Title: what to use for better art? Post by: sjonnoh on December 11, 2008, 01:56:54 pm I want to make some art on my computer about the samurai pizza cats, but I only have paint. I don't know any other programs for it, also don't know where to look. This is the best that I could make in paint (it ain't finished yet)

Post by: sans soul on December 12, 2008, 02:44:16 am nice pics, you're doing good with MSP. when i first started doing drawings on the computer, i used Paint too, but then i bought a scanner and mostly just uploaded my pencil drawings. later on i DLed Photoshop and learned to use that instead. it has way more features, and far better resolution.

As for suggestions for programs, I use Photoshop. But if you want something free that will do most of what Photoshop can do, there's GIMP.

i think his feet could stand to be a little longer and tapered towards the end, and some of his armor could use a bit rounder edges in a couple places, but you're coming along for sure. be careful about the proportions because spc characters can be real tricky. I do have one suggestion, for the forearms: for cylindrical shapes like that, shadows and highlights tend to run parallel to the surface rather than around their circumference. So is there some kinda option you only have to mark a spot and that the spot automatically will be brighter??
