Jazz Jackrabbit 1/2/xmas - was the fastest pc platformer of it's era. 5). Fireball 2 for the Acorn Archimedes. (1990) the best breakout clone ever. yea, being in the games industry does marr your perception. so yea heh neko Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Blackcat on February 16, 2006, 05:32:53 am This are my current favorites:
1-Alien hominid: For being a fabulous game and teaching those 3D freaks that 2D can still be fun 2-Legend of mana: For being a great game with a great story, good art and excellent music. And having that much freedom of choice. 3-Chrono Trigger: For many, this is the best RPG ever, liked even for those who couldn’t stand any other RPG(Unless it was old school, like Dragon quest), like me. 4-Mario Kart 64: For millions of fans, this was the best Kart racing game ever, I have great memories of this game, Jumping, we miss you!. 5-Jazz Jackrabbit: It was 1993, and in a world where most played videogames in consoles and arcades, this game proved PC games don’t have nothing to envy to console or arcade games. And don’t think being in the game industry clears your vision, on the contrary, the existence of some really awful games releases in the last few years can only be explained by many programmers losing the “sight” in a metaphorical way. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: D-Mac on February 16, 2006, 07:46:14 am 4-Mario Kart 64: For millions of fans, this was the best Kart racing game ever, I have great memories of this game, Jumping, we miss you!. The Mario Kart series still has jumping. It was re-added after the GC version. =P Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Blackcat on February 17, 2006, 11:38:49 pm 4-Mario Kart 64: For millions of fans, this was the best Kart racing game ever, I have great memories of this game, Jumping, we miss you!. That's true, I've always felt that Mario Kart multiplayer on consoles was something really special. Hopefully the Arcade Mario Kart gets ported to GC soon, as it includes jumping and even brings back the coins from the 2D versions. Lately whining does work when it comes to Nintendo. They've been doing an excellent job the past couple years, when it comes to listening to general consumer demands. Now if only they'd bring the Mother series on GBA outside of Japan... Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Pizzacat on February 19, 2006, 09:31:01 am 1) Total Annihilation...Big bots with killer eye beams wins over the inner child in everyone.

To put 15 years of gaming into 5 slots is a hard choice...
5. Chrono Trigger - Probably the longest RPG I have continuously played, since the extra mode allows you to keep going and keep leveling up. Awesome storyline and plot. And the graphic design was excellent for its platform. 4. Super Smash Brothers: Melee - An extremely huge and neverending game. So many different people with so many different styles, you may never encounter the same experience twice. 3. Dance Dance Revolution - I've been playing for about 2 and a half years, and it doesn't get old. As long as another "Extreme" or "DDR: Mario Mix"doesn't come out, this game series should stay strong with fans. 2. Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door - Amazing sound and intreging plot. A great culmination of all past Mario RPG's. Also, quite challenging to use your head with. 1. Silent Hill - Forget the upcoming movie. This was the original horror for gamers. Probably the best known first game in a horror series, it had incredible gameplay with a great story to match. Title: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Mechadon on April 16, 2006, 01:01:15 am My top 5 game series. Sorry, but it's much easier if I state which series I like than individual games themselves. These are in no particular order.
Halo, Sonic, Half Life (Counter Strike included), Command & Conquer, Star Wars BattleFront. Other notable games include: Duck Hunt, Twin Cobra, Bonanza Brothers, Doom, Star Fox 64, Super Smash Brothers, Perfect Dark, Shenmue, Civilization, Alien vs Predator 2, Black & White, Battlefield 1942. Each and every one of these titles has brought me new and exciting gaming experiences. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: blackpantherking on May 26, 2006, 01:02:17 am No certain order
Mario series Sonic series (Sonic the hedgehog, sonic 2, sonic 3, sonic adventure, sonic adventure 2 battle, sonic rush, sonic heroes, sonic riders) Zelda series (Zelda 64 and everything after) Metroid series (Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes) Super Smash Bros. series (I can own with anybody) Notable games: SSX series, Yoshi series, Wario Ware. series, Prince of Persia series, F-Zero GX, Soul Caliber series, Tekken series, Street Fighter series, any stealth game, Power Stone 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. ...yes, I'm a nintendo fan. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: BurkeWorld on June 01, 2006, 03:46:32 am 1) Secret of Mana
2) F.E.A.R. 3) Marvel vs Capcom 2 4) Half-Life and it's mods. 5) Red Alert 2 House, MD Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Kazzie on June 01, 2006, 03:29:29 pm Top 5, top 5... oye, I've played and loved so many games that it's hard for me to pick just five. But I can give it a shot.
1) Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars 2) Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest 3) Chrono Cross 4) Earthbound 5) Katamari Damacy Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Valkyrie on June 30, 2006, 12:05:32 pm Uh oh, new list!
1) Outpost 2: Divided Destiny (hooray for 1997) 2) Legacy of the Wizard (1988, I'm a whole 2 years older than this!) 3) Megaman 2 4) Hitman: Blood Money 5) Riviera: The Promised Land (the music is so awesome) and thats the revised list. 3 E games 1 T and 1 M game. They don't have to be edgy to be good! Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: KunimasaKunimasaOiOiOi on July 27, 2006, 01:04:42 am 1. Armored Core 3: Silent Line
2. Armored Core 3 3. Armored Core 2 4. Armored Core 2: Another Age 5. Armored Core Yeah...I'm a geek for mecha games :) Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: KageReneko on August 24, 2006, 07:54:05 pm 1 - Silent Hill Series
2 - Ninja Gaiden Saga for NES 3 - Castlevania Series 4 - Legend of Zelda Series 5 - KunioKun Series (These are sooooooooooooooooooooooo many) Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: NPC on August 29, 2006, 12:53:05 pm My all-time fave: Majora's Mask. I used to think like everyone else, that Ocarina of Time was a better game by far. But after playing it through, I saw just how wrong that was. The game itself has an ulimited replay factor because of its so-called "time limit." That was what I and everyone else was leery of: Zelda with a time limit. But it is not a time limit. MM has expanded on the daytime/nighttime element of Ocarina of Time. There are three days and nights, and each day/night has twelve hours in which certain events take place or certain people can be found doing something. Depending on if you help someone on the first day, you might be able to give them assistance on the second day and so on. For instance, if you save the local ranch from a cow-snatching on the first day, you can help them again by protecting the milk delivery to the town on the second day. But the ranch is blocked off on th first and second days because of a large boulder, meaning by the time you are able to actually get in, the cows have been stolen and there is nothing you can do. Some quests even last through all three days, making you run around to meet different people and help them out of jams. And if you reach the end of the third day(The reason there are only three days is explained in the game), you merely have to play your Ocarina to take you back to the Dawn of the First Day, keeping your items, but resetting all the events, even dungeons. It is possible to do everything over and over again as much as you like. It is truly a great game. ;-)
One of my other favorites is Super Smash Bros. Melee. I've heard people say it isn't as good as the orginal because it's different. ::) I liked it better because it was different. A couple my fave series: The Sonic series. Probably my favorite game series. The Wario Land series is another one I enjoy quite a bit, Wario being the Mario character I like the most. The Kirby games, River City Ransom, Megaman, the Mother trilogy, the Mario series itself... There are very few games I play that don't become a favorite of mine. ^-^ Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Blackcat on September 01, 2006, 04:56:32 pm 1-Viewtifull Joe(playstacion 2)
2-Megaman X1(playstacion 2, Megaman X colection) 3-Legend of mana(playstacion) 4-Alex Kidd in Shinobi world(Master system) 5-Saint seiya chapter Santuary(playstacion 2) PS: So I got stuck in that part of "Viewtifull Joe" where you get a key from a "girl robot" inside a building And I dont know where the heck to go, is in a room next to one where bombs keep and keep apearing. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: D-Mac on September 01, 2006, 05:02:30 pm 1-Viewtifull Joe(playstacion 2) YES! I told you that you'd love that game! :D I haven't played it in a while, so I'll go back and figure out how to get past there. 8) EDIT: Alright, I've got it. Look up on the ceiling in that room where the bomb is, you'll see glass part that can be broken. Use SLOW to punch the bomb up to that part of the ceiling. ;) Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: BurkeWorld on September 02, 2006, 04:27:58 pm 5) Final Fantasy VII
4) Deus Ex 3) Final Fantasy IX 2) Metal Gear: Solid 1) Chrono Cross Burkey Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Blackcat on September 02, 2006, 09:06:05 pm 5) Final Fantasy VII 4) Deus Ex 3) Final Fantasy IX 2) Metal Gear: Solid 1) Chrono Cross Burkey Why you like more Chrono Cross than Chonno trigger? you can get the playstacion version of Chonno trigger together with Final Fantasy IV... talking about Final Fantasy IV, is the GBA version worty? Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: BurkeWorld on September 02, 2006, 09:15:37 pm Actually, that top 5 list there was my friend.
