Can anyone in the know shine some light on the British Pizza Cats?  I know theres the pic of them on Pincess Vi's site, but does any other stuff exist?  I've had a go msyelf I just wandered whether there was already stuff out there before delving any deeper.

There's just that one picture, which is from the "Secret of Pizza Cat" book.

Oh boo...looks like I'll have to get creative then.  Thanks Violet.

Yeah, in terms of reference, you're not gonna get much more than that, other than a colored version of the very same manga picture on DeviantArt, if you haven't seen it already.

I remember that pic! Those British Ninjas look so kicka$$! Especially the female one, whose civilian identity appars to be... a catholic nun!? (I find it hard to imagine a nun would wear something like THAT though)

Any thoughts on what their names could be? I think Speedy's equivalent should be named Arthur! Guido's could be Charlie. Polly's... ummm, Sister Mary?  :D

Ah, but their color schemes shouldn't match those of the Little Tokyo Pizza Cats!

Thanks D-Mac but I've already seen that one.  Actually it was the one that inspired me to have a go at them.

Hadn't thought of any names yet Puutaro-kun, but I'll defiantely consider them.  Funny I never thought 'nun' for the female character in the background, I just thought it Victorian lower working class....made sense looking at the other two and that was the same period as Edo japan.

Just playing around with some ideas.  I thought as the New York Pizza Cats had armour then the UK ones should to.  As to the colours I may keep the Red, White, Blue as its the same as the Union Jack.  All their visors can be moved down.

EDIT:

Some rough ideas;

The BPC's names are pending...still! So I'll use the SPC names for reference.  Basically 'Guido' was recruited from Special Branch (a young, swauve inspector who was completely hopeless at anything but impressing the ladies), 'Speedy' was a member of the Coldstream Guards and 'Polly' was simply a punk (with a private education from a top public school) arrested during the Mayday Riots.

I thought that the BPC would sell pizzas opposite a chip shop run by 'Wally' (sticking with the fish theme from KNT/SPC) and his sister 'Lucille', who helps him.  She's no push over and the only girl to turn 'Guido' down but he works his magic in the end.

The one under the BPC is 'Francine' an MI5 agent who takes her orders from 'Al Dente' (not the top dog of the MI5 though) to the left of her.  Only 'Speedy' and 'Guido' know her true identity in the beginning as 'Polly' is quite a little anarchist to start with, so 'Francine' was put in as an unkown so as to get her to work with the others.

The one in the bottom left is an attempt at converting 'Freeda' or 'Vi' into the Queen and 'Fred' would be Prince Philip (they have the same personality...I know I've met him!).

Fun to look at these sketches, as always. I love that funky expression 'Speedy' has. ;)
Heh heh, and it looks as though you gave 'Guido' a bit of a haircut! His hair from the manga picture gave me a sort of 1970s vibe. =]

Oh and just in case you weren't aware, you are permitted to make a new post everytime you update this thread, instead of just editing your last post weeks later. Otherwise, most people probably won't notice the updates that you make here.

Thanks D-Mac.  I thought of updating 'Guido's' style a bit so his hair has suffered (need to find a referece!).

By lack of reaction prehaps not.

I apologise for my transgressions everybody.

Just wondering, which manga did you get that from?

I'll assume the next panel in it would likely be:
Speedy: (Slowly regains conciousness, looks up at the others, then blushes) It, um... Heh heh... Wasn't me?  :O

Poor Speedy. :D

By lack of reaction prehaps not.

I apologise for my transgressions everybody.

Aww, come now. There's no need to apologise just for editing a pic to look like Speedy let one go. =P
Besides, who among us hasn't laughed at a so called "childish" joke every now and again?  :D

If you really think that was too "over the top" for SPC humor, than you should go and watch Cold And Crabby In Little Tokyo.  ;-)

Hey D-Mac I guess I missunderstood what Kyo said.

I got it from this manga:

I didn't mean it as a bad thing. I meant it as a good thing. I thought your little gag on that manga was funny.  :'(

No worries Kyo, I read it wrong!  I got another anyways...enjoy :D

NB: this and the previous joke images were taken from the Teyandee manga.

Heh heh, ya know I'm really enjoying the style of humor that you're using in these manga edits, as I find it very much in tune with mood of humor that was used in the SPC show.  :D

Keep it up!  ;)

Looks like she's wearing those radical 80's sun glasses.

Rock on, Polly.

Y'know, these manga edits got me thinking... What if we erased the Japanese text from the speech bubbles and replaced them some of our own humorous lines? We could rewrite the Teyandee manga just like how SPC was rewritten. ;)

I remember a site from years ago, where someone was doing just that.
Now if only I could dig up that site's address.  :-[

I wouldn't see anything wrong with that as long as we gave proper credit to the original artist.  :-*
I like the sounds of this. ^_^

Very cool sketches, leamur! Very interesting takes on the British Pizza Cats, I definitely think there's a lot of potential there. The British "Wally" cracks me up (in a good way), just the expression on his face and everything.

The Polly sketches are very nice, very dynamic. I often have trouble drawing characters from weird angles like that, you've done it very well here.

Over the past few years, I've sorta gotten into a rut with my artwork of trying to be too stiff and precise, and as a result end up with stuff that's either rigid and dull, or simply abandoned before it's finished becuase I can't get it to look right. I want to try and be able to do more relaxed, cartoonish stuff like I used to, and these sketches are a great source of inspiration to that end.

I noticed that most of your older drawings aren't showing up, but you offered to fix them if anyone showed interest. I'd really like to see them. :)

Ok Felineki, just for you...

This is the first piece I did many moons ago (biro on paper, coloured in Photoshop(PS)7)

The next earliest piece that i can find. Done in biro again, I paused a random ep and sketched the chars.

A later study session
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v715/leamur/SPC/sketch2.jpg)

Just some random chars i did for RP and comic ideas:

And a few things I did for fun:

Thanks a lot, Leamur. Very nice artwork. I like how you showed the cardboard texture on the pizza box in the first picture, great detail. Really captured those facial expressions well in the studies. The RP and comic designs are really cool. I particularly like the dragon and the robot with the fish in it.

Thanks Felineki.  Here's somehting new that i did just for fun after digging up those old pics:

Just in case, GIS is Shirow's Ghost in the Shell.  Poly is Motoko (the Major) while speedy was the unwitting volunteer to be Batou.
