Title: ATTENTION: If you are having problems with the YouTube/embedded videos... Post by: cuchulain on January 29, 2013, 07:25:36 am I just switched to a new version of Linux, and inadvertently figured out the reason people have had problems. It had to do with some browsers not liking the flash plugin and the way the board uses them. Here is what has worked for me:
FireFox with Adobe Plug In : Yes. Chrome with Adobe Plug In : No. Chrome opted in to HTML5 Beta: Yes, but some videos aren't available yet. Epiphany with HTML5 Beta: Yes, some videos aren't available. I hope that helps, and let's keep posting relevant videos! Post by: Purrcat on January 29, 2013, 07:46:45 am I read some things about flash on 64 bit Linux systems, that it's really unstable/doesn't even work on 64 bit browsers. Are all your tested browsers 64 or 32 bit binaries?

Post by: cuchulain on January 29, 2013, 08:21:02 am They are all running 64 bit, I've made the switch completely over to it and I really don't want to go back 32 bit binaries unless i have to. In the tattoo thread, someone else had the same problem, but I'm not sure if it was 64 bit Windows or Linux. HTML5 works great, it's just that not every YouTube video is compatible at the moment. Thanks for looking into it, Purrcat!
EDIT: Also, just to let you know, I am technically running IceWeasel. Debian fine tunes Mozilla for their Linux distro, so I don't know if it is tweaked beyond normal Firefox in some way that makes it work. The newest Windows tower I still have is Win 98, so I can't test it from here. Still though, 64 bit LInux has come a long way, you can watch YouTube and Hulu perfectly with 64 bit Debian doing 1080p when applicable (and the Adobe plug in, no less). Post by: AlienCat on December 24, 2013, 03:33:27 am Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but it looks like youtube has taken to using an iframe to embed videos now. The old embed method, as used here, no longer works
