AsterCrow, You're right. The word should be revived. I feel it's a defining word for the early 1990's generation.

Rad doesn't need to be revived, it never left my vocabulary.  Rad(ical) along with "exellent", "primo", "mondo", "negatoro", "most exellent", "gnarly",and "bodacious" are all still used in coversations between people around my age (at least in Eastern Pennsylvania).
The usage is sometimes off though and using these words correctly is kind of a lost art.

-Here’s a real one. Some stores have those metal detector things at the entrances. You hear them going off all the time, because the people working the counters forget to demagnetize whatever was purchased. I often like to take a look around these stores.
