Title: Omocha no mori no Kokono (Tenko's work) Post by: Daisensei on October 02, 2009, 04:54:08 pm We have customarily seen Tenko's illustrated blog in one of EE threads (http://www.edoropolis.org/forums/index.php?topic=1836.0). In his blog frequently appears a little girl called Kokono, referred by Tenko as 'kanban musume' (literally, 'signboard girl'). I have been very curious about this, but had no clue what he means.
After a little Google research, finally I reached Hobby Shop Section 9 (http://www.bidders.co.jp/user/8698010/a61001/) web site, where one can see short mangas (yon koma manga) drawn by Tenko. It's very funny. Kokono is a kind of fairy from some magical world ('Omocha no mori' = 'Forest of toy'). Her mission is to save the toys that have been long forgotten by their owner. P.S. Vol 8 added, this is the first one with the translated sound effects (ofuro in vol 3 was technically the first translation note)... let me know what you think, I can go back and add them back into the previous strips if there is enough interest (I still have all the files). Well, you kinda already gave your opinion there :P ... but I appreciate you sharing at least, I wouldn't have asked for input if I didn't want it.
As far as purity goes... you can't get more pure than the raw comics... however not everyone wants to take the time to learn japanese to read them. I opted to just make translation notes for the sfx here instead of actually editting out the sound effects and putting in english sound effects. The artwork doesn't need to be distrubed as much (can focus on mainly just editting the bubbles). Specifically in vol 8, it allowed the reader to know that the car was actually moving without advancing straight to the next panel, these things would be lost if it were just left untranslated. edit: Vol 2 attached in case tinypic ever goes down Title: Re: Omocha no mori no Kokono (Tenko's work) Post by: Hayama on July 25, 2011, 04:02:01 am Vol 9 added, sound effects were kind of overpowering on this one, but important to understanding the action of the panels.
