Title: Eto Rangers
Post by: Violet on July 11, 2005, 07:38:11 am
Eto Rangers is an anime made by the same team that made KNT, you'll even see that some of the characters are very similar.  There's not any decent English web pages about the show up currently, but you can see some fan art at http://www50.tok2.com/home/biyanco/
I have a bunch of these available on WinMX if you want to check them out.

12 Senshi Bakuretsu EtoRanger, eh? Sounds very interesting indeed... The designs doesn't look quite as good as in KNT though.

a while back, i read that Satoru Akahori -- who wrote some scripts for KNT -- was involved in producing Eto Rangers.

 :O

Wowzers... I just got done downloading all the episodes from 1 to 39.
Just got done watching episode 1.

... Wow...

It looks cool. Very nifty series so-far. ^_^
... I just wish I could understand what they were saying.

From what I can gather, it's the job of the Rangers to defend various worlds where fictional characters reside. They do this through I guess what could be called a Pegasus.

For some reason, only a few of them can go into these fictional worlds at a time. An onboard computer reccomends/picks who'll go.

I'm intreagued that the primary characters are the animals from the chinese zodiac. I can't wait to watch some more and see what they all can do.
I'm hopeing that my zodiac animal the boar does something neat. As of right now all he's shown me is that he can distract the mouse.

Check it out folks! You may not understand a word they're sayin, but it's not all that bad. ^_^

Yeah I watched it a week or 2 ago and was hooked. I downloaded the soundtrack where the characters sing too :)
Ahh, Nyanma-sama... ;)
You haven't seen her yet have you? My favorite of the show, the villain. I took some screencaps...

I'll see if I can re-find the torrents. However I'm not sure if I'll be able to.

They're difficult to find, but they're out there.  ;) Just keep yer eyes open, and Google handy.

Another Etoren fan :) I got mine from Deadfrog torrents (http://www.deadfrog.us/), but I hear there aren't many Eto Rangers seeders. I'll get back on and seed. Just use the search term "eto" on the site and in there you'll find the 3 torrents you need.

I still use WinMX hehe (winmxworld patch).

Eto fans unite!

thanks to Adam, who taught me some very interesting tidbits recently, i've seen episodes 1 and 12. so far, i find this anime quite intriguing! one thing i especially like is hearing Ohkami's voice; he was played by one of my favorite seiyuu (if you've heard voices like Link, Nightmare, or Hiei, you can guess who that guy is. but, don't post his name here, since we wanna stay on topic ^^; ).

Okay.
I'm trying to start a website on etoren too.
I hope there are translators (and other things) someday, like there is for KNT.
I got the BGM CD, if anyone's interested in mp3s and scans of the cover/inserts.
I got scans and cd image of the character song CD off of Share.

Hey, I just won the storyboards to episode 37 of Eto Rangers. I'll scan those when I get my next stack of items shipped from Celga (It'll be a while since I just got my last one).

I'm starting an English Eto Rangers website. It's my first site and first time learning HTML, though. It is far from complete.
If you want to see what is up so far: http://etorangers.275mb.com
I really need to add some pictures in a gallery page.

Umm you can patch WinMX and get back in.

I added a character guide to my site, but have still been lazy about adding more pictures.  :P
Update: added pictures to the Character Guide, and replaced the Gallery pics with 640x480 full screenshots.
Here's a good screenshot of Neko no Seirei Shokora (Spirit of Cats, Chocolat):

By the way, I have both Eto Rangers soundtrack CDs for real now. Anyone for CD images? (*.nrg)
Update: APE+CUE is better, lossless compression that makes it smaller. I'll have to give them to someone soon.
I still need to get the singles of the OP and both EDs, as the 2nd ED is only on its single. Also there are c/w songs not seen elsewhere.

Title: Re: Eto Rangers
Post by: adam808 on May 14, 2006, 10:31:05 pm
Sorry to have to reply to myself, but here's an update.
I added a Music section to the site with pictures of the CDs, mini-CDs, and tapes. I'm seriously thinking of uploading a torrent of the soundtracks in some form to Deadfrog, but I'll have to decide the format and prepare them. I still need to add Gallery pics and make a special Nyanma section. :)
If anyone has an Eto Rangers fan art they'd like on the site, I'd be happy to create a page for it. Or, fan fiction. And yes, this will be a paid-for site later. I'll have to start paying a few bucks a month for some more features and a real domain.
If anyone wants the disc images and scans of the Eto Ranger CDs, you'll probably have to contact me and get me to send them personally. I can't think of a place to host them right now.

I.ve just noticed tihis anime last week and frankly, I did not know such an anime even existed!!
I find this a big find on Youtube and, there really is very little web pages about it.
I am always interested in the Chinese Zodiac and it's out of the blue that ironicly the leader of this anime animal group is also my zodiac animal- The Rat.

