starting next spring, i'm planning on expanding my limited knowledge in Japanese by taking online classes. but, i can't find a good college to enroll to. so, can i have some advice or recommendations on what schools to check out, please? thanks!

Online colleges and courses are bad news. I've heard tons of people were scamed from their money and got nothing in return. So don't do onloine anything. They're bad.

That's not ALWAYS the case, Andy, I've taken many online courses and they were fine.

Am2k, just look for something that is accreditted by a college/university and then actually phone call the place and ask how the system works.

True, there are scammers out there, but choose something sponsored by a big name school, that is legit.

i think it would be alot better to actually go to a class then do it online, its going to be really hard learning such a complex language like japanese without a teacher there to help you.

same here. i need to not just be able to speak more fluently, but also be able to write in the correct grammar. i know a few elements of Japanese grammar, but not all of them. so, i definitely need a teacher. unfortunately, no college or university in town has online Japanese classes, and i don't plan on moving outside of Houston to go there, partly because i'll still be taking three other courses in the spring and fall semesters.

so far, i've found Darton College (which is affiliated with University of Georgia), and University of Oklahoma. but, i haven't confirmed the cost, or if the right classes are available.

I don't think that Japanese is such complex language, Portuguese has a much more complex grammar structure. However Japanese is VERY different of English and other western languages. Owing to this, I should teach  Portuguese more easily than Japanese to English speaking person, despite its higher complexity.
By the way, I am writing HTML files with Portuguese and Japanese scripts of KNT episodes. If Tigriss, Puutaro-kun or somebody send me the English version of KNT 02, I could include it. Who knows if these 3 languages texts could help to learn Japanese?

ah yes, i've heard of how hard Portuguese really is. it seems easy compared to Spanish, French, and Italian since they're all based on Latin, but i've heard talk that Portuguese is actually one of the hardest languages in the world, along with Russian and Chinese.  :O

i do find watching subtitled anime or playing subtitled games somewhat helpful, although i can tell that the translation is not direct. such is the case in games like "Soul Calibur II", "The Bouncer", "Samurai Warriors", and "MegaMan Network Transmission".

your HTML idea does sound promising; we could learn some Japanese, and some Portuguese at the same time! or, when it comes to Portuguese fans, Japanese and English, and with Japanese fans, Portuguese and English. i gotta say, that would sound quite helpful! *thumbs up*
