Title: KNT 20th Anniversary Anthology Doujin
Post by: Violet on April 20, 2011, 04:35:48 pm
KNT 20th Anniversary Anthology Doujin
I just received this today.  It is a 100 page doujin (fan made book) featuring 11 different artists and writers (including Tenko).  It was sold at the Winter Comiket in Tokyo (Late Dec. 2010 I think).  It's mostly comics, with a few fan fics (in Japanese of course).  The doujin is "all ages" rated, however, there was a separate 10 page "18+" booklet (2 pictures and a fan fic) that was released with it.  Also included was a little 2 page flyer supporting the release of a DVD set, and a packet of Pizza Cat restaurant coasters.

I'll include some more pictures and sample scans later.  If you want to buy this book, your best chance will be through Yahoo! Japan auctions.  You can use a service like http://www.rinkya.com/index.php to buy from outside of Japan.

Francine in that image looks, well...yeesh.

The art inside is much better than the cover.  The cover is by Yuki Kosuzu, who organized the doujin and is a big Karamaru/ninja crow fan.  She draws the crows well but isn't the best at drawing the cats and other characters.

The doujin's organizer (Yuki Kosuzu) actually made a comment to that effect... worrying about how the cover looks in comparison to the inside content. I think she finished it not long before the book was to go on sale. Anyway, she acknowledges that she isn't the best artist out there, but draws out of pure love for the show. Which is a pretty admirable attitude, I think. A lot of times I find myself discouraged with my own drawing attempts and wish I had that kind of devotion.

The front art kinda reminds me of those early polygone games like Alone In The Dark.
But still, thats the biggest tribute to SPC\KNT I've seen in awhile.

Oh, my! That is most certainly quite something!  :-* Wish I had the money to afford it.. but even still, I'm glad to see stuff like this is still being produced/sold, even if I can't purchase it.

The front art kinda reminds me of those early polygone games like Alone In The Dark.

Hmm.. yeah, it does kind of look like that a bit. The art on the inside in the other photo is amazing, though.

This is one more proof that there are still many KNT fans!

Well, is nice to see the show is popular enough for people to make cash still having unofficial stuff made....

It's referring to all the times Otama's aim has been off when launching the cats, of course. :francine:

Here are some sample pages.  I can't really scan this book without damaging it because pressing it flat would ruin the spine.  Lets hope the digital version will be offered for sale.

Very nice, thanks. I like the page with "Cyclone Okara" showing up to rescue Karamaru from Usahime. Pizzacat has had some email exchange with Yuki Kosuzu, and from what I can tell she is planning to sell a digital version eventually (probably on DLSite or some similar site), but I don't know exactly when.

I always thought Okara should make a stand for her love and put Violet in her place.

Sorry princess but your bird is in another castle.

I knew Okara's fans would love that page.

Yuki seems a bit xenophobic with the lengths she went to in making a point to exclude any non-Japanese artists or overseas sales, so I hope I'm wrong and she won't mind taking our money if there's no language barrier or waiting in the post office to deal with.  Even though I have the paper copy I'd buy a digital copy.

You know what scan made me sing "money is what I want", right?

I just like Otama so much...

Thanks for explanation. :)

I was mostly joking. It's probably just a typo.

I always thought Okara should make a stand for her love and put Violet in her place.

While I always enjoy seeing more of Okara, I don't think this works. It's too out of character. She's a pacifist. The other females in the series may wield their pans, missiles, naginatas, or just kick butt in general some other way, but I can't picture Okara as an action girl herself.

That's a shame. I would have thought potential monetary gain would outweigh any dislike of dealing with us gaijin.
