Title: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Mechadon on January 12, 2007, 04:50:36 pm Video Games have excellent music. I wanna know what you think is the best. You can only pick one and you have to be specific.
What game is it from? When do you hear it? My favorite is from an old Genesis game called Bonanza Brothers and it's the music from the first level. This tune beats out everything from Sonic, Final Fantasy and Halo. I could loop this tune for 8 hours and not get annoyed with it. It's got this bouncyness to it. I can't find any mp3s on the net and I can only find one midi. The midi's don't do it any justice. But I can still listen to it. I have a ROM for Bonanza Bros. for my Genesis emulator. I can play it from the sound test and minimize the emulator window. I'm listening to it right now. Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: necron9dee9 on January 12, 2007, 05:58:26 pm The theme music from all of the Final Fantasy games (or, most of them, as far as I know). That just sticks in my head.
Either that or the part in FF3 (American version) when you have to remember the lines to the opera in the opera house. I can still hum that tune to this day, even after not playing the game for 10+ or so years. Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: felineki on January 12, 2007, 06:09:47 pm WAY too many to name. I could probably write a book on the subject.
Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Threaux on January 12, 2007, 06:25:40 pm I enjoy music from the Guilty Gear, Klonoa, and Chronocross soundtracks, as well as any catchy chiptunes (Double Dragon, Doom, Sonic Series, etc.)
By the way, we aready have a video game music thread; perhaps they should be merged? http://www.edoropolis.org/forums/index.php?topic=146.0 (http://www.edoropolis.org/forums/index.php?topic=146.0) Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Matt on January 12, 2007, 09:26:48 pm Thunderhorse on Guitar Hero.
=D! I REALLY like Ocarina of Time's music. Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: SteC on January 12, 2007, 10:14:52 pm The opening intro from Soul Edge / Soul Blade is a thrill to listen to. Also, the music from Star Fox for the SNES is my absolute favourite in the series. Too bad the composer only worked for that only game in the series.
Other favourites are Rayman, Tekken 2, Zelda, Final Fantasy VI+VII, Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 2 and Streets of Rage 1 + 2. Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Andy on January 13, 2007, 12:36:57 pm Hmm. I do like several themes in Star Fox 64, Zelda: Orcania of Time, and the Super Smash Bros genre.
But, the theme that sticks mostly to my head is the 1st level theme in the Sonic the Hedgehog game. The first one. :D Andy (I love that theme song) Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Helios on January 13, 2007, 12:42:25 pm Some of my favourites are from Halo, Ocarina of Time, Morrowind, Donkey Kong Country and GoldenEye.
Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: AsterCrow on January 13, 2007, 09:00:58 pm One of my all time favorites from any game, ever:

My most favourite tunes, however, are nestled safely away in the first Spyro trilogy and my other PS1 games (FF7, FFT, HM: BTN, etc.). (To Mechadon: Attached here, because I couldn't find anywhere else to put it. Captured directly from the game, and I'm hoping its the one you mentioned. Its darn good, too.) Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Mechadon on January 16, 2007, 01:42:41 pm (To Mechadon: Attached here, because I couldn't find anywhere else to put it. Captured directly from the game, and I'm hoping its the one you mentioned. Its darn good, too.) Sorry, Takila. But that's just another midi. Not the original. At least you know what the song kinda sounds like. I'll stick to my emulator. I have to say thanks. I appreciate your effort. There is a Sega Genesis collection with Bonanza Bros. on it for the PSP. And IGN has video of gameplay. http://media.psp.ign.com/media/844/844584/vids_4.html I hope someday someone will rip the music from this collection and make an MP3 of it. Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Takila on January 16, 2007, 09:13:29 pm While searching on this very topic, I happened to come across this site:
http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks.php If you ignore the ads, you can come away with a plethora of game music. I'm downloading some now :). (NOW you tell me it's a Genesis game. The music before was from the Sega Master System port.) (Here's what I got from the one you mentioned.) (EDIT: Just realized that the site in question has a copy of the music I captured and posted. *Hits head with keyboard* ) *Thud* Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Mechadon on January 17, 2007, 01:41:36 pm Yes! That's it! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
And the site you found. That's the site where I get most of my game music. I recommend a track from Musha Aleste called Fullmetal Fighter. It would make great background music for an SPC music video. Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: adam808 on January 17, 2007, 04:07:47 pm I'm loving this song from the Solbrain famicom game right now.
Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: SteC on January 17, 2007, 04:28:22 pm Download anything ya want from that site. Better still, if you register you can download full soundtracks rather than individual ones if you prefer. :)

