Title: Favourite movie explosions
Post by: Helios on March 16, 2008, 10:43:40 am
I saw this on another forum and thought it was a pretty interesting topic since I love action movies. So, as the title suggests, what are some of your favourite on-screen big bangs?

Here are my 10 favourites:
10) V For Vendetta - The London Parliament houses going sky-high.
9) LOTR: The Two Towers - Helm's Deep wall being breached.
8 ) Rambo 4 - the British Tallboy bomb going off (very big boom!)
7) The Matrix - the helicopter crash into the skyscaper.
6) The Long Kiss Goodnight - the massive bridge explosion at the end of the movie.
5) Broken Arrow - Deakins' death scene.
4) Star Wars - the Death Star explosion.
3) Terminator 2 - Cyberdyne HQ being "terminated".
2) Die Hard 2 - the 747 explosion (yippy-kay-yay motherf***er!)
1)The Running Man - Killian's death scene. Not only my favourite villain death scene, but also proceeded and followed up by classic Arnie one-liners.

- LOTR: Return of the King - Death of the Eye of Sauron/ Collapse of Barad-dur.

- Steamboy - Steam Castle explosion: freezes everything.

- Samurai Pizza Cats: The Movie - Catatonic destroying the Comet.

I'll list more as I think of them. I'm going by four criteria: size of explosion, special effects of explosion, cause of explosion, and meaningful impact of explosion,