There are similarities between this & SPC/KNT & other anime:

The rodent leader acts like and looks similiar to Speedy/Yattaro.
Cream the rabbit looks like Princess Vi, but more nicer. Bizarrely Cream is the name of another rabbit, but in the universe of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Draco the dragon shares looks, attitude & clothes with Piccolo of "Dragonball" fame. Even has his own "nimbus cloud".

Journeying to restore the balance of storybook worlds is strikingly similiar to the time-travelling cases of "Flint the Time Detective".

The sheep girl looks almost human.
The snake has invisible arms & legs.

So far, I've episodes 1 & 2. I seen bits of episodes 3 & 4.

One question though. What is the use of that box the rat leader always carry and how does it anyone he casts it upon?
Is it a evil spirit trap or revealer?

Someone please tell me. The episodes I've seen had no dubs.

Eto Rangers? How come I've never heard of this series before? And you say it's made by the same guys who did Pizza Cats? Wow. That's so cool! This is like discovering Hattori Hanzō had made another sword!

Title: Re: Eto Rangers
Post by: adam808 on June 22, 2006, 04:24:36 pm
It is the Genmakyo mirror that flips open. He cries out "Jyarei Shouran!" which means evil-spirit reveal. Or he gets help by saying "Seirei Shoukan" followed by the name of the person, which means roughly spirit summon. It can also call Kirinda ("Daikourin Kirinda!") to get rid of the monsters ("Jyou-ka!" purification).

Yes, I laughed at how Drago is like Piccolo. He just needs to get that scowl and "hmmph" down.
Guess what Vi's favorite character is...
My astrological sign is also Rat. (Wood Rat, can't remember the yin or yang)
The show has no English dub, sorry. There were rumors that the fans overseas heard of one, but no proof. It was redubbed for several other countries, however. Korea was one, and the Phillipines.
Kirinda's talking eye speaks in ESE Kansai-ben.
My avatar is of Jyarei-O Nyanma "Queen of Evil Spirits, Nyanma" (aka Nyanma-sama)
^ My favorite character... (when will someone cosplay her?) ^

You're a wood rat? Same as me.

Anyway the more episodes I've seen, the better Ican now understand the plot.
I've now seen episodes 1-8, thanks to that miracle find, Youtube.

It would be good if someone attempted to fan dub it into english. That's getting in anime displayed on Youtube.

I'm going to have to fansub it I guess. Wish me luck. I need translators and an encoder, but I'll probably do the timing gruntwork hehe. I hope I don't regret getting into this. I think it is worth it, though.

If you know someone that can translate, I can do most of the encoding/timing work (including fancy karaoke effects :D). Although you might be able to convince Tsuneko to do the encoding (he's far better).

edit: I can also talk to my Shin-Getter friends, although they're quite stingy with their translating staff, they'll usually more than willing to do an easy joint for some added street cred.

Just recently, I've had a peek of the later episodes and there's a few things I don't get:

At the big race origin episode, why was Chocolat denied of any entry at the gates of the pole, long before any of the Eto Rangers even showed up? Is the zodiac choice of choosen warriors already been selected before this race began, because there's no cat in the zodiac (except in Korea)?

One of the four cat warriors, the red one, does she have some of the soul of Chocolat? If so, how's that possible if Nyanma had always been Chocolat?
This is getting confusing.

Is there any fanfiction of the series? I looked everywhere and although some site said they do exist, I still can't find any.

There are fanarts, but that's just about it.

It'll also be cool if a project went underway. Target: Translate Eto Rangers into english.

P.S. Is there any torrents or downloads of Eto Rangers music, especially the character singing ones availiable?

Spoiler Alert! - The vision of Aurahime was perpetrated by Jyarei Shin Bagi to cause her to cheat and start the race a few minutes early, therefore she was disqualified. She felt betrayed, thinking Aura did it to her cruelly. The Big Four cats were created from her energy so are part of her and have her memories. Jyuken is like a reflection of her as Chocolat, which is why she has Chocolat memories.

I hope people come to me with fanfics/fanart for my site.

Yeah, I want to fansub it but have no translator. :(

If you want I can work on putting a torrent of the soundtracks and liner scans up. You'd prefer romaji track titles and ID3 right? What bitrate? I was going to do 320 kbps.

hello, i'm new here  :) sorry to say, but I haven't really watched SPC...though I want to  =(

Anyway, about Eto Rangers...I believe adam808 posted about the series being redubbed in the Philippines. It was, and I was one of the lucky little fools to still remember it. It was my childhood favorite! I love this anime. If anybody needs my help about this, I'll be glad to! Just e-mail me though!  XP

You might've noticed that Cream's name in my avatar is "Kelly". Wel...that's because it's her dubbed name here in the Philippines. I can give more info of the Filipino version of it if you want, even though it isn't really important XP AND There used to be an English site of this anime a few years ago, but it was now gone. =(

I know MOSTLY everything about Eto Rangers too, I'm proud to say...I just wished I knew how to understand Japanese so I can translate (I only know a few words)...

