Fewture/Artstorm apparently recently displayed some prototypes of the latest installments of their "ES Goukin" line of SD robot figures at a show event. But the interesting thing is, the display included the KNT logo:

So it would seem that they're intending for someone from KNT to be featured in this line. 8O This would be a big development, the first piece of KNT merchandise in over a decade.

Cool! That could be the beginning of a new era for KNT!! New toys can make the producer to make new episodes or at least broadcats again the old ones in an offical way!!

I know, I'm daydreaming...

At the very least, it's likely to remind a lot of people about the show. In the near two decades that have passed since its airing, with only a slightly less than half complete VHS release to go on, there are likely to be a lot of people who used to enjoy the show but have since nearly forgotten about it. Simply seeing this toy might be enough to trigger an "Oh, I remember that show!" moment for a lot of them.

Looking at the rest of the line up, I'm imagining either the Catatonic or one of the Goonie Bird suits.

I don't know about a new tv show, but this is goood. They must know that KNT still has nostalgic popularity if they're teasing it this way.

Yeah, the logo over the black background looks dramatic and cool... Like a poster for an upcoming movie... If they make Nyaggo King they must do the 3 Nyankees and their toritsukkun armors... If they have successes they could bring the Otasukes and their crusher too...

Found some interesting facts while doing more research on this. One of the other figures in this new lineup is Tekkaman Blade, seen in the upper-left of the above image. Tekkaman Blade is a joint coryright of both Tatsunoko and Sotsu Agency.  Tekkaman Blade has also, just this week, had a limited edition DVD boxset released (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-a7-49-en-70-3f1u.html). KNT also happens to be a joint Sotsu Agency and Tatsunoko copyright... and is also having a a figure released.

...I hope I'm not being too optimistic, but I'm seeing a bit of a pattern here...

STILL, this is great! Contrary to our belief, they HAVEN'T forgotten after all!

Suppose 4Kids DOES dub it, and decide to pay homage to the Original SPC Dub, by breaking the fourth wall constantly, and referring the Big Cheese as a rat. It might be good for those who grew up watching THAT dub, but what about the SPC Faithfuls?

Still, seeing characters like Gold Lightan and Tekkaman in the toy form makes me think of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. GOLD... SHORYUKEN!!

But that dance of joy would seem like something Big Cheese and Jerry would do after defeating the Pizza Cats, one time. I just wish I could do the same, once my family's desktop computer tower comes back, in a few weeks. It got shorted out during a nasty thunderstorm, when lightning struck a phone pole outside our home, and shorted out the DSL Box, and in turn, the motherboard of our computer.

I haven't come across anything new on this yet, aside from the fact that during my searches I've noticed a couple more mentions on message boards and stuff, so a few people seem to have taken notice. Wait a minute! Late September? That's the same timeframe as the Tokyo Game Show. Of course, it wouldn't be a coincidence, if the new KNT toy would relate to Tatsunoko vs. Capcom? I mean, Gold Lightan does. However, if the Pizza Cats DID make it into the game, it would be a great thing for us all. Then again, the new toy might as well be the Supreme Catatonic!

^^ Here's the toy series on artstorm's site... only a few of the characters from the lineup are available for preorder now, and I haven't found any mention of KNT anywhere... :( The ones shown look really nice, though! If they do end up releasing a KNT item I reckon it will be handled really well.

I have managed to come across other sets of photos from the same event (ACGHK 2009), but none of them seem to give a good view of that poster display.

Anyway, someone informed character designer Tenko about this development on his blog, and it's apparently news to him.

Just to ask this in advance, but what would be the best way to purchase any such KNT figures (if they should be made) from, say, the UK?

I'm not sure where the best place to order anything would be, ANE. After Googling "ES Gokin" it looks like there are a few stores were already taking preorders for the first few figures in the series a few months ago. I've been trying to keep up on the news, but still nothing yet as far as I can tell. The 2009 Fall Miyazawa Model Show just took place just a couple days ago, and Artstorm had an ES Goukin display featuring Goshogun and Jeeg, the first two figures in the series. According to this blog post (http://www.blog.amiami.com/amiblo/2009/11/1119-1.html), there were fliers for the upcoming Baikanfu and Godam. No mention of Teyandee, though.  :-\

I'm still inclined to think that something fishy is going on, as this rumor seems to have originated from a single picture. But, if the flier we saw is legitimate, I would guess that the new toy will be released to celebrate the upcoming 20th anniversary of KNT. Either we'll hear about it sometime next year, or it will never happen... just my $0.02

Yeah, that thought has crossed my mind, too. That's why I've been trying to look for any corroborating photos from the event that picture supposedly came from. One report (http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/blog.php?tid=103966) includes a link to a Photobucket account that is said to have additional photos, but I can't view it because it asks for a password... :huh:

Either Yattarou or Nyangoking seem to be the logical choices, so that wouldn't surprise me.