He was over for a piano lesson as I was checking the forums here, and I just asked him what his top 5 games and anime were. Guess he just prefers CC over CT. Never knew he was a Cybersix fan though, I burned him the whole series onto a DVD for a reward for having a good lesson. Burkey Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: NPC on September 06, 2006, 03:42:08 pm I never played Chrono Cross, but I've heard it's not as good as the first one.
(People probably say that because it's not EXACTLY the same as Chrono Trigger) Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: vvthedemon on September 19, 2006, 07:03:24 pm 1.halo(all series)
2.metriods(all series even thoug i didnt play all of them) 3.hitman blood money 4.tomb raider legends 5.lego star wars Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: littlebadwolf on September 19, 2006, 08:34:48 pm 5. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
4. WarioWare: Mega Microgame$ (GBA) 3. Resident Evil 4 (GCN) 2. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) 1. Misadventures of Tron Bonne (PSX) Out of the five, Resident Evil 4 and WarioWare were both surprises -- I wasn't expecting them to be as good as they turned out to be. I knew the other three were going to rock (metaphorically speaking, of course), and I was right. You'll notice that RE4 is really the only one that doesn't fit a trend of light-heartedness, but it was so good that I liked it in spite of the massive violence and such, which I usually find to be a turn-off. Also, Tron Bonne is the coolest video game heroine in existence, period. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Takila on September 26, 2006, 12:31:51 am Hmm... don't know about favourite, but influential:
5. Halo (PC, first shoote/most overpowered starting weapon) 4. TES: Morrowind (Mucking big RPG, lots of content) 3. Final Fantasy 7 (Took me '01-'06 to beat, 'cause I max my chars) 2. Spyro the Dragon Series (PS ones only) 1. World of Warcraft (First game to make me question my approach to videogaming) I really should get around to playing MGS 1 (Played MG:S 2/3) and the N64 Zelda games. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: NPC on September 26, 2006, 02:34:49 pm Ha...
I have yet to play any Metal Gear games and I didn't play Ocarina of Time until a couple of years ago. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Mechadon on September 26, 2006, 03:15:46 pm It's good to know we got more Halo fans here. I was starting to think I was the only one.
Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: NPC on September 26, 2006, 03:53:48 pm Fear not, I know several Halo fans. 8)
I don't care too much for the game. It's fun, but I've never enjoyed first-person shooters. :-\ Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Blackcat on September 26, 2006, 06:57:39 pm So I got stuck in Viewtifull Joe again, in that cursed aircraft full of oversized missiles, And I cant find a way to pass the part with the missile launcher, even turning the aircraft upside down.
PS: I finally got Kingdom of hearts 1, is a good game. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: AsterCrow on October 11, 2006, 12:34:16 am my top 5 fav games of all time, and why:
1. final fantasy 7. incidentally i associate SPC and FF7 together since GD and Ex got me into playing the game. best game ever. period. 2. mario 3. nostalgia.... my cousins, sisters, friends and even my father were obsessed with that game, and it made for such a great family passtime. 3. DDR. don't laugh or i'll TSUBARU all over your backside. that game saved my sister from doing worse things when she had to be on steroids, and it's helped me tone up. I'd like to see how your FPSs help with THAT. 4. super puzzle fighter 2 turbo. i will annihilate anyone who dares to oppose me in this game. Street Fighter vs Darkstalkers...mmm.... sweet deal. 5. yoshi's island. ...i'm a freaking girl, gimmie a break! sheesh. like you didn't see THAT one coming. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: NPC on October 11, 2006, 04:25:13 pm I LOVE Yoshi's Island.;_; My favorite SNES game.
Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: AsterCrow on October 11, 2006, 11:08:58 pm i forget who, but someone told me that Yoshi's Island was the best platform game ever.
hm... *wonders now if that was Burkey* Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Andy on October 12, 2006, 12:42:34 am ......
Andy (The one who wonders, too.) Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: felineki on October 12, 2006, 02:35:01 am Personally, I think Super Mario Bros. 3's the best platformer ever. Can't beat that Hammer Bros. Suit.