Well I can't really think of anything to say anymore!! ^^; hahhaha.....so just e-mail me, it's in my profile :)

Thank y'all!

P.S. I have fanarts of ER too. XD

Welcome lei-lei, glad to see another Eto Ranger fan.

Are you talking about Percival's site? On archive.org you can still find cached copies.
Put this in your address bar, link won't work: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://etorangers.virtualave.net/
Also you can find cached copies of the old official website by I&S.
Same with this: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.j-entertain.co.jp/eto/index-e.html

I have started an English fan site at http://etorangers.275mb.com

The filipino version would still be important to fans there, if they could find recordings of it. I'd like to find the dubs other countries got.
I'd like to know more about filipino version if it can give info about the characters. Was it a translation of the original or more of a rewrite like SPC?
There was an Italian version. It aired on Italian Teen Television beginning March 2004. Lucky Italians getting anime America doesn't! I am envious. Also was there a dub for Taiwan? I know there was a Korean one.

You could add pictures of the most important characters.

PS: The basic idea for a KNT/ETo rangers crossover is that the Eto rangers end in Edopolis and think the 3 main nyyaki are evil because they are cats?. It could be a bit more realictic if just when the ETo rangers arrive the nyyaki are being forced by Vi to be part in a representacion of ancient Edoropolis story (A war or something like that).

The Eto Rangers woud be there trying to find the Jyarei Monster. And, Edoropolis would be changed into an alternate version of itself. The Eto Rangers would find the Jyarei Monster and turn Edoropolis back to normal. In the end we'd see good old Edoropolis like we remember it, and the cats saying goodbye to the departing Kirinda.

I added a screenshot of the Eto Rangers to the wiki.

I haven't got the jist of the story yet, but maybe I could share some tips with you for the Wikipedia entry instead if you like.
The page would be great with more available information, including more screenshots. I suppose getting them through YouTube won't hurt much ('Prnt Scrn', 'Paste'), will it? That would make sense because it's a safer and more recommended alternative to taking them from another site.

Right, I'm gonna watch those eps now... (*?*)

The Jyarei Monster could turn the nyyaki into evil and possess Yattaro sword, so the fight vs the nyyaki would be inevitable. And since Eto rangers enemy are cats, they would originally think the nyyaki are really evil warriors replacing the heroes and not possessed.

Yeah it could be interesting...

And don’t say the Jyarei Monster could change all Edoropolis, since is a different universe and not a story, his power wont be that strong, that’s why he uses the  nyyaki  to do the dirty work.

Title: Re: Eto Rangers

I thought the world of Edoropolis would be a Novel World not an alternate universe. I mean, the Eto Ranger world itself is a Novel World sort of. Everything in the Eto Ranger universe is a Novel World I think. Even Mugen. And the cats don't look evil enough to be the cats in Eto Rangers. They'd probably fight the monster together.
Well, anyway that's what I'd do, but it's up to you.

Well, we know the Eto rangers and Edoropolis are in two different universes, Showing Edoropolis as one of the Novel works could make angry some of the fans(Like me), besides thanks to the New york nyyaki we know is a whole planet, too big to fit in a novel. And I posted that "The Jyarei Monster could turn the nyyaki into evil and possess Yattaro sword". Is not like the idea haven’t been used before...

The fight could be hard for the Eto rangers, even with the numerical superiority, until evil Yattaro tries to call the Catatonic, after the Eto rangers avoid the cat eye slash just by luck. When the Catatonic just ignores him, Yattaro gets confused and that’s when the Eto rangers get their chance.

Actually it would be possible for it to be a Novel World, even as a whole planet, since New York was in the story of KNT. Without that explanation there would be no reason for the Eto Rangers to be in Edoropolis. It will be one of those "we're in an alternate universe for no reason" suspensions of disbelief. Unless...
What if we set up Mugen as just an island above the ocean of Earth? Then we could say a ship came to Mugen from Edoropolis and the Rangers went to explore the new world beyond their island. Suddenly they realize their world is much larger than they thought.

I wish I could get my site to open an Eto Rangers forum. I tried but something went wrong and it didn't work. I don't know enough about running forums or SQL...

Well, the reasons of why the heck The Eto rangers and the monster are there would be explained in the second episode. And remember KNT even had an Alien coming from outer space, something too modem to make it a novel world, since it doesn’t fit in the category of a classical Japanese tale. Let’s just say that Big Cheese is behind all this, the idiot stole a book thinking it would make him powerful, but instead it opened a portal to the Eto rangers universe. Or a big evil, could be behind all this, someone who wants to become a god while he travels from universe to universe(But I don’t like that plot). Or to make things easier, it could be because one on Big Cheese robots, Warp-A bot? Accidentally teleported the Eto rangers and the monster there. It was originally supposed to send the nyyaki to another planet, so they don’t bother Big Cheese anymore.

