Let's have a vote. I want an idea of how many of you are actually going to buy the DVDs. If you post here even occasionally, please make sure you participate in this poll. And if you pick option 5, I'm going to shake a pan menacingly in your general direction.

Already pre-ordered KNT, just waiting for SPC to hit Amazon...

I have the KNT ones on preorder already. I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford preordering the SPC ones right away due to having spent quite a bit recently.

I plan on getting both, but I probably won't be preordering. Since I'm living in Japan at the moment, I'd rather wait for them to show up on Rakuten or Amazon.co.jp before I buy (international shipping rates, using money in my bank account here vs. the one back home, etc). Most American anime dvds/blurays these days do (as they are much cheaper option compared with the Japanese releases for collectors), but they rarely are available for preorder before release. So I'm just going to sit tight for a bit.

ETA: Nevermind, just found a preorder on Rakuten so I went ahead and ordered it!

I chose 'Pre-order and eagerly awaiting', but I'm not sure if I'll pre-order.  I may wind up biting the bullet and just doing so....I was going to wait until the A'Cen convention in May, having made the KNT set a 'shopping list' item, what with Discotek being one of the featured booths that will be in the dealer's hall this year.  Pending no family or other emergency arises, that's still my plan.

Either way, I still plan on getting both sets.  This has been too long of a time coming NOT to.  The show was my gateway to anime.  For that and other reasons, it has great sentimental value to me.

Maybe Burke can indulge me with SPC merch for my birthday... *winkwink, nudgenudge* >;7

I WANT to buy the SPC set, but man, at $50+ on Amazon it's just too expensive.  :/

But it's a box set.  The SPC set has 8 DVDs, so that's really only $6.25 per DVD at $50.  Anyway, as an SPC fan you have to find a way.  Maybe you can't afford it now, but you NEED this!

Listen to Vi, it's worth every penny for a 52 episode boxed set for a series as old as this. We tried for YEARS to get this officially released. There were petitions, phone calls, letter writing campaigns, and more, yet it seemed like nobody was ever going to listen to us until now. Discotek deserves to be rewarded for this, and we, the fans, who have waited so long for this day, should make every effort possible to support this.

I think you need to add a Rule #11 to your list: "Own SPC on DVD". Otherwise, your "Spoiled Princess" title might just be revoked... >;]

I do feel that I need to buy this. I caught the Pizza Cats on tv in 1997, and went back on the wagon in 2005 via the internet. It's been a loooong wait, but we finally got our DVDs. I'll do my part and buy them. That way, Discotek will know that it was (and still is) worth it.

I'm still shocked and overjoyed even after all these years that anime is about on par with the price of an American tv series.  Treasure that.  Treasure it, while the stores may have all your money, you have all of the animes.

When I bought FLCL is was $30 a disc with 2 episodes per disc.  Lain was $100+ for 12 episodes.  Anime has come down a TON in price and is way easier to get legally in general.

I'm planning on ordering it from Amazon. The only problem is that there's only 3 in stock. They'll...order more, right? I don't want to miss my chance.

Discotek doesn't do IT shipping for the moment I was forced to buy them off Ebay. I trust the retailer.
Its just that we both didn't know if disc 2 was the defective version or not. I hope that works out.

Any way any word on the Australian versions from Madman? I wish I could have gotten those to be honest.

Hey guys, I'm still alive! Sorry I haven't been around for so long. Anyway, I really would get the set if 1) it weren't so 'spensive, and 2) I didn't already own pirated DVDs of all the episodes. So, some day, yes, of course, just not in the near future, regrettably. Glad to see folks still use this site. :)

I'd already bought Dragon Ball Z: Rock the Dragon Edition for $59.99, that was enough splurging for me at the time...

But great news! I waited, the set dropped $30 in price and I was all over it. The DVDs arrived yesterday and I'm watching 'em now!  8)  Now I'm reliving my childhood for $2.50 a DVD plus shipping.

I'll be getting the SPC set for my birthday. I've been a fan of the show for a long time, and along with being a great show, it also serves as a nice piece of nostalgia.

Have Discotek started doing international shipping yet?  Because if not, I may have to stick to my (admittedly very well put together, with proper artwork and everything) pirated copy from Ebay.

I believe so. When you go to their website, you can select the item and add it to your cart. Then they take you to a page where you can click on "ship outside the US" or something. I tried that, and it then asked me to put in the country.

Actually they have been internationally shipping since day 1 of the DVD release and even back when they were taking pre-orders. I pre-ordered both copies and they shipped both to me here in Australia and reasonably quick to. They even shipped the replacement DVD free of charge and without being asked (Their first batch of DVDs had an encoding issue on one of the DVDs, that is now fixed in all the current copies they make)

I got the DVD of SPC for my birthday, which was yesterday, and it looks amazing; each disk has the logo and it looks like a pizza. Very creative.

I'm happy to own this show on DVD.