Anyway, my 5 faves (in no particular order) are: 1. Super Mario Bros. 3 (after SMB1 defined the 2D sidescroller, SMB3 expanded upon and improved everything that was great about the original) 2. Chrono Trigger (I don't like RPG's much, but this is one of the two that I really liked, Super Mario RPG being the other) 3. Super Street Fighter II Turbo (the ultimate revision of SF2, and IMO the best. It's interesting to play because it retains much of the "old-school" gameplay found earlier in the SF2 series while introducing some of the more complex systems that would come to define the newer generations of 2D fighters) 4. Vampire Savior (aka Darkstalkers 3; Street Fighter's sister series has some great character designs and animation and is a blast to play) 5. Tyrian (a vertical shooter with a fun upgrade-purchasing system and great music) Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: BurkeWorld on October 12, 2006, 06:01:09 am i forget who, but someone told me that Yoshi's Island was the best platform game ever. hm... *wonders now if that was Burkey* Indeed it's a classic! Super Puzzle Fighter. I always pick Ken, his config is riggggged! I play that on my emulator all the time, I'll take you, you evil Crow! >=7 Burkey ^^ Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Blackcat on October 12, 2006, 07:41:04 pm Nope, Felix the cat (Nes) is the best plataformer ever, you just become an addict until you finish it. Too bad it dint have harder modes to unlock…
Or maybe Cadillac’s and Dinosaurs (Arcade) that game was so popular that they made the TV show because of it. For two players, the best plataformer game for the Nes was "Batman & Flash" sure Flash wasn’t fast and all, but My Buddy and I played that game a lot. It was the most addictive game we played until he got a Nintendo 64 and we keep playing Mario Kart 64 for 20 months. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Black Dragon on November 27, 2006, 08:49:18 pm I'm not going to put these titles in any order because I can never decide where to put which title.
Rez (PS2) I've never come across a game quite like this. The visuals and sound immerse me like no game has ever done for me. Freespace 2 (PC) This game ruled my world for 2 years straight with its gorgeous graphics and intense dog-fighting technique. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (PS1) I love old-school platformers, this one sums up everything I like about them. Doom/Doom II/Final Doom (PC) Let's not forget the first person shooter genre while we're at it. ;-) Aliens Versus Predator 1+2 (PC) Being a big fan of the movies, these games struck a chord with me instantly and represented a truly horrifying gaming experience. Okay, my comments were very brief, but I'm quite tired now. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Helios on November 28, 2006, 01:53:03 am This changes all the time for me but here's the latest one...
1) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) 2) The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Xbox) 3) Super Mario Bros III (NES) 4) GoldenEye 007 (N64) 5) Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox) Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Mechadon on November 28, 2006, 03:54:07 pm Ah yes. AvP 2 was a great game. I always played the Alien. People always accused me of camping just because I didn't use the "Meat-Seeking Missile"** tactics so common with other Alien players. I preferred more of a Trap-Door Spider approach. I never got high scores that way. But I did scare the hell out of people. My tactics were so awkward; players thought I was hacking. It's called a Motion Sensor for a reason. The reason I'm not showing up on your "Radar" is because I'm not moving. I would sit motionless in a dark corner and let them walk by me. Then I kill them from behind.
** This is where you pounce across the map to kill an opponent on first sight. The result is either success or you get your head blown off. A lot of players believe this is the only tactic available to the Alien. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: BurkeWorld on November 29, 2006, 02:33:59 am We should play some AVP2, I used to be a killer Predator.
I would LAN it up with my buds and there would always be a fist right afterwards cause of the ol' shoulder cannon/combi-stick stuff, mwahah. Burkey Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Mechadon on November 29, 2006, 06:37:41 pm I always loved playing in Pred vs Marine games. I always played as Marines. It really gets the heart pounding when your motion tracker says there's something 5 meters infront of you but there's absolutly nothing you can see.
Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Matt on November 29, 2006, 08:17:34 pm 1) Ninja Gaiden
2) Resident Evil 2 3) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 4) Doom 5) Metal Gear Solid. Ninja Gaiden is too lovely. Oh by the way, first post. ^.^ Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: necron9dee9 on November 30, 2006, 05:05:09 pm In no particular order, since I can't really decide which my favorite is: :D
- Halo (4 Xboxes, four TVs, and a truckload of CAT5 cable at my friends apartment. Fun stuff.) - Final Fantasy 7 (Who doesn't like this game? I played through it at least 5 times before my Playstation went poof. I even found a way to keep Aerys alive til the end (though she was completely useless)) - Goldeneye for the N64. - Diablo 2 - Even after owning this game for 6+ years, I can still mess around with it for hours once in a while. - Might and Magic for the Sega Genesis - I really can't explain why I liked this game so much. Wolf nipple chips, anyone? Out of those, the ones that kept me occupied the longest are probably Final Fantasy 7 and Diablo, so I guess those'd take the top two spots on mah list. :D Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: NPC on November 30, 2006, 09:44:11 pm Comix Zone for the Genesis.
Everyone should try it once, just for the chance to see the funny dialogue and the way the company made fun of comics. As would Gradius II's "Take Care!".

Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: SteC on April 03, 2007, 09:53:14 am I'm gonna cheat and put up not 5, but 10 of my favourite video games. Well, um... ^^; because I copied them from another forum I regularly go on and pasted it all into here. Heheh.
Mega Man X - Up til 2004, I have never played one Mega Man game despite how many different titles and sequels were released before then. This is the first ever one I played and I instantly knew I was in for something special, and it introduced me to the Mega Man fandom like it never did when I was young. I thought the music was special and the gameplay took the original NES games a different approach. Old but new, if that makes sense. Mario Kart 64 - Now this is fun. In fact, I absolutely love this version of Mario Kart to bits. Not having a second SNES controller prevented me from enjoying Super Mario Kart and I am really terrible at Double Dash are the reasons alone that I adore this game. Star Fox / Star Wing - Except for Sonic and Sparkster from Rocket Knight Adventures, they really weren't that many titles that focused on anthro animals in the video game market in the early Nineties, except for those licensed games from Disney shows. But that's not the reason why I liked this game. The 3D polygonal visuals and SFX made Starfox stand out from the rest of the SNES library, but it does have its share of awesome 2D spritage! The music is brilliant, too. Final Fantasy IX - If I had to pick which was my favourite FF game from the PlayStation period, it would be IX. Well one of my pals likes VIII because of its strong focus on character development and customisable abilities, and another said FFVII was cool because of its story and the jump from sprites to polygonal gameplay made it so popular. I like IX because of the mix of both features. Plus it's like, one of the last titles to be held in an old, traditional environment like all the FFs from I to VI, so it's appeasing for both old and new fans. The music composer, Nobuo Uematsu, is a genius!! Tekken: Dark Resurrection - Out of all the best games I picked, this one is the most recent. Just like the past 3 Tekken games before it (that's 5, 4 and Tag Tournament), but only made between. The computer AI is more fair than the previous title which I didn't like that much, and each character can be customised to suit your needs. All the important features like Survival and Team Battle are still there, but in Arcade mode, you will fight an infinite number of CPU opponents. I find this the best Tekken game besides 3. Super Mario World - Very addictive, and very colourful. The controls are so ace that it makes you want to dash straight the levels from start to finish without stopping. I keep taking many so-called 'risks' on this game (according to another of my best pals) but it's so good I can't help but keep going if you know what I mean. Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time - E-eeeveryone must have at least heard and played this fantastic game. Much like what Final Fantasy VII did, OoT made a huge leap from sprites to polygons and it did take a while to develop the whole game. Roaming Hyrule is certainly the most exciting part, and then there're the dungeons and all those side-quests to improve your weapons before facing Ganon. Sweet! Star Fox 64 / Lylat Wars - This is what the Rumble Pack is made for. Basically retelling the original story from the SNES, everyone must be familiar with this N64 version. I thought the music was good, but I still liked the SNES music better and I wish it kept some musical aspect from the first game. Oh well... anyway, it introduced three interesting characters, Bill Grey and Katt Monroe, Fox's father James, and also the Star Wolf crew. After clearing a level with those folks, I wanted to meet them again before the end of the game! Heck, I nearly wanted to do a fanfiction at one point!! Worms - I noticed another Worms-lover from another forum, so I brought this up. I only played the PS1 copy of Worms and I still got it today after all these years (about 10). It's hilarious on multiplayer but surprisingly, it's nearly as fun on single player. I don't know, my memory is a little fuzzy on this particular game, but I still remember it as being very fun. Resident Evil 2 - My best friend and I got completely hooked to this game when it was released, so the 'survival horror' genre thing was pretty new to us both. I played a demo from a CD off a gaming magazine and he bought the real copy. You could say this game was the main reason why we've been friends for years! Before Metal Gear Solid came about, this was very tactiful; basically run out of ammo, and then you're screwed. It's good to see Leon and Ada return for RE 4 which I also like a lot, but that's all my ten games I picked! Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Mechadon on April 03, 2007, 03:29:42 pm Star Fox 64 / Lylat Wars - This is what the Rumble Pack is made for. 1. Halo 2 2. Halo: Combat Evolved 3. Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (PS2. In fact, the fighter squadron you fly in late in the game, Razgriz, is the basis for my username here.) 4. Front Mission 4 (PS2 RPG. You use giant humanoid mechs called Wanzers, and you must collect evidence to prevent the country of Zaftra from causing all-out war between the UCS-United Continental States, and the EC-European Community.) 5. Red Faction 2-My favorite PS2 First Person Shooter. You use a MASSIVE arsenal of weapons, and you can blow up just about everything around you. The game uses Geo-Mod technology, which allows you to blast through walls, or whatever else is in your way, in order to get to your objectives, find hidden weapons, or sneak up on unsuspecting enemies. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Kits'Okami (fr. Dragonfox) on July 11, 2007, 04:40:41 pm I don't think I have a top 5, but I do love these two;
1. Sonic the Hedgehog: OK, OK, I know Sonic has gotten himself a bad reputation these past few years, but look underneath the stacks of 'Black and Red Die Hard Hedgehog' and 'Apocolypse Mobius' and you'll find a few gems like 'Rush' and 'Rivals'. The characters are also quite fun! 2. Klonoa: He's not immensly popular in the mainstream (see, 'unheard-of'), but these darling little games are legions ahead of the games we get today. Creative game-play, emotional stories and lovable characters make these games my most favourite of all time. If only we could get a 'Klonoa 3'... Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Razgriz27 on July 11, 2007, 10:35:54 pm Some other faves of mine:
1. Halo 2 2. Medal Of Honor: Vanguard (PS2) 3. Medal Of Honor: Frontline (PS2) 4. Duke Nukem: Time To Kill (PS1) 5. Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes (PS1) Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: kidkaramaru on December 31, 2007, 04:48:03 am It's a hard decision:
- Ninja Gaiden ( the first, I think).(Nes) - Final Fantasy VI.(SNES) - Street of Rage II(genesis) - Fear Effect (PS1) - Disgaea, hour of Darkness(PS2) Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Razgriz27 on December 31, 2007, 10:27:06 am My newest favorite is Project Snowblind, for the PS2.
Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Helios on January 01, 2008, 02:03:58 am I might update my last one...
5) Jet Force Gemini (N64) - a true Rare Ware gem and a game I find to be very underrated. The camera angles were a little dodgy in some areas, but other than a very enjoyable shooter. Great music score too. The Tri-Rocket Launcher = =]. 4) Perfect Dark (N64) - while the single player is a little inferior to GoldenEye, the vocal work, enemy AI, story and multiplayer are excellent. It has some of the most original and enjoyable weaponry I've ever used in a game. I managed to get to Invincible3 in the multiplayer ranks, but have never heard of anyone getting Perfect1. Yet another reason why Rare were the game making masters during the SNES and N64 period. A shame that the series was ruined by Perfect Dark Zero. 3) Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (Wii) - scoff all you like. I love DBZ and this is the best DBZ game out. Nearly all the stuff from the anime is there - sound effects, fights, story, attacks, special moves, and the Funimation voices. On the Wii it's very entertaining and enjoyable as a fan to pull off your own Kamehamehas and other attacks. The only let down was the music - why they didn't use Bruce Faulconer's music is a mystery to me. 2) The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (N64) - every time a "Top X Games Of All Time" list comes out, people ask why this usually gets in the Top 10. The answer? It deserves it. SteC has already summed it up. Awesome story, items, graphics, and the music is some of Koji Kondo's best work. An absolute masterpice from Nintendo. 1) The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Xbox) - I honestly believe that since I got this game for Xmas '02, I've racked up over 1000 hours on it. A massive RPG with hundreds of quests, hundreds of NPC's to talk with, huge amounts of lore (you can spend hours reading the books in the game), a staggering amount of collectable items, sweet artifacts and a beautiful music score. Two good expansions as well. The best game I have ever played. Phew, that took a while (especially since the my computer skipped itself back a page before I was about to post this! >:[). This gets harder everytime I see this sort of thread, since there are so many games I love. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: MitchZer0 on June 02, 2008, 06:13:02 pm Just like the top five favorite cartoon shows, everybody post your top 5 favorite video games of all time. I'll start. 2. Mario Kart (all three games) There's actually six of them. =P SNES, 64, GBA, Cube, DS, and the hard-to-find arcade version which released in 2005. I've seen the arcade mario kart lots of times Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Matt on June 26, 2008, 01:12:27 pm I'm updating my list. Heck yeah.
