Title: Chinese zodiac sign
Post by: Daisensei on January 14, 2007, 11:52:54 am
The members of Eto Rangers are animals that represents the 12 sign of Chinese zodiac ((十二支). The sign of a person is given by his/her year of the birth. To make things more complicated, in the Chinese calendar the start of the year isn't same as the our calendar (something about the Chinese calendar being based on Moon instead Sun... I don't understand well such details...).
I'm opening this topic for Chinese zodiac related posts.

By the way, my sign is horse (uma - 午), represented in Eto Rangers by the character Pakaratchi.

I was born on the year of the tiger. I'm also a Leo.
Seriously, dude, what's with the cat's?

Are you asking what place cats have in it? Well in real life the stories vary but basically say that the cat was excluded from being among the favored chosen animals. So it is natural for the left out cat to be the villain. Eto Rangers goes with the version of the legend that states there was a race to determine who were the fastest of the animals, and only 12 became the Eto animals. I won't go into why exactly the cat lost just now. There was a whole episode devoted to the race for the 12, just as many other shows had flashback episodes. I'm thinking of a thread with a spoiler warning (or a new section to my website) where I'll just tell everything I can figure out from watching all episodes.

After a quick search, I'm an Ox zodiac

"People born in the Year of the Ox are patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. They tend, however, to be eccentric, and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers and although they speak little, when they do they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally and physically alert. Generally easy-going, they can be remarkably stubborn, and they hate to fail or be opposed. They are most compatible with Snake, Rooster, and Rat people."

My zodiac sign?
Eh... I'm a Boar.

I'm kinda torn between not thinking of the boar as a cool animal, and yet amazingly the dude fits me. I think...

Soo... I like 'em, yet... I'm not sure... Not like I have much a choice, but nothing wrong with questioning ones self.

That's not what I was asking but it is still good to know. My question was rhetorical. I was just wondering why my signs for both the Chinese Zodiac and my Horoscope are both super-cats.

I just don't get why everything that is astrological in nature keeps trying to tell me I'm strong or that I'm a leader. I'm not athletic in any way and I prefer to be lead by others.

What I am is resourceful and inquisitive.

Sorry for double posting, I don't know how to attach more than one file at the post. Anyway...
Your sign is same of my father's. 2007 will be the year of Boar, so in the next birth your age will be some multiple of 12 (my father will be 72 years old in September).

It turns out that I'm a rabbit, the 4th animal of the zodiac. The one who was helped by the dragon in the story where the animals race to the Emperor. Both my heaven and combination elements are Fire on the time I was born.

This is what Wikipedia says about 'The Fourth Trine', that consists of the rabbit, goat and pig:

"They seek beauty and a sensitive lover. They are caring, self-sacrificing, obliging, sensible, creative, empathetic, tactful, and prudent. They can also be naive, gullible, pedantic, lazy, insecure, cunning, indecisive, and pessimistic."

Thank you for taking the time to at least post up the images.
With that, what's the matter with an extra post or two.  :D

I am a Rooster.

I mean, come on now. You didn't expect this bird to be born under a feline sign, did you? ^_~*

"Roosters are the most eccentric of the Chinese zodiac. They are full of dreams and romantic ideas. They are colorful and attractive, radiant and dashing. Roosters are organized, precise, and their sharp eyes seek out fine details in everything. They are perfectionists and leave no room for human error. Roosters express themselves very well both in writing and speech. They are knowledgeable in most subjects you wish to discuss."

People born in the Year of the Snake are deep. They say little and possess great wisdom. They never have to worry about money; they are financially fortunate. Snake people are often quite vain, selfish, and a bit stingy. Yet they have tremendous sympathy for others and try to help those less fortunate. Snake people tend to overdo, since they have doubts about other people's judgment and prefer to rely on themselves. They are determined in whatever they do and hate to fail. Although calm on the surface, they are intense and passionate. Snake people are usually good-looking and sometimes have marital problems because they are fickle. They are most compatible with the Ox and Rooster.

I'm not sure I agree with the bolded part, hehe. I'd need confirmation from people I know to verify the other stuff though, hehe. :p

This description was from the first site I pulled up on Google.

Adam808, cartoonking10749 and the ones born in the rat year, the profile of the main character of Eto Ranger, Bakumaru. My mother is of this sign. I have heard that person of horse sign has no affinity with of the rat, but never had troubles with my mother. Therefore this zodiac stuff must not be taken too much seriously.

By the way, AsterCrow, don't feel annoyed by the comment because it's about the characters of the series, and not necessary refers to the personality of the people of that sign. For example, I never felt as energetic and optmistic as Pakaratchi (although sometimes I wished to feel so).

Dogs are loyal, idealistic, morally courageous, protective of those they care about and also worriers. Who´s my Eto ranger?

It seems I am a Rabbit under the elemental sign of fire.

What Wiki says about the Rabbit sign:
The Rabbit ( 卯 ) is the fourth animal symbol in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. According to traditional Chinese astrology, the Rabbit is said to be quiet, reserved, retrospective, thoughtful and lucky.

In the related Vietnamese zodiac, the cat takes the place of the rabbit.

and about Fire Rabbits:

The Fire Rabbit is a Rabbit with spunk. You are more outgoing and decisive than other Rabbits.
