Title: Saber Marionette
Post by: Valkyrie on August 02, 2005, 04:23:47 am
Saber Marionette was a cool anime / manga in the 90's. About the same time as SPC, (I think)

---
It was about this kid named Otaru, who lives on a planet full of dudes, and then found these 3 chicks in suspended animation. Thier names were Lime, Cherry and Bloodberry, and they kicked serious butt when they were angry.  And to make a long, long story short.  Lime/Cherry/Bloodberry and robots with emotions that are programed to love Otaru and yadda yadda.
---

This series, I think, is one of the better done series done, especially with coloring and plot and character development.  Like anything else, it had its ups and downs, but there were a whole lot more ups than downs in this series.  Like a girl being able to wrestle down a bull, or (don't hurt me) Otaru and Hanigata peeing on a computer accidentaly and shorting it out.

Anybody else see this series, 'cause I have.

i read that Saber Marionette was created by Satoru Akahori, who was also involved in writing scripts for KNT, before he made other countless anime.

Really? I didn't know that.  It's a small world after all.

Their town Japanese is very similar to Edoropolis... Antique Edo city mixed with technology...

Konami's Ganbare Goemon (Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon) games have some similarities, too; not to mention the similar sense of humor to that of SPC and KNT. but enough about that, back to the topic. ^^;;

This is a nice series! It ranges from silly (uh, Hanagata's the only gay guy on Terra II that's filled only with men and female-type marionettes??) to sweet (Lime befriends a little squirrel which she calls 'Squirrely' and learns a valuable lesson) and even sexy. But I love Cherry's wild fantasies concerning Otaru, they always raise a smile. Haven't seen J to X yet. If anyone approaches the series by reading the manga first, the TV series is to be preferred - it goes into more detail, the character designs are much cuter, and it is much less pervy.  ;)  Where else can you see someone balancing an elephant on an umbrella? (lol)
I have been looking for SMJ gashapon but I haven't found any. Does anybody know that they were produced?

yeah, the SMJ manga was really pervy and stuff, even for me  :O But I wouldn't totally recomend smj-x, unless you're a really die hard fan. It has lots of plot-holes, but it does explain everything in the end.

I have the Saber marionette J manga, and I watched almost the episodes, I missed a few of J to X because I didn’t like them.

I wonder what other things Satoru Akahori, Noritaka "Tenko" Suzuki y Goh Mihara did besides KNT, it would be a great info for my site. Yeah I know about SMJ, but i dont want to ignore the other two guys^_-

Know the name of the music group or singer that did SMJ songs? Caused they/she did at least two KNT songs

Im pretty sure that it was mega-star Megumi Hayashibara (the Japanese voice for Lime) that sang the SMJ opening and closing songs.  :gurulou:

Oh Yeah, Just watched Saber Marionette R.

It was very dark compared to SMJ, and a whole lot bloodier.
I give it four stars

Megumi was the seiyuu of Lime, isn't? ANyway she doesn't sang Special EXpress Time; this was performed by other singer whose name I can't remember now (Stupid TV)... Hmmm... I must jump to the Mistery thread!!!
