Title: Even the classic movies aren't safe...
Post by: KyoZaber on May 13, 2005, 12:38:45 pm
Don't mind the slight change in the title... It's happening all over the board it seems... Both Classic toons and movies are not safe from Hollywood's writers block.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367594/

... I swear this movie looks scary...
Maby I'm being un-fair because of Mr.Depp... but... It just has too much of a... icky creepy filling to it... and not enough of a happy umpa-lumpa filling that the classic had.

Note: The Classic's name of course is "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" while this one is "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

The moment I saw images from the movie, I said to myself "This must be a Tim Burton film."
As his style very unique.
Burton's a very accomplished, oscar-winning director, who made classics like Batman Returns, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Edward Scissorhands. so this shouldn't really turn out too bad.
Though I do admit his his darker style creeps me out at times, and as Kyo said, part of what made the original so memorable to me when I was younger, was it being so cheerful, bright, and colorful.

While the original film is called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the original book was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

From what I've heard, this one is going to be closer to the book with it's darker tone and such.

Seriously?! If that's the truth then it should be really neat. Now if they would just make a movie of the second book.

Little known facts about this topic:

The original actor cast to play Willy Wonka in this movie was none other than Marilyn Manson.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was never intended to be a children's book.

At the end of the Factory tour when they lick the wallpaper, Wonka says "The Snozberries taste like Snozberries". And since the book was meant to be for adults, the term "Snozberries" is actually a slang word for..... *grin* balls.  :O

Tasty.