In 2008 Tatsunoko remade Casshern by his 35th anniversary. And Yatterman by his 30th anniversary.

Maybe Tatsunoko would remade KNT. KNT was a success in Europe and America but in Japan Yattaro, Sukashii and Pururun went unnoticed.
Casshern and Yatterman made oneself known in the West thanks to the remakes, maybe the Nyankii will be more famous in Japan (if there is a remake) but in the West they will be still considered as some of the best anime heroes.   8)

A new series would be cool  but just if it's a sequel of the original series (Like the Saint Seiya Ovas that we had a couple of years ago) instead a remake... Every remake just ruin the original characters with the new designs...

A sequel... It would be BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!! Imagine that there is a new KNT manga. And that new manga should be published in Shonen Jump (Maybe it should replace Kochikame, I heard that everyone is getting tired of Ryotsu)

Honestly, I'd rather see the original series get a good DVD release than a remake/sequel. And Petrov, KNT actually had pretty good ratings during its run according to this article (http://www.animenation.net/blog/2007/08/02/ask-john-was-samurai-pizza-cats-successful-in-its-time/) which cites Newtype magazine.

A sequel would encourage tatsunoko to relase the original series on DVD... Also the KNT had a really open end... Koon didn't look to be happy and wwe all want to know what would be his new evil plan... A new series would start with the city's reconstruction and karamaru being an ally of the Nyankee (Think about him like Phoenix Ikki, Tuxedo Kamen, Blues/Protoman, etc)... A new villain with a more serious story would be welcome without scrap the silly humor of the series (That's the cause of why I hate Dragon Ball Z)...

A new series that go deeply in the backgrounds of the characters and answer questions like: How yattaro, Sukashi and Pururun became the Nyankee? What's the truth behind Kuroi Busho and Nyaggo King? Are there more karakara armors like the one that Karamaru got? KNT showed that is is able to have serious moments in the unique 3 episodes that needed 2 chapters for be fulfilled...

If we get the same old KNT with more focus in story and battles we will have a bomb!!

I used to want a sequel, but I don't know if they could pull one off now. I'd settle for a good DVD release like felinki said. However, I always thought "the manga" by T. Souma would make a great movie. Better than just splicing the first and last two episodes together.

Nothing new on the KNT-specific front, but there is some news about the ES Goukin line in general. The line has suffered from numerous delays, and as far as I can tell the first two figures (Goshogun and Jeeg) are just being released this month, and the next three (Getter 1, 2, and 3) are scheduled for February. Just the other day Artstorm updated their website with pics of the finished Godam with a release date of "Summer 2010". So if we do see anyone from KNT in this line, it might not be for quite a while yet.

Ugh..that'd be right, wouldn't it?

Haven't offered my two cents on this topic yet. Obviously, if it goes through, this will be a fantastic anniversary present for the fans of KNT/SPC.

I'd love to see a Sukashii or Otama figure, but it would seem that Yattarou/Nyangoking will probably be the winner. Although you'd have to think that Pururun would be in with a good chance...

There have been lots of delays in the production/release of this line, and the most recent show displays have only included the currently available figures (Goshugun, Jeeg, Getter 1,2, & 3) and the next one set to be released (Godam), omitting several of the previously-displayed prototypes (Tekkaman Blade, Gold Lightan, Dancougar, etc.). So it isn't looking good, but all we can do is wait and see. I've been trying to keep up with the latest developments, but there isn't much to be found.

Never the less, I thank you for keeping tabs on the situation. A bit of news is better than none at all.

So once again, thaks felineki. Let us know if anything devlopes.

And actually, it turns out that there has been yet ANOTHER delay that I hadn't found out about. The 3 Getter figures were supposed to be due out in February, and as far as I knew, they had been released. But they haven't, they've been pushed back to May. Goshogun and Jeeg are the only two actually released so far. And Godam's currently scheduled for "summer" release.

Yet more delays! The Getters have been pushed back again, to July. And Godam's apparently scheduled for August. Still no word on anything after that. Came across an archive of a Futaba thread (http://futabachan.info/view/may/117975075) from a few days ago where this line, it's constant delays, and worries of cancellation were being discussed. In particular, one poster speculates that the Teyandee figure might draw a lot of demand from people who otherwise wouldn't be interested in the line at all.

