Title: Tortillas
Post by: Alistair Erie on November 20, 2005, 12:11:13 am
I live in Arizona, so my diet pretty much revolves around the tortilla (nay sayers, look at what you are eating  =]) . I was wondering if people who don't live so close to Mexico eat them as much or at all(.?) (I'm not sure if a question mark goes here)
Please tell me about your tortilla based eating habits.

Well in Pennsylvania we eat the store bought ones sometimes. The Chi-chi's Mexican restaurant near me was closed down becuase they were using meat contaminated with the T-Virus or something.  So maybe once or twice a year I'll eat a tortilla.

I'm not sure if I should be offended by this topic, or amused.

And well, I -guess- I eat tortillas. Then again, I live in Mexico, so.

Edit:
I'm surprised there's a Wikipedia article -on- Tortillas...

being a Houstonian, i've had my share of Mexican food, such as tortilla chips, enchiladas, chalupas, and such. Texas is loaded with Mexican, or Tex-Mex, restaurants, from Casa Ole to Gringo's. and, of course, there are plenty of Taco Bells and Taco Cabanas in town.

Wikipedia has everything, even things you don't "need" to know ^^;

They're alright depending on what you put in/on them.

I like to melt cheese on them to make quesadillas, or make little burritos with some beans or meat.

There are tortilla chips, and there are totopos.

Tortilla chips, everyone already knows about. Think Doritos, but without the cheese. Totopos are harder, thicker, bigger, and most importantly - deep fried (most of the time). If you've ever gone to Chipotle, you can get some really good ones there. That is one AWESOME Mexican food restaurant. Not perfect, but for an American franchise, it is simply excellent.

Are you sure? Try to find Mexican communities where you live. There's bound to be -someone- that sells or makes them. We're all over the world! Even Canada!

i like to put some lettuce and diced tomatoes on my nachos, for a fresher taste. but, i always have the jalapenos removed first.

No, I'm not from Canada. Besides, Taco Bell's are all over the place!

Ah, I thought you meant you were from Canada.

Also, Taco Bell is -NOT- Mexican food.

nope. in fact, Taco Bell was founded by Glen Bell, who was trying to sell something else besides burgers and hot dogs.

Wow. 4 year necromancy!

But on the subject of food. In Liverpool, we've got a local food called SCOUSE

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scouse_(food)

Looks horrible, but is rather nice. Even though I don't eat it myself.
