn a few more games soon, so yeah. We are getting low on money, so I am going to be burning quite a bit.

I've been playing Katawa Shoujo. It's a R-Mature game, kind of a Datesim where you assume the Role of Hisao, a guy with arrhythmia that goes to a school for... well, damaged people. The game has made me cry about five times now. It's beautifull. Simply beautifull.

Got invited to DOTA 2, only to realize I suck majorly at it since I'm not too good terribly, inhumanly bad at most RTS games (except for Age of Empires 2, which I don't suck majorly).

Currently going to start up Counter Strike Source to join a Zombie mod server or something.

Currently I'm contemplating re-trying to get back into Mass Effect.
I don't know what my problem is... I have barely gotten past the beginning.

Perhaps it's the fact that I'm over-analyzing every move I make in the game since I've heard so much about my choices making an impact on future events.
I feel like a guy conducting an experiment to see how each drop of water I toss into a pond interacts with other waves caused by other drops I dropped into the pond.

Have any of you played Mass Effect? If so how'd you break through the initial stages & get to the point where the game started coming together for you?

I've been playing Mass Effect since friday. It's my first time playing it so I don't know almost anything. Well, Im slow in that kind of game too, 'cause I am doing ALL the sidequests I find before proceeding with the main story.

Now I've just left the Citadel and I'm in a cold planet, a human colony. I think is called "Feros", and now the game is becoming interesting.

Still trudging through Skyrim. Then I gotta immediatly finish Mass Effect 2, so I can move on to Mass Effect 3, and see what the comotion is all about for its ending.
The way people complain about it; it's like the Derpy scandal all over again.

I was in Noveria, not Feros, as I said before. Well, I was. Now I'm travelling the entire universe exploring. Yay.

This isn't so much as "right now" as it is "was".

Played Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 on the Xbox360 with a friend of mine earlier today. Just recently completed all of Official Mode.

Toying with the idea to go back to World of Warcraft.. Wrath of the Lich King private server that is! Had the most fun in that expansion, and given the original story - and the expansions that were made after WotLK - , it should've ended there.

Also, FF4 on the iPad, when I find some time that is