It's been about a year since that initial display, and yet still no more information it seems. The Getters have been delayed yet AGAIN, now slated for September release, and Godam's still due to to come out this month. The biggest news with regards to this line is that there are now apparently Saint Seiya (http://hk.myblog.yahoo.com/iam-trevor/article?mid=12265) characters planned... but still no word on the previously displayed models (Dancougar, Tekkaman Blade, and of course whoever they were planning from KNT).

Well in my first dream last night, I found a bag of small SPC figurines. But, damn it, even in the dream I was robbed of my moment of bliss, as after I purchased them I realized I was dreaming.

I blame Inception. Lucid dreams have been an extreme rarity in my life. But I've had three ever since watching that awesome movie, including this one. The too good to be true nature of finding those figures brought me to the conclusion that I was dreaming, that even though I could crinkle the plastic of the bag, those figures weren't actually mine.

I was Sylvester Stallone, I was racing a bunch of people in a big-ass truck. I managed to make it to third place near the end of the race, then my truck flipped over inside a tunnel. Then someone lent me their motor bike, so I was like, "Yah I'm still in this". But then I crashed the bike too. Ended up cutting my finger open, exposing the bone. And some doctor guy runs up and is like: "I need to mend this or it will get badly infected." I felt my health was better than winning some race.

Gordam has finally been released (but the Getters still have yet to be), and painted prototypes of Dancougar and Tekkaman Blade have been displayed, along with three new Gaiking prototypes: link (http://soulofchogokin.altervista.org/post2434.html). Still no news on KNT... but at least it's looking like the line isn't completely dead yet.

Wow, I'm surprised they're making a new Nyagoking/Catatonic figure! It looks much more dynamic than the old one, which was very boxy and limited in flexibility. Very nice find.

I don't think they've actually been released yet, I haven't seen any pictures aside from the promotional ones. It should be out sometime this month (unless it gets delayed yet again).

I would really like to have one of these, but I almost feel like I'm too old to enjoy it at this point.  If only they had made something like this when I originally watched SPC (or even released the UK figures).  I STILL may have to buy one.

I just put in an order for one. It's a bit expensive, but as an SPC/KNT fan I want to help support the show and merchandise related to it. I'd love to see this sell well and have other characters follow.

Yay for customizable expressions and higher quality than the old figures from the 90s!  I hope these sell well so they'll make some more characters.

Wow...the designers really went the full distance with this toy, didn't they? Customization of facial features; the "Extra Topping" battle armor, all three incarnations of the Ginzu/Masamasa Sword...seriously, if I get some spare money and find it up for sale on someplace like Amazon, I might definitely give serious thought towards making a purchase. Anything to show my enduring love for my first real introduction to anime and furry series.

My figure just arrived! I'll share my impressions later.

I was going to get this after I bought the artbook, but now I'm having a hard time deciding. It's a really high-quality toy and the customizable expressions make it extra-cool. I can't wait to have this Yattarou toy towering over all my mini KNT figures just like he always did in the KNT ending credits. ;)

Impressions
Quality is very nice. Paint applications are nice and clean, no mistakes I can find. Quite a bit of articulation is packed in, the SD nature of the figure means he doesn't end up being super flexible, but it's definitely not for a lack of trying. I do wish they had added knee hinges though, I know Tongmeng EX's figure had them. Sculpt is nice and accurate, right down to the little details.

Parts that are yellow in the show are a nice semi-metallic gold, helmet's lens is a semi-metallic blue. The parts that are light blue in the show (belt, Mega Up shoulder armor, etc.) ended up being a bit darker and more grayish than the early promotional pics let on, but it doesn't look too bad in the end.

Sword blades and shuriken are a very nice shiny silver. Each sword has its proper handle and hilt details. Since the end of the sheath becomes the handle of the second sword in the show, the end of the sheath was made removable here for when you want to display him using both swords. This is a nice concept in terms of attention to detail, but I find the sheath end doesn't want to stay in place well and the seam it forms is a little distracting.

Metal parts seem to be limited to the chest block and Mega Up breastplates. The former is enough to give him just a little bit of weight when you pick him up. The inclusion of 2 Mega Up breastplates is a very nice touch. One is for displaying on Yattarou, the other is for displaying on Toritsukkun. The latter has attachment points for the helmet crest, the former doesn't. In comparison, the old Edomae set's breastplate's attachment points were a little distracting when displayed on Yattarou. The way the Mega Up breastplate attaches to Yattarou's chest is rather ingenious, the red triangle on his chest is a spring-backed joint that a peg in the inside of the breastplate fits into. The helmet crest had two swappable parts that fit into the round opening in the center, one is a transparent blue lens for displaying on Yattarou, the other is an attachment point for attaching it to the breastplate on Toritsukkun. I find the latter is a bit hard to remove once in place.

