Title: Duckula DVD Release Post by: Methid Man on October 14, 2005, 10:14:44 pm This is old news, but I just found out from Toon Zone (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=6234) that they've recently released Duckula on DVD.
To those of you who don't remember it, Duckula was a British-produced show from Cosgrove-Hall (same guys who made Dangermouse) that used to air on Nickelodeon in the late 80's/early 90's about a vampire duck who is brought back to life with ketchup (instead of blood) and thus re-emerges as a vegetarian. He travels throughout time and space in his teleporting castle on several adventures a la Rocky-and-Bullwinkle with his manservant Igor and a stupid nanny named...Nanny, all the while being chased around by a vampire hunter called Von Goosewing (not to be mistaken for Van Helsing). I hardly remember this show, but I still cherish whatever memories I have of it. From Looney Tunes-style cartoon clichés to catchy cross-talk, this show had everything. And that's saying a lot for a show made by small-time producers (though it was partially funded by Nickelodeon). While it's great to see almost-forgotten classics like this be revived on DVD, it makes my evil eye grow all the more stern against Disney to get their lazy asses off their chairs and make an official DVD for SPC... :/ -- Sam the Methid Man Title: Re: Duckula DVD Release Post by: Blackcat on October 14, 2005, 10:35:37 pm I remember the show, but I’m still saving my money for a “never going to be released” Swat cats DVD…

Title: Re: Duckula DVD Release Post by: Daisensei on October 15, 2005, 04:30:32 pm Probably Duckula was never aired in Brazil. Nevertheless I know the existence of that show, since I used to have a Count Duckula game for my TK 90X (a Brazilian clone of Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer). The game wasn't crap, but wasn't good either.
Title: Re: Duckula DVD Release Post by: Foxhack on October 19, 2005, 07:13:26 pm I wanted to buy this set, but two things stopped me from doing so.
First, no spanish language option. Hey, the voices were excellent. Second, the series didn't even get properly encoded. I've heard some really awful comments on how many film problems exist in this set, including smudges and graininess... And also, here in Mexico, "Canal 5" strated to renrun it. I miss my childhood.