Post by: Helios on January 22, 2007, 08:38:56 am While searching on this very topic, I happened to come across this site: Thanks Takila, that site's bought back some old memories. I'll add Conker's Bad Fur Day to my list - 'Heist' was an awesome jazzy song, and 'The Great Mighty Poo' always has me in stiches when I hear it.http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks.php Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: SteC on January 23, 2007, 07:06:51 pm Let's sing the Mighty Poo song!
. . . On Nihonbare!! :D :D :D Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: CRBWildcat on January 24, 2007, 06:07:15 pm There's a whole bunch of them I like, but if I absolutely had to pick just one...
Hmmm.... Ehhh... Brimstar's music, from Metroid: Zero Mission. It reminds me of why I'm into video games in the first place. It was kind of hard to pick, really. Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Methid Man on January 26, 2007, 03:28:59 am [Edited to include links]

Post by: Anonymous on January 26, 2007, 04:26:24 am my fav game tunes..
hmm this is a toughie. I like the theme music to Oh Mummy! (on the Amstrad CPC464/Spectrum 16k) quite jazzy; but one you can't get out of your head after a while! ALL the music from the Dizzy series, (again on the above systems) And i think the original version of columns on the game gear/Master system still is a nice fav; and not forgetting TETRIS!! I haven't played many new games; i don't really have the time Neko Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Purrcat on January 27, 2007, 11:35:15 pm The Final Fantasy games' tunes, of course (like another poster said). I have the 'classical' version (although I don't really fancy classical music in general) of War of the Magi, played with an orchestra instead of the PS1-bleeps. It's got something 'powerful' about it. As has Liberi Fatali. Mr. Uematsu has quite some talent!
Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: SteC on January 29, 2007, 07:16:31 am Ohmygosh! At one time back when I had Yoshi's Island (the SNES version), I blubbered like a baby while watching the credits sequence. Not ashamed that I still do once in a while.
Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: NPC on January 29, 2007, 06:52:55 pm I'll never be able to pick out one, so...
Bloody Tears- It's in several Castlevania games. Great song. Cornered- A Phoenix Wright music track. Great song, found a remixed midi of it that sounds better than the actual tune. Baby Bowser- Yoshi's Island. I get all the way through this cute, awesome game and get to fight Bowser while listening to a rock tune. Yummy. Ice Rink- Ristar music. Very nice. Eyes of Fire- Cave Story. One of the better tracks on the game. All of the music from the Kirby series. <3 DK pass- Mario Kart DS. The only music track I liked on that game. Most of the music from Silent Hill. Not much from Final Fantasy. Some from Legend of Zelda. The list goes on... Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Blackcat on January 31, 2007, 12:36:25 am Well, the game “Kung-fu” for da Nes has one of the most catchy tunes ever, I even used it when we played “Crazy kombat” a parody of Mortal Kombat and street fighter I did with a friend…
Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: ItsGotSugar on March 13, 2007, 01:32:03 pm Great topic. Well...my favorite video game tunes are as follows.
Mega Man 2 (NES) -- "Dr Wily 1&2" stage. My favorite piece of video game music ever made. Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES) -- "Bramble Scramble" stage. One of the best pieces of music I've heard in gaming. In fact, DKC and DKC 2 were full of excellent music. Xenosaga: Episode I (PS2) -- "Opening", "Ormus", "Nephilim", many others Silent Hill 3 (PS2) -- Pretty much everything on the soundtrack. Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: LadyFlame on November 30, 2007, 07:15:10 pm [Edited to include links] Marble Garden Zone (http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/954/14) theme of Sonic 3 (Genesis) Agreed, that's a top tune. For some reason I had it in my head the other day, even though I haven't played the game in months (I have the Sonic Collection on my XBox 1). I also liked the music from the first level in Streets Of Rage 1 (now I'm really showing my age!). Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: TGLucario475 on December 01, 2007, 11:04:00 am the Super Mario World (SNES) music, which i've downloaded aswell :D
Title: Re: Favorite Video Game Tune. Post by: Mechadon on January 04, 2008, 07:33:34 pm "Advent: One-Winged Angel" from Final Fantasy VII. It really summed up just how epic the boss fight was. It gave me chills in Kingdom Hearts. "Revival: One-Winged Angel" from Advent Children was pretty nice, but it lacked the flare that the oiginal had. Aeris' theme occasionally brings a tear to my eye, as that song was playing when she died. On the subject of Kingdom Hearts, "Simple and Clean" from the first, and "Sanctuary" from the second. Two very nice songs. Lots of emotion. Ahh yes, One Winged Angle. The Bohemian Rhapsody of gaming music. :D |
