Title: Final Fantasy VII Post by: BurkeWorld on September 23, 2005, 12:42:42 am When I played FF IV and VI, I thought they were the two best FF's ever. (Mind you, I've tried XIII, IX, and X and X-2) but seriously, out of the whole bloody series.. FF VII has to be the best one.
I've just obtained a fully working copy of FF VII for the PC and it seriously kicks ass. The graphics aren't good, but the storyline and character development is the best I've seen in ANY game. I'm addicted to it now, I have to keep playing it. I have Cloud, Barret, Tifa and Aeris in my group now, as I've only completed about 7% of the game. Any thoughts on the FF series? Don't even get me started on Advent Children, that deserves a thread of it's own. Final Fantasy 7 is a good game. It's story is very good, it's characters are loveable, ect... It sucks that some of 'em die... but I guess that's what the writer wanted. Overall, it's pretty good. However, I'll still take EarthBound over it any day. :-* Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: BurkeWorld on September 23, 2005, 01:31:17 am Quote from: KyoZaber However, I'll still take EarthBound over it any day. :-* I tried playing EB, but I just don't see what's so good about it.. It was kinda boring and too silly for my liking. =\ Burkey Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: Kazzie on September 23, 2005, 04:22:50 am I agree, FFVII is awesome. Though, it totally consumed my life when I played through it the first time. Man.. it's so addicting. But it does have a really good storyline. Sure, the graphics aren't that great, but I don't care about graphics when it comes to video games, as long as it's fun and has a good story. :D

I just finished the first disc in one sitting.. Man I'm bushed, but the story is just so cool. Sephiroth is badass... VII and X are the greatest for me, with VII taking the cake. Cloud is the best rpg hero I've seen and the rest of the cast are as good as well. For the X... well... it has great story and summon system, but I hate, absolutly HATE Tidus as the main hero. X-2... no comments.
Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: BurkeWorld on September 23, 2005, 06:40:22 am Final Fantasy VI and VII are my top 2, for obivious reasons.
Man, my buddy told me years ago when he was playing VII for the first time, he cried at Aeris death scene... -_- Dammit, I hate getting attached to these characters, but I can't help it. Die, Sephiroth, die. Burkey Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: Oscar86 on September 23, 2005, 07:48:22 am Well, when I saw the moment I didn't exactly cry. I just couldnt belive it. I went like:
"What the heck ?! Did Seph just kill one of my characters? This can't be happening!" And I was really pissed that you couldnt prevent it, no fix it later in the game. Let's hope the newest edition for the new PlayStation will have a few script rewrites... for example Aeris not being sliced, or the possibility to prevent this outcome... Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: SCerviche on September 23, 2005, 09:06:20 am yea ff VII is a pretty good game but i think its kinda overrated. I like the materia and limit breaks, but i think ff VI is an overall better game.
Kefka > Sephiroth Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: Methid Man on September 23, 2005, 10:20:01 am Easy with the spoilers, guys; not everyone here's played FFVII before. I was thinking of getting it until I read this post...

Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: Methid Man on September 23, 2005, 10:25:39 am Well I've never been a fan of the FF series so I never bothered to look into the story. A friend of mine recently spoke to me about it and suggested I at least try out FFVII to start.
No spoilers period. -- Sam the Methid Man Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: Valkyrie on September 23, 2005, 12:12:12 pm FFVI is way, way better than FFVII, not only is the bad guy totally insane and not just a guy who didn't have enough love in his life, KEFKA FREAKING MESSED UP THE PLANET! Seph. just didn't do that.
And Earthbound is awesome. :) Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: SCerviche on September 23, 2005, 12:51:25 pm also Kefka poisoned a whole kindoms water, thats pretty badass in my book.
Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: adam808 on September 23, 2005, 12:52:14 pm I love its silliness, personally. Go get an SNES and the cart :)
Earthbound forever. Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: SBaby on September 23, 2005, 01:47:45 pm Anyone see the PS3 Tech Demo? Despite only being the opening scene, I can watch that over and over. I guess that means I'm still hooked on FFVII after all these years.
Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: Oscar86 on September 23, 2005, 07:26:30 pm KEFKA FREAKING MESSED UP THE PLANET! Seph. just didn't do that. Spoilers ALERT!!! Maybe we've been playing two compleatly different games, but whats that big, old bad comet that comes falling down on the world in the end of FFVII? Seph also messed up the whole planet. Not wrecked a big-ass armageddon as it was his intention, couse Cloud and the bunch (and the planets spirits including the one of Aeris), stopped him, but he still managed to mess up the world pretty good as we can see it in the ending and also in FF:AC movie. Like ruining a whole planet would be a mega-big achivement in Squares games 8).... Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: BurkeWorld on September 23, 2005, 10:19:46 pm Yeah, it was weird, I tried the newer ones first, then the old ones, just never FF VII until now.
I hate to say it, but FF VII > FF VI by a hair... Burkey Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: SBaby on September 30, 2005, 11:49:37 pm Well, when I saw the moment I didn't exactly cry. Let's hope the newest edition for the new PlayStation will have a few script rewrites... for example Aeris not being sliced, or the possibility to prevent this outcome... The death of Aeris... One of the most controversal (and famous) moments in RPG history... I hate to say this, but about the only rewrites that wouldn't screw up half the storyline would have to be the many... many translation issues with the game. It's not unplayable, but translation was one of the reasons that the ending was initially confusing. (Holy wiped out ALL technology that Shin-Ra had created. That's the secret if you weren't sure.) Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: ApacheMan2K on September 30, 2005, 11:55:28 pm i won't take your word for it. i have to get myself a copy, so i can finish the rest of the game. the farthest i've ever gotten is the very beginning of Disc 2 :/
Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: BurkeWorld on October 01, 2005, 12:42:34 pm i won't take your word for it. i have to get myself a copy, so i can finish the rest of the game. the farthest i've ever gotten is the very beginning of Disc 2 :/ Aww dude, the story is just getting good then! You gotta get it. Burkey Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: Guido64380 on October 01, 2005, 02:22:04 pm I played this at a friends house once. We got to the part where you climb the support for the city...thing and you fight the guy who uses that prism thing. at which point we lost.
Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: SBaby on October 01, 2005, 07:44:12 pm I do have to say the best stuff happens on Disc 2. You need to finish it.
Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: Ravenos on January 18, 2006, 12:51:21 pm The words
I NEED A PS3 (when its realised that is) are springing to mind. I love FFVII, i have the game, the OST, AC etc etc. I went to Paris a week before christmas and saw they sold Rinoa (Pfft...) models in the Virgin Megastore on the Champs-Elyeese (sp?) and hunted the store for a Cloud and Sephy model, as they where part of the set made (with Yuna, again Pfft... i despise X and X-2) The music from VII is god awesome, the graphics are kinda annoying but the gameplay and storyline kick ass I laughed and cried at so many points i lost count Oo... Music from when they found Cloud near the Lifestream is on lol 'From the Edge of Despair' I also have a copy of the Final Fantasy VII Piano Collections, which are amazing FFVII is just the best game ive ever played And its likely to remain that way unless Dirge of Cerbures (spelling IS wrong there) is any better. God bless VII and Nobuo Uematsu whilst im at it lol Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: BurkeWorld on January 18, 2006, 01:30:07 pm To the above poster, despite all spelling errors and whatnot, I agree %100.
^_^ Burkey Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: Ravenos on January 20, 2006, 06:47:49 am I would rather have Tifa die instead of Aeris, or even that annoying Yuffie... god i hate her.
Aeris is my favourite, i share my birthday with her lol 8O Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII Post by: SCerviche on January 20, 2006, 02:39:29 pm Final Fantasy VII was cool back in 1997, not anymore.
i still have my ps1 and ff7 for it, but i played threw it once and got the stroy down, nothing really more to talk about. |
