Title: SPC 25 - Pizza Cat Performance Review
Post by: cartoonking10749 on September 23, 2005, 12:44:09 am
I have to say that this is among my most favourite episodes since the Pizza Cats are faced with working in the suberbs while the Rescue Team takes over at the main Emporium. This story shows what happens when the Pizza Cats mess up big time. The episode really was highlighted on the Rescue Team and shows just the four of them against Ninja Crows and "Robot of the week", displaying their individual and combined skills.
      Other good highlights includes:

Francine doing some actual work in Pizza-making (unfortunately for her, she was confided to Gen. Catton's sumo-favoured parlour). She also has a moment at the end, where she is silenced by Guido for talking too much.

A grudge between Pizza Cats & Rescue Team, which Speedy bares the most throughout the episode.

The two masterminds of Big Cheese & Jerry Atrick pitted against the clock literally (a timer onscreen), to discuss evil plan of the week

Lucille letting off blank missiles (that don't explode like her usual supply).

Polly laying the smack down on over too-friendly sailors.
    [/list]

Yeah, you get to see the side of a main character that's really rare to see.  In fact, this is one of the few Animes I recall seeing a main hero act in that manner.  Of course, like all good comedies, it turns out alright in the end.

    Ah I loved this episode…

The Rescue team was a lot better than the main team at attending the Emporium^_-.

And yes, the ninja crows can be easily beaten by almost anyone...

This is actually one of my favorite moments in the entire series. "You mean the writer has only given us 31 seconds to explain our part in this ridiculous story?!"

Not only do Cheese and Jerry have just 31 seconds to explain their part of the plot, they're also forced to come up with a clever name for the robot!! In true corporate style, they palm off this distasteful chore to the long-suffering Bad Bird. (This is very funny dub writing! Well done, Robert Axelrod!) Ultimately, it is the robot-of-the-week who decides on his own name, 'The Monster Masher'. Another highlight of the show is Polly getting violent after being harrassed by the fishermen, and punching the camera lens when the narrator says a little too much...   ;] 'OH, BE QUIET!!!!!!'

    mm episode 25.

I've just finished the high quality dub of this episode, and have to say this was the first SPC episode i saw in the UK.

(yes we didn't get them in episode order sadly.)

The plot was quick, intelligent throughout, and also had some of the best 'mock yourself' gags of the show so far.

the clock scene was a git to lipsynch as the audio i had was not quite a second for each beep.

well thats my little addon for the review. lol

How is it possible that after so much laughing out loud, was Bad Bird able to get a case of Lockbeak? I guess it can be possible, huh?

This was a great episode for several reasons:

    1. It was nice to see The Rescue Team get a shot at working the Emporium/battling the bad guys the way Speedy, Guido, and Polly do. The Rescue Team worked very well together--especially when handling the day-to-day duties of the Emporium.

They were also humbled by their defeat at the hands of the robot of the week, which was something that I really liked--not because I don't like them, but because they were able to appreciate Speedy, Guido, and Polly more.

    2. It was nice to see Speedy, Guido, Polly, and Francine get punished for their screw ups; they were able to see what it's like to be on their own for a change, and I thought that made for a nice change of pace.
