Title: Number 28 in Cat Fancy List Post by: CRBWildcat on January 23, 2010, 10:22:05 pm The March 2010 issue of Cat Fancy included a list of "45 Favorite Fictional Felines", of which the Pizza Cats ranked #28. The entry was as follows: "These felines run a pizzeria by day and protect Little Tokyo from all semblance of crime by night".
Personally, though, I have to wonder whether anyone on the staff actually watched the series. Around the time that the show started to appear in the U.S., Cat Fancy published a review. Amongst other things, they got Polly's and Francine's personalities switched around, and included lasers in the SPC's arsenal of weaponry. Other than something like that being used by General Catton, I don't remember those being used too many times. Nice to know they were being thought of, though. You Need a Hug? =] Title: Re: Number 28 in Cat Fancy List Post by: felineki on January 24, 2010, 06:19:59 am I used to have a subscription to Cat Fancy many years ago. Fictional cats is a fairly narrow topic, so for a list of 45 it seems natural that they'd be on it somewhere. Thanks for the news. I'd be interested in seeing the whole list out of curiousity.
Title: Re: Number 28 in Cat Fancy List Post by: Tigerdbnb on January 24, 2010, 06:31:06 am Hurray! P.S. Why is "Hug" capitalized? :) I have no idea actually, I had to give it feeling ;) Title: Re: Number 28 in Cat Fancy List Post by: blind2d on January 24, 2010, 02:13:48 pm I wonder where Felix and Garfield ranked... Still, this is totally cool to see!

Title: Re: Number 28 in Cat Fancy List Post by: Tigriss on June 27, 2011, 10:24:05 am Ever since I read this topic, I've been wanting to post this letter (http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq268/Teyandee/Samurai%20Pizza%20Cats%20Kyattou%20Ninden%20Teyandee/Cat_Fancy_letter.png) and the article that came with it. But when I tried searching for it the first time, I couldn't find it. It took me a while, but I finally located it a while back and now I've decided to scan a copy for all of you. This was from 1998, so it was around the time when I was sending a lot of Pizza Cat related mail, which included everything from trying to get the show back on the air to seeing if there was a way to get SPC more into the public eye, thus gaining more supporters for the cause. Turns out this magazine was one of the few companies I'd written besides Saban who had actually heard of the series.
Enjoy. Title: Re: Number 28 in Cat Fancy List Post by: Blackcat on June 27, 2011, 10:27:51 am Thank you very much!

Lol.. I don't remember that being one of Speedy's traits. Title: Re: Number 28 in Cat Fancy List Post by: Someone who does Something on June 27, 2011, 07:24:08 pm Nor do I, I always thought he had a normal intelligence, and not "intelligent" cause he is not "intelligent".
(I made no sense, didn't I lol) Title: Re: Number 28 in Cat Fancy List Post by: Tigriss on July 03, 2011, 08:31:51 am "Leading the pack of these feline crime-fighters is Speedy Cerviche, a fast-talking, intelligent cat who's always joking." Lol.. I don't remember that being one of Speedy's traits. He may be silly, scatterbrained, and directionally-impaired, but that doesn't mean he's not intelligent. Besides, "intelligent" could mean so many things. He's more intelligent than a goldfish, perhaps? More intelligent than the average housecat? Polly gave us two options for what's inside his head, so I suppose it all depends on whether it's oatmeal or sawdust. ;] Pollygirl disagrees with ALL of you. You people know so little. She also had a skewed perspective of reality and a strong bias about the personality of the characters, particularly Guido. So who cares? |
