Title: The Koopa Kids meet SPC
Post by: D-Mac on June 05, 2009, 09:05:50 am
Sooo, here's a little somethin' I stumbled upon the YouTubes.
After seeing the first one, I offered to help him out with voice acting, so you'll be hearing me as pretty much all the male characters in Part 2 and any future ones he does.

Might I add, he's doing these with Photoshop and Windows Movie Maker. Geez, someone get this kid Adobe Flash! >:[

(Just a note: There's one use of the "f" word in part 1.)

Nice job on da Vocals D.

So I guess this is the first fan made SPC animation, then?

The first one was kinda slow... but the second one was a bit better :)
if the progressive improvement keeps on, this might turn out to be awesome!

And then I proceeded to laugh myself out of my chair. Second one definitely had better voice acting but is in desperate need of an animation upgrade. Unfortunately, he's using the only stuff I have.  ;-)

Yes, somebody get this kid flash...and an animator to boot.

Harmon O'Brien: Marvel at all the slightly-animated visual glory! MARVEL I SAY!  >:[
Romero: Thanks! And technically, yes. this would be the first to my knowledge. Unless one counts short 3D model animations, of which there have been a few nifty contributions over the years.
sjonnoh: Hey, I'd love to see more people have a go at making SPC-type animations! And you wouldn't even need your own microphone, as I noted, *I* started doing most of the voicework for this fellow in his second video. I'd be more to happy to help with anyone else's.  ;)

And hurrah for noticable improvent! Yes, I do hope such trend continues as he gradually get better acquinted with the programs he's using, and drawing the SPCs. And Flash at some point would be swell too! Though it sure does cost a pretty penny-- if we're talking *legal* Flash, that is. :O

I was always planning on trying to animate some stuff from spc, only I don't exactly know when I'm going to do this, at 1st rate I've got to buy a tablet, which I will do soon, makes it much faster to draw everything. 2nd... I need to figure out about what the small vid should go about, I was thinking on some attacks I had in mind which I used in some fanfics I'm working on

I can see this evolving into something bigger. Without the use of a Moon Stone. With each iteration, the animation can get better; you can get more voice actors; and maybe even have a story.

He could purchase an education version of flash for much cheaper, that's what I did a few years ago. Only difference is in the TOS stating you're not allowed to use it in a commercial environment (make money off it)

if you mean animationg as "Pics put together that when showed in fast motion seem to be moving", then is a not. There where a few gifs ages ago, some even hand draw.

Your voice acting was great on the second video there, D-Mac.

well, I already finished the 1st step: buying a tablet!
onlythe second step changed: get it working.... for some reason it can't install on my pc, guess I have to figure out what the problem is.
anyway, talking about voice acting, isn't it possible to change your voice with some kinda computer program so you might be able to get the voices from spc or knt?

well i think there are stuff out there for the voice change of spc charachters im not a computer genious [not a genious at all] but i do know there are stuff

Mechadon: Indeed, I am keeping high hopes for this one. And tackling more of a story would be especially nifty! Let us hope. Lettuce hope, I say!

felineki: Thanks much! I had a ton of fun recording for this, and am particularly hoping Speedy gets more than one line next time around. ;)

sjonnoh Congratulations on the new tablet get! Is it a "Wacom Bamboo", by chance? Those seem to be pretty hip lately. -- But, yipes! Really sorry to hear about the techinical issues, and hope you can get it working soon. I've always enjoyed your art, and am looking forward to seeing what you can do with it.

Aaaaand, onto voice acting. Various editing programs do allow one to artificially deepen or raise the pitch of their voice, but there is no "magic button" of sorts to recreate an SPC or KNT style of performance. In the end, just like any other form of acting, it all comes down to the actor or actress playing the part, and what they can do to really bring their character to life.

Now, another option could be to just re-use and edit together audio clips from the show... although that greatly limits one's creative options, and would more than likely end up sounding disjointed and unnatural.

senatance mixing to make one will take a very long time and a lot of observation but im sure with 52 episodes of spc they will be words that you can mash and break

they use a lot of sentance mixing on youtube poops and stuff but get them exactly right then bobs your uncle

who thinks if pizza cats is remade they should employ d mac as the narrator if the original cant be found

I'm not sure "exactly right" is even possible, since most of the show's dialogue seems to have music or sound effects playing over it. But who knows what them talented mixers out there could pull of! :O

Really kind of you to say that! If that were to soooomehow happen, I'd be begging the director to let me also play Guido. He and the Narrator were both originally voiced by the very awesome Terry Scammell.

No matter how much they improve the animation in this series (I hope it's a series), they should still keep the stick-figure guy.

ehh, how'd you guess it was a bamboo??
anyway, I didn't had much time to look what might be the problem, I guess I'll look at it in the weekend. Also to bad to hear there is probably no way that you can change your voice, I really wanted to make at least 1 episode that would look so real.... well I guess I just have to make some sort of amvs that I just create myself or searching for people who almost have the same voices as the pizza cats  :P

woa, now the tablet finally works but really.... never new it would be way diffirent. 1st of all I thought that, when you draw at the tablet, you would also see what you are painting on the tablet, but too bad it's not  :'(
I really have to practice a lot on it

after you learn how to not look at what you're drawing, it'll be easy.

you mean you always draw on your tablet without looking on your screen??

You get used to using a tablet sooner than you'd think. It really does become second nature, so just stick with it and don't worry at all.
And of course you look at the screen. Your hand moves but your eyes stay focused on your monitor.

I actually plopped down $1000 USD for a 12" wacom cintiq (tablet with a monitor built into it) and it too requires getting used to (again even, different from the first time using a tablet) Since everything is still a little askew, not only are you having to not pay attention to exactly where the pen is touching, but now you're looking at where' you're drawing again, as opposed to becoming used to the disconnect of eye and hand like a traditional tablet.

Sometimes I think I should've just saved my money, but it is fun to look at your hand and see the drawing take shape again =P

I'm almost done with 1 pretty easy sketch.... to me it's not exactly the best I made ofcourse but for something I made on the tablet.....

btw I asked if sans DIDN'T watched her screen, but only at what she was doing on her tablet :3

this may be unnecessary
dont put music that makes the a double ss holes at wmg annoyed if you thinking of making a finish with music

anyway good luck sjohnoh if you can make good videos [which you can] i dont see why sjohnoh cannot pull this off brillantly

well, I don't know why I shouldn't make an animated clip from spc (fighting style) with music. it's just some kinda amv, but then from my own animated paintings :D
songs like mortal kombat themes, music from sum 41, the Rasmus, george thorogood, rise against or simply soundtracks from naruto or knt itself should do the trick  :D

mortal kombat would be brillant defo suits the pizza cats fighting style

but no ones stopping you from putting any track you want on it brother!

but i have every confidance that sjohnoh will be the henry ford of this  =]

good luck

anybody ever seen this vid?:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvjZ6VkLuCM

this is, kinda, the idea I also want to do. Making an animated vid with only music, no voices (ofcourse 1st I got to used at the tablet, but it will :P)