5. Resident Evil 2 4. Half-Life 2 3. Ninja Gaiden Black 2. Team Fortress 2 (Despite me owning the inferior 360 version) 1. Metal Gear Solid 3 : Subsistance Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Alistair Erie on June 26, 2008, 03:35:03 pm 1. Chrono Trigger
2. Earthbound 3. E.V.O Search for Eden 4. Seiken Densetsu 3 5. Act Raiser All Super Nintendo games, because that is the greatest console made by man! Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Crow on June 26, 2008, 05:37:22 pm Updated List:
1) Team Fortress 2 (Hands down, I have over 150+ hours logged in of gameplay in just 2 months.) 2) Guitar Hero 3 (I can finally 5 star most of the Expert songs.) 3) Crysis (I got my beast of a machine updated and I can run this game at Max settings. Ooooh Yeah.) 4) Mass Effect (Just started this, but it's hella fun.) 5) BioShock (Very creepy/fun game, I'm about 3/4 of the way through it now.) ~Burkey Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Matt on June 30, 2008, 09:42:34 am I've heard great things about Chrono Trigger, and had been really wanting to play it. While watching the bonus disc from Final Fantasy XII, I noticed that "Final Fantasy Chronicles" had Chrono Trigger on it. Then I was like "Wait...don't I have Final Fantasy Chronicles lying in my room?" Needless to say, I'm quite happy now. I felt Chrono Trigger was a tad overrated. Not FF7 overrated but just a little bit. However, I still had a lot of fun with it. Awesome battle system and Frog is the best character ever. And what a frippin' awesome game that is, too (although it's as hard as nails :/)! Honestly, it's 'up there' with Klonoa as one of my most favourite games of all-time and it's not because it has a huge bandwagon. Okami is one of the only things I can think of that deserves its hype. It's that awesome.

Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Cloud-Boy on September 21, 2008, 02:04:05 pm My top five:
#5: Call Of Duty 4- The next best thing about being a Marine? Playing a video game where you can play as one. (Hardcore mode FTW..I MISS LIVE!) #4: Guitar Hero- Who knew. Even if I found that some songs were easier to play in a real guitar than in the game, I had fun with this one. #3: Pokemon Pearl- I always loved Pokemon, and the addition of Wi-Fi made this one awesome... even if I always got my ass handed to me by a ten-year-olds. #2: Mischief Makers- One of the best games ever! The level design, the music, the bosses, everything awesome. Extremely complicated to earn all the gold gems, but well worth the effort. Shake, Shake! #1: Rock Band 2- The boys and I just received this one yesterday from the States, and, well, WHO CARES ABOUT GUNS WHEN YOU HAVE PLASTIC INSTRUMENTS! Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Gabya on September 21, 2008, 04:34:48 pm 5. The Bard's Tale
4. Conker: Live and Reloaded :D 3. Chrono Trigger 2. Final Fantasy VI 1. GTA IV Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: blind2d on September 21, 2008, 11:51:12 pm Cloud-Boy, you are my new favorite person in the world! Shake, shake indeed!
Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Mechadon on October 21, 2008, 09:17:23 am Ironically, the Sonic Mega Collection was the last great Sonic game ever released. *high fives for a correct observation* It seems as though every new development of a 3D Sonic game is like: "Yah we know the previous ones were sh*t, but this one, we promise, is going to revive the franchise. We've learned from the mistakes of the past." ... and every time I've believed them at one point. I believed it for Sonic '06 and Unleashed. I don't even want them to work on a new game anymore. I want them to focus on making and perfecting a game play style where playing as Sonic feels like the fastest thing you've ever played. And I don't want to run on tracks anymore. Give me a wide open world to run through. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: Gabya on October 21, 2008, 02:27:21 pm that sounds great!
anyway, i gotta add the Monkey Island series to my list as well :D im sad lucasarts wont be making anymore games :'( Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: blind2d on October 21, 2008, 10:15:28 pm Oh no, really? I'm about to go beat the Elite Four with six Pokemon I trained legitimately.
Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: B.J. on October 22, 2008, 04:26:57 pm You guys sound as if you didn't enjoy the Adventures or Heroes. One could say that the only bad 3D game was 06. And there are still 2D Sonic games being made. I highly recommend buying Rush, Rush Adventure, Rivals, and Rivals 2.