Helmet is removable to replace face parts. You can mix and match the 3 pairs of eyes and 4 mouths to create a total of 12 unique expressions. The Mega Up face mask is a separate part that is attached in place of the normal face parts. One very interesting detail here is that the head piece inside the helmet actually has some details from the helmet-less model sheet sculpted into it. The round joints on the sides of the head, hair, and ears are there. But the topknot is missing due to a slot for attaching the helmet being in its place.

Toritsukkun's neck can slide inwards to made it a bit shorter for when he attaches to Yattarou. His eyes can also rotate to face forward while the head faces up, just as seen on the model sheets. A stand with a flexible arm that can plug into Yattarou's back is included. You can display him jumping and such. However, I don't think there's a way to attach the arm to the fully Mega Upped Yattarou, which is too bad since it would have been cool to display him in a flying pose.

The packaging is also nice, particularly the back of the box which has a cool "mid-transformation" shot displaying the Mega Up armor flying in toward Yattarou, and the outer sleeve which has a new piece of artwork by character designer Noritaka Suzuki.

Those are my initial impressions. I'd highly recommend this figure to any SPC/KNT fans, although it seems to be hard to get a hold of for a decent price. The manufacturer's suggested price is $428 HK, which comes out to about $55 US, but most people seem to be asking for double that. The fact that it's not being distributed in Japan also means there are fewer places to buy it from. But it is one of first pieces of SPC/KNT merchandise to come out in decades, so if you can afford it, I say go for it. The fact that this figure seems to be considered the first of a subseries (ES-PC01 as opposed to the usual ES-## , "PC" presumably being "Pizza Cats") has me looking forward to future entries. Personally, in addition to Pururun and Sukashii, I'd love to see a Karamaru with Komusoutector parts.

I just bought ES-Gokin PC-01 Speedy from Ebay. It was €99.63 which is a huge price for me but with the DVD set coming up I couldn't resist! ::)
Luckily a dude was interested in my Shogun Warriors Grendizer and I was able to sell it to him, so that worked out for the better xD

I do not plan on getting the Supreme Catatonic, but I do hope Polly comes out as well!  :-*

I got my ES Gokin Speedy for a few weeks now, the build is good though I kept having issues with the neck.
And the back part of the Ginzu sword is a pain to keep in place. It didn't came with a pizza though that was fixed by stealing it from Mikey.
Over all I am pretty happy to just display him in default mode In front of the place where I will be putting up my KNT/SPC/MMPR dvd sets when I buy them in the next two months.

I am sad that there's no news on the ES Gokin Nyagou King yet. At least an update on the paint job would make me happy.
Though not as much as an ES Gokin release of the other Pizza Cats :)

BIG NEWS!

Earlier this month Art Storm had a display at Chara Hobby Hong Kong. On display was the prototype for the Es Gokin Supreme Cataonic we've known about for a while. Let's see, I paid 100 euro's for Speedy plus 25 customs costs. So I'll need at least 375 which is exactly 5 months of saving.
I am hoping for a end of the year release for the Great Catatonic and late 2015 and late 2016 for Guido and Polly.

That way our wallets will know mercy  ;)

If there's anything this line is known for, it's delays and long waits. :P So you'll probably have plenty of time to save up. My relatives just paid me for catsitting for them while they went on vacation; I think I'll put that money away towards these.

A painted Nyagoking prototype was displayed at the recent Wonder Festival. (http://yaplog.jp/masineiyuden/image/2992/16667) The weapons' colors are based on the show rather than the old toy. Seeing as WonFes is a primarily Japan-oriented event, this has fueled speculation that this time the figure might actually be sold in Japan unlike Yattarou's initial release. This would likely make it easier to buy one due to more stores handling it. Yattarou himself was also on display, maybe he'll be getting a rerelease?

The ES Gokin lineup was on display again at the Toy Soul 2015 event in Hong Kong this weekend. Nyagoking seems finished now, the forehead dome that was previously shown as opaque is now translucent, showing the little beckoning cat inside. Tenko himself seemed pleased to notice this. (http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/robototenko/40077734.html) Also Pururun and Sukashii, while still unpainted, now had their Toritsukkuns in tow. Yattarou's also still being shown, which is making it seem more and more likely that he is going to get a reissue, in case you missed him first time around. Word is that this time they'll be getting a wider release this time, unlike Yattarou's initial release which was restricted by rights conflicts. Also apparently there was word at the show was that there's a vinyl figure collection in the works. Nothing to show yet, but if it's true, then there's even more merchandise to look forward to in the future.

Yeah, it really is looking great. Odd that the Dynamite Action one is double the price when they seem about equal in quality. At any rate, some variety is never a bad thing. It's great that in 2016, 26 years after the show's debut, we have two different companies making Nyagoking figures.