Lets see Warp-A-Bot shots his teleporting beam to the nyyaki, but instead of sending them away it brings the Jyarei Monster here, having less power in a different universe, he possesses Yattaro sword and makes the nyyaki evil.

Yeah, a machine going wrong is something that could fit in KNT, besides crossovers don’t have to make sense in comical animated japanese Tv series, like when Paaman appeared in the last Doraemon episode.Or when the kid from Doraemon appeared in one of Digicharat episodes.

That's great!!!
If it worked for KNT, then Eto Rangers should be a snap.

the translator is half-japanese and loves juuni senshi bakuretsu eto ranger since she saw it as a kid....
so I have an encoder (me), translator (her), timer, but i need editor (someone who edits script to make it better for understanding, basically someone who's good at english, native language) and QCers (to watch the fansub and make sure there aren't any mistakes)

Yay!! Now we're getting somewhere. There's no better translator than a fan of that particular show.  ;-) Please keep us informed on your translating progress!

Just started watching the series yesterday. Really cool stuff :) I think the opening intro is one of the coolest tunes ever. And the song thats played over the end credits, is just beautiful. I've actually been looking for the soundtrack, but to no avail.

I quite like the Dog :)

Deadfrog seems to be back, but the seeders can't be seen because they are on DHT. To use DHT you need a port forwarded for your torrent client.

So, I finally started watching this. I'm watching the unsubbed episodes on Nicovideo, because I didn't feel like taking the time to download the subbed ones yet. Plus the Nicovideo comments are always amusing. So I can only make out parts of the dialog, but some of what I can make out had me laughing quite a bit. For example, this exchange between Bakumaru and Uri in episode 29 (the Frankenstein/Tennis episode) as they're making their way through all the girls around the tennis court:

Uri: "Kawaii onna no ko bakari da na!" ("Nothing but cute girls!")
Bakumaru: "Unun, sawaccha dame da yo!" ("Mm-hmm, don't touch!")

I also noticed in that same episode, Pakaracchi says "Ace wo nerae!" ("Aim for the Ace"), which is the title of an old tennis manga/anime. That same title is referenced in an episode of KNT, too.

Can you send the tunes to?

Hey, I finally scanned the continuity w/drawings of Eto Rangers episode 37. (Won it on Yahoo! Japan Auctions)
Here's a MediaFire link for anyone who's interested in seeing production material from the show:

(14.6 MB compressed, 120 MB TIFs uncompressed) (black and white photocopy source, 116 pages of A4 size paper)
Told you I'd get around to it. :)

It's sad that Mugen-X has stopped subbing Eto Rangers  :'(

I want to finish subbing the rest (16-39) but I need a translator. I have a RAW provider for this anime and a timer so far. I can encode so the only thing left is a translator. If you can translate and are interested, please reply here or PM me. Since exams are mostly taking places in April and May, I want to start subbing this project right the way after the last day of school (beginning of Summer vacation). Meanwhile, I will keep looking for more staff.

Well, 16 eto subs vs 3 KNT subs still sounds really good for me. Arent there some magas you guys could translate? Eto rangers had a lot more mangas or at least doujinishi stuff than KNT.

Speaking of manga, I came across this scan in which you can see an early alternate design for Princess Aura. Some drawings depicting this same design were also included in a collection of Eto Rangers production drawings I saw up for auction a while ago.

Hello, I know I have been absent for a long while. Here is a little trivia, Nyanma's hair color changes in a late episode.

I made FLAC rips. Back in like '05 I collected both the KNT and Eto Rangers CDs from Yahoo Japan Auctions via Celga bidding service.

I put it in the sticky thread.

The show has no English dub, sorry. There were rumors that the fans overseas heard of one, but no proof. It was redubbed for several other countries, however. Korea was one, and the Phillipines.

if eto ranger were dubbed I gonna ask funimation to dubbed this anime [not the screw 4kids just lke they did s*** to pokemon one piece and sonic x]

Title: Re: Eto Rangers

till now from every dub I know I only liked samurai pizza cats (was totally different from the Japanese) and fullmetal alchemist. most are so terrible, because the American dubs are talking with japanese names and attacks which just doesn't fit and for some reason the voices never fits. I tried to listen to the dubs from naruto and bleach but...I had to close the site immediately!

I still haven't watched eto rangers but I think it is better that it won't get dubbed. the only character which voice I didn't liked of this show was from that evil girl (I only watched a short part of the whole show)
