Title: Drunk Kung Fu Post by: Marurun on December 20, 2005, 05:52:10 pm I was having some fun looking for martial arts vids on Google Video and came across this amusing demonstration. You wouldn't wanna mess with this dude during happy hour :D

The drunken form is nothing more than a "warm up" that can be applied to any of the five animal forms: Tiger, Crane, Snake, Panther, and Dragon. Rarely monkey and wolf. The moves are purposely exaggerated to help stretch muscles but hold no actual merit in real combat. Their is no "real" drunken style, this guy looks like he is doing drunken panther warm ups, but his form is so sloppy its hard to tell. :O

Title: Re: Drunk Kung Fu Post by: Supersonic on December 25, 2005, 07:20:38 pm Shun Di disagrees.
Title: Re: Drunk Kung Fu Post by: Blackcat on December 25, 2005, 10:34:18 pm The drunk stile is one where you move like drunk to confuse the opponent with random movements. It has been showed in dragon ball, Mortal kombat, animes and some martial arts action movies, including some done in Korea or China, so yes, is a true fighting style.
Title: Re: Drunk Kung Fu Post by: Threaux on December 26, 2005, 03:42:59 pm Quote Shun Di disagrees haha yes Shun Di was the man, but he was actually drunk, and did more of a snake/crane thing.Quote It has been showed in dragon ball, Mortal kombat, animes and some martial arts action movies. Um yeah; no disrespect but if Dragon Ball, Mortal Kombat, and anime are showcaseing true fighting styles I better start working on my ability to fly and shoot beams of energy out of my hands.ok I don't want to sound like a jerk but drunken kung fu is defined as: Drunken kung fu Drunken kung fu is not truly a system for the techniques are not unique to it, only their application. Deception and surprise are used, making it into a sort of elaborate pa kua. (pa kua is an internal system aka practice/ meditation) There are no forms. -Shaolin Gung Fu(Kung Fu) Institute Title: Re: Drunk Kung Fu Post by: Foxhack on December 31, 2005, 04:41:00 am I've always considered drunken kung-fu as a mishmash of different styles used to confuse opponents. I've never thought of it as a real fighting discipline.
In fact, I use something similar in arcade games - I act erratically, without a pattern, to confuse opponents and find openings. It's not the same as real life, but I'd consider them, at the very least, to have similar applications. Sure anyone hit with a bat enough is gonna go down. But if they know what they are doing then you couldn't get a swing off before they disarmed you. Next you are to say you don’t need a tail do fight in the monkey style, yeah is true, but is funnier the other way… Title: Re: Drunk Kung Fu Post by: Marurun on January 01, 2006, 02:17:17 pm Guns > any fighting style 'Nuff said. -- Sam the Methid Man Many guns>Any fighting style... One gun<Almost any fighting style That's the truth. Well put. ................ If I had a gun, or any other projectile weapon for that matter, all it would take to kill, or at least incapacitate, my enemy is some aiming, a reasonably good distance and at least one bullet (balls optional). I don't care how fast the guy moves. Give a guy a gun and you turn him into Superman. -- Sam the Methid Man Title: Re: Drunk Kung Fu Post by: Marurun on January 03, 2006, 03:44:47 pm Dude, have you ever seen an expert martial artist fight? They look pretty much like cats going mad. Trying to aim at something that moves that fast and randomly would be kinda hard if you ask me...
