Pizza Cats. Doraemon. Kogenta from Onmyou Taisenki. Many other cats.
They all wear the same kind of bell.
Does this kind of bell have a name? I wanted to buy one, but it's hard to search without being able to name what you're searching for.
I tried queries like "japanese cat bell" and whatnot, other things, I searched in several pet shops in real world (well, within my hometown's boundaries), but no avail.
I beg for help :-\

I also noticed that, although I can't remember in which animes, but I can swear I've seen the same bell a lot of times

Oh, I've seen that bell.

I've seen it many times.

~Harm

I have to agree with Harm on this.

I have bells exactly like those as  Christmas tree decorations. I don't see the big deal or why they would be a "japanese" type of bell. They're just bells. And if you can't find a bell like those ones then...
sucks to be you?  ?:|

I have to say that those are just regular cat/reindeer/whateverbells, at least in sweden.
I have a lot of them for Christmas decorations, and you can find them in any store that sells sewing accessories.

Real funny  :/ Is insulting me that necessary?
Everyone else, thanks for answers.
Although, I admit I'm a noob in real life, but I feel kinda even more stupid after this topic :-\

That bell definitely is an archetypal cat accessory in Japanese media. This thread aroused my curiosity, so I decided to do a little research. In Japanese, it's "neko suzu" (猫鈴), although as mentioned you can likely find this sort of bell in many places around the world. According to this website (http://homepage1.nifty.com/manekinekoclub/kenkyu/chisiki.html#%E9%88%B4) the tradition of attaching bells to cats in Japan is traced back to the Edo period, when cats were luxury pets for the upper class. The bells would let the keepers easily keep track of their prized pets so as not to let them get into trouble or run away.

Finally! I found it. Bought it today at the Animatsuri 2010 anime con.
As if someone cares, but I just felt like sharing.

Dude, it's just a bell. If it were a genuine "worn by Speedy himself" bell, then I would care.

Not you again with your "sucks to be you" comments. You can find this kind of bell easily? Good. Shove it.
I'm not bragging, I'm just sharing my joy. Yet you feel you have to break it.

then I would care.
Doesn't matter to me, believe it or not.

That's actually really cool.
Indeed  :-*

ring~ ring~  :D

I do have a cat... Not a Samurai Pizza Cat though  :D
However, it's actually sized in the way it's meant to be worn by a human.
But I don't think wearing it in public will cause much positive reaction  :D
( sick sad world  :'( )

Just wear it, if you get in the problems ring it and maybe Fran will send someone to help you...

Sorry to be bursting your bubble (or bell).

If it can make it up to you. If you were still wondering what these bells are called, they are either called "sleigh bells" or "jingle bells".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jingle_bell

Nothing japanese about them.

Nice looking bell you've got there. ^_^

How does it sound when you jingle it?
Also, do you know what metal it's made from?
Finally, a less-serious question... Does the star mean when you jingle it, you get visited by Sailor Scouts, the Tokyo Mew-Mew gals, or someone else?  :O

Haha, damn right! :D How could I forget what's that thing actually for?
Alas, it would bring too much attention. Both the bell and the Rescue Team.

Nice looking bell you've got there. ^_^
Thanks!

How does it sound when you jingle it?
Maybe I'll record it later.

Nope...

Haha, I wouldn't mind if I could summon Sailor Senshi!  :D
But I think that denotes something I'm not yet supposed to know and I'll be told at the end of the series  :P
