The name might simply exist to draw attention away from the fact that X-Box 360 and PS3 are overshadowing the marketplace. It's also no doubt to create a buzz around the console for the upcoming E3 show. If the name does stick ,however, it will be the weirdest name for a gaming platform since the wonderswan.

"...and in other news, the Nintendo 'Wii' was released." People would be like, "wii" and then make a bunch of sexual references and make fools of themselves, all in the name of promoting Nintendo. (I couldn't help myself. It's too easy. :D) This name seems very much in tune with Nintendo Japan's recent "We are trying very hard to be like Apple" marketing and design strategy. I do like the name, but not for console. To me it just sounds awkward when used in speech. I really would've preferred to see "Wii" as the name of Nintendo's Wi-Fi service, because the spelling is so close. Title: Re: Wii now bring you... Ya' can't judge a book by it's cover, but only by it's history and that's why I'm getting it for Christmas.
