Title: The few and the proud.
Post by: Crow on September 17, 2010, 01:58:07 am
Following in Cloud-Boy's footsteps, I am becoming a Marine this November. I'm currently in the DEP at the moment and training my ass off, in this case, literally. I've dropped about 20 pounds and gained much more muscle. I ship out to Recruit Training this November then begin my career, as according to my ASVAB score of 85, I can become Military Intelligence.

I will take these last few months to mingle and prepare, but when RT rolls around, I will be gone for a long while. It's time for me to take the next step in my life, never thought it would be this way. I've been sworn in as a member of the US Military and I can't turn back now. Time to train.

God speed.

Wow... that's something... I'm proud of you, and very happy that you're willing to make such a commitment and everything.
Good luck out there, and know that my thoughts are always with you.
Okay, that sounded cheesy. Sorry about that. But yeah, I think it's really great that you've decided to do this, and I'm behind you in it 100%.
It won't be the same around here without you.
Thanks for being you, and not taking any flack from anybody.
If I were there in person, I would be giving you a handshake right now.

As long as you don't end up in some scandalous video with some asshole throwing puppies off a cliff, I'm sure you'll do fine.  ;-)

Remember, you're brain is a more powerful weapon than your gun.

The same goes for your enemies, so shoot for the head!!!

Best of luck.

Dear Jesus. What have I done! Well, it could have been worse: You could have been an Infantryman like my dumbass.

I can remember what it was like: Regardless of what a badass you were, the moment that you set foot off that bus at MCRD (IN San Diego for us west of the Mississippi), I went from tough guy, to scared little b****. The next week is a buch of administrating bullshit and sleep deprivation from hell. Suddlently, after you finally feel you have adjusted, you are thrown from your Receiving D.I.s to your actual Drill Instructors, and you find out that the last week was not the worts yet. Mess up, and you get the quarterdeck, the longest minutes of physical fitness disguised as punishment ever. And the constant pattern of "Hurry up and WAIT!" will drive you nuts! You will do things over and over, until perfection is achieved...or else you get the quarterdeck. Yes, Bootcamp will indeed revolve around a constant fear of the quarterdeck. And the rest is for you to find out.

I've been doing my research, QD'ed and Pitting sounds hard but kinda fun at the same time. My recruiter is an awesome guy and has really helped with my progress.

Had an IST today, improved on my run and sit ups, but still can't get more than 3 pull ups.

I will get more soon, I got until March until I ship out.

Better work on that then. If you can get atleast 10 pull-ups, you will be money, since they are worth 5 points a pop. if you can get 100 crunches after that, easy 1st class PFT. The running is not that big of a deal. I do a 22 minute 3 mile, which knocks 24 points off my score, and get over 270 PFT. Just work on the other 2. not saying you shouldn't run, just that it doesn't factor in as much.

Yeah, up to 5 pull ups now, so I am making progress.

75 crunches and I haven't timed my 3 mile yet.

Good ol' PFT's.

Good progress. I will also tell you something that will motivate you: The higher your PFT, the higher your cutting score will be when you get Lance Corporal, and the faster you'll pick up Corporal. It's a vicious cycle, one that stops once you get Sergeant, since Staff Non-Commissioned Officer promotions  are different than Non-Commissioned Officers.

Yah... well I'm still climbing that "Warrant Officer" mountain.
