Title: What is Fear?
Post by: BurkeWorld on August 22, 2005, 04:58:44 pm
This game, called F.E.A.R. is a paranormal First Person Shooter (FPS) and was first shown at this years E3. Currently, there is only a demo of this game released, yet it already looks and plays better than all of HL2. (F.E.A.R. stands for "First Encounter Assault Recon.")

*WARNING*

-> This game is highly violent and bloody with some very nasty scary parts in it. (Think of The Ring mixed with an action shooter to give you a little taste.) And has some grusome scenes, therefore it is rated "M" and not recommended for the younger crowd here.

-> It's a very HIGH END game! If your machine isn't up to date or strong, don't even install it. It takes more processing power than HL2 to run even remotely smoothly. However, if have a strong computer, you can download the Single Player Demo HERE (http://www.whatisfear.com). (662 megabytes, not for dialup users either.)

Here are some screen shots I took to give you a taste of the atmosphere.

#1

Some very nice water effects and the errie darkness.. I played this game at night and I didn't want to venture on without my flashlight. O_O

#2

This "bubble" effect is for explosions. When in full combat with the enemy and someone lets off a grenade, the area where the expolsion is located, a large "bubble" type effect takes place giving a very awesome, Matrix-Style effect to the fighting. There is also a "Slow-Mo" power your character has, very much like Max Payne and Bullet Time like the Matrix, but this is done very well.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/SpeedyX/Fear2.jpg)

I give this game a 9.7/10

If you really want to enjoy the full effect of this game:

-> Get a powerful computer.
-> Play at night.
-> Turn off all your lights in your room.
-> Crank up your sound.
-> Get freakin' scared.

Enjoy!

Agh, at the moment I only have:
Athlon64 2800/Gigabyte nForce3 mobo (socket 754, already old with no dual channel memory controller)
1 GB Corsair Value RAM (CAS latency 3)
ATI Radeon 9550 256MB (DDR) (no PCI-e for me)

8) nice setup

Yeah, my PC was killer when I built it.  By now, as the next Gen games come out faster and faster, It's finally starting to fall behind.
I find myself repairing and building systems for clients that surpass mine :O, time for a new Graphics card and more Ram.
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ HT /Abit KV8 Pro mobo (socket 754)
512 Corsair HP XMS PC3200 Ram
nVidia GeForce 5700 AGP 8X

Hl2 and CS run fine, gotta turn stuff down for Farcry, BF2, and now...F.E.A.R.

You want outdated, I have an IBM from 1981, yes, 1981...
if you think the Linux Operating system is hard, try 4-tran.
You have to actually enter commands in the coding language. :O

system_exe_run "end post"

AMD 64 3000+ (Socket 939)
Gigabyte  GA-K8NS Ultra-939
1 GB of Coursair XMS Pro DDR2
AGP 8X 128MB Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT (overclocked)
Sound-Blaster audigy 2 Value soundcard
ATI Theater 550 Pro TV Tuner Card
AhtenaPower 550Watt Switching Power Supply
Western Digital 200 GB SATA Hard Drive

Yes, mine may have a lot of crap on it, but it is still obsolite. It can barely run BF2 at 60 FPS! I need to upgrade to a better mother board, processor, and videocard. I must have PCI_express 16X with sli 6800 GT at least.....

Actually, the Only A rated game is San Andreas.
The First One in ESRB history.  All those porno games are either unrated, or M

My bad, San andreas is the only game to Change to an Ao rating from something else.
There's like 18 total games that are Ao, just check the ESRB site.
http://www.esrb.org/ (http://www.esrb.org/)
(link to ESRB, and weirldy san andreas isn't Ao on there at time of posting)