okay, here goes. 1. Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. - Steampunk Fallout with magic made by the original Fallout team, I love it! 2. Age of Empires II, The conquerors expansion - The first game I was actually good at. I was like 8 or 9 when I first started playing it, and two years later I could beat everyone I knew with my Viking or Chinese armies. 3. Crimson Skies (The PC one) - The depression rips the USA apart, wars render roads and rail systems useless, Zeppelins and air planes grow dominant, you play as an air-pirate Robin Hood. It's freaking sweet! 4. The Bard's Tale - I just love the humour and story of this game, shame the PC version chugged to hell because of bad porting. 5. Star wars Knights of the old republic - Probably the one RPG I replayed the most. I think I must have finished the game with like 8 characters when we switched computers and the game couldn't play on vista :( Honorable mentions: - Mount & Blade Warband Nice to see an actual dark ages game that's not so arcady. - Chrono trigger Chrono, Frog and Ayla, that's all I need to save the world. - Mech Warrior 4 + Expansions Fear my almighty Daishi! - Monkey Island 3 First Monkey Island game I played, and has been my favourite of the series since. - SSB Melee Tremble before my red Marth! - NOX What really got me into RPGs. Deus Ex I got this game for $4 from Gamestop. I never got passed the first few minutes without getting bored of it's premise/implementation. Is the game really that good? It's a bit on the dated side now, but when it came out it was quite groundbreaking. An FPS with a complex story line in which the player's actions affected the course and the outcome (within limits, of course) was a new thing back then. Also, we didn't have controllers. We had to bang rocks together instead, which made gaming more of a challenge. Borderlands took everything Fallout 3, New Vegus and Half-Life 2 were and made them even better. Borderlands did everything perfect, sure, the story was lacking, but everything else makes up for that. 1. Borderlands Bioshock was awesome and mind-blowing when it came out, and I still feel the same way 3 years. There is nothing wrong about this game. NOTHING. 2. Bioshock Portal was a very good game, smooth controls, great atmosphere and over all great gameplay, with a good story. Then they made Portal 2, which took everything and made it better 10x, the story was better, the gameplay was better, warp that up with a fantastic co-op experince and you have yourself a winner. 3. Portal 2 I love Doug TenNapel as you could probaly tell form my thoughts on Skullmonkeys. EWJ was a great game, and was even better on the Sega CD, but EWJ2 just had more to offer: More levels, more gameplay, it was just better. 4. Earthworm Jim 2 This was one of the first PS1 games I had play, and everything was just right about this game, the music, the gameplay and the humor. I salute you Doug TenNapel, for making this masterpiece. 5. Skullmonkeys Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: runningfromgodot on November 01, 2011, 05:27:12 pm Sadly, Doug TenNapel ruined Earthworm Jim for me.

What do you mean by that?Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: runningfromgodot on November 01, 2011, 06:13:25 pm He's got a webcomic, Ratfist where he goes crazy conservative. I don't mind politics in my comics, everyone's got their opinion, and I can usually just agree to disagree. The plot for his comic though- liberals are comically evil, stifling creativity to the point where there's a cure for cancer, but because of BIG GOVERNMENT it was never found. I like satire, but I don't like LIBERALS LIBERALS LIBERALS rants.
He also went on a rant about gays and gay marriage awhile back, which he apparently took down. Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: CRBWildcat on January 06, 2012, 09:37:53 pm Been more than five years, and I've since updated my list:

Donkey Kong Country 2 Batman Arkham Asylum Batman Arkham City Megaman 7 Final Fight 3 Title: Re: Top 5 Favorite Video Games Post by: rcom88 on December 07, 2015, 05:09:42 pm Here's an update.
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest Even though this list is not numbered, I would go as far as to say that this is my favorite game of all-time. I remember getting this game for my birthday in 1997, and I was blown away by this game; the graphics were a joy to look at; the music was, and still is, great. I also enjoy collecting the DK coins. All in all, this game is a blast to play. Mega Man 7 This game will always have a special place in my heart because it was my first Mega Man game. Since then, I have gotten into the Mega Man X games, Mega Man Legends 2, Battle Network, and a few of the Mega Man Zero games. The game itself is still a ton of fun. I don't mind Mega Man being a little on the big side (at least in comparison to X), and I like the colorful graphics. I also enjoy the music (the opening stage, Freeze Man, the hatches, and the ending music being my favorites). I'm also happy that they had the debut of Bass and Treble. Turtles in Time I can't believe I forgot this game. This game was so much fun back in the day, and it's still really fun. I love the fact that you can throw the Foot Ninjas into the screen--that even comes into play during a boss fight with the Shredder. The music is also really good. Final Fight 3 This game is the best Final Fight in the series, and I was happy to play as Guy again--my favorite character. The inclusion of Dean and Lucia was a welcome addition, and I think they were fun to play as. The music is good. I also really enjoy the fact that there are branching paths, which does give this game some replay value. Batman Returns (SNES) This game is another fun Beat 'Em Up, and it stars my favorite DC superhero. The game does give a good amount of moves at your disposal--you can grab an enemy and headbutt them, I believe, and you can also throw them against the wall/window; you can also slam them down with authority. All of his moves are very satisfying to pull off. The game follows the movie as close as possible, and I like the fact that you have a level or two in the Batmobile. All of these games are nostalgic, yes, but they're also games that I can definitely go back and enjoy them as much as I did back then, and I think that's the most important thing. |
