Anybody that was at Anime Central likely saw this...but in case you weren't...

Boo-yeah!  XD  I hope to continue working on this, actually.  It still does have a lot of room for improvement.  Last year at Acen, actually, someone dressed as Polly!  I actually was hoping to see her again this year, but...ehh....  Anyhow, that's it!  ;)

LOL! :D Oh my god. That's awesome. That's a very nice costume. Maybe I should go to one of these conventions. I've never been to a convention of anykind. The matter of fact, I've never been to any at all. Maybe I should someday.

Yes, a lot of room for improvement, but I have to still give you a lot of credit because SPC characters are increadibly hard to do as cosplay!  Their whole body shape just doesn't translate to human proportions.  I do have an idea to help on one aspect though:  Find an old white motorcycle helmet to transform into Speedy's helmet. I think they are made from fiberglass or plastic, so you could saw it into the right shape, then add on ears and a visor.

Oh yeah, I agree here. I don't mind writing or RPGin' about characters, but Cos-playing, I think, is just a step to far. Hey, if you wanna do it, fine, but I don't think you'd ever catch me at one of those things, that kinda weirds me out...  ::)

Cosplay isn't really for me, but that's definitely a cool looking costume. More repping SPC at cons is alllllways good.  8)

Just wondering, about how much time/money/effort did it take to have that put together?

Actually less than you might expect  x_x  ...just...lots of little details.  It took about a whole day-and-a-half with a combined effort of a few people to assemble it together.  The shoulder pads are football equipment that was on sale at Sportmart, then we just spraypainted them white, my friend's mom helped me learn how to sew (she made the pants portion...apparently they were the same model after Ranma's), and the helmet was the worst portion.  -_-  Wires wrapped around my head, lots and lots of foam and tape, then the very arduous task of getting the fabric on there to cover it....

Blahhh, I'll leave out details...but if anyone gets the hankering to create a costume for themselves sometime for an anime con, message me and I'll be glad to help you out  :)  Yeahhh, I know "getting into costume" for a convention sounds dumb...but really, it's fun!  Where else would you get an excuse to dress up like a mook in public and get praised for it, plus lots of pictures taken of you, 'uh?  =)

...and the shoes are the only portion I wasn't able to get done, hush.  But Speedy could potentially wear them!  Come on...they might have mecha feet, but that doesn't mean they couldn't get some nice athletic shoes to provide some comfort to their soles!  ...though...actually I do hope to get some of those shoes with those wheels that come out of the bottom, so I could glide around, then maybe put a cover on top so they'd look right...yup.  </rambling>

Now we just need a Polly Ester Cosplayer, and a Guido Cosplayer...

Pizza Cats cosplay is VERY rare, indeed... that's why I've been making a Princess Vi costume. I'm about half-done.. just minor details here and there to do, but otherwise, I should have it done in time for the next con I attend. :D

I applaud their effort, but that isn't going to make the nightmares go away.  So remember fellow Pizza Cats, next time, invest in some fun fur.

Don't make fun of them unless you can do better.  Those are some dedicated fans.  Making SPC costumes is very difficult because the proportions are all wrong to fit on a real-life human.

But on the second picture, I did notice Guido has his cell phone ready in case any girls call him.

I'm gonna have some bad dreams tonight folks. Let me tell ya.

Also paper maches easy to use, though for ultra spot on costumes I think custom made fiberglass armour and heads would do nicely esppecially.
Its been done with other cosplay costumes, the best Ive seen was a Gundam costume made of customized automotive foam core and steel panels and fiber glass segments from custom made moulds.

To bad for us we dont have the inlisted help of someone who has the qualifications of a high level Hollywood costume and set maker.

....And also remeber kiddies making fiberglass is toxic so make sure to wear those masks.

I'm not trying to make fun of them.  I think its awesome that six people got together and payed homage to SPC, but at the same time the costumes just have a strange look about them.  Imagine being  someone who didn't know anything about the Pizza Cats and seeing those crazy characters in paper mache outfits for the first time.  Its just weird to see the Pizza Cats repesented as a physical existance when they were made to be in a fantasy setting.

here in the uk we don't have 'cons' i hope i'm right in meaning con = convention. but i would probably make a suit if they did lol.

but i have no idea what character i'd be in the slightest.

i've been thinking about how you'd go about it.

when i've done some reasearch i'll let you know.

A good costume takes a lot of time.  What character?  You need to decide that yourself, but I can't think of any that would be easy to do.

It's sad and It's pitifully true

There's probably been a lot of people who wanted to make SPC/KNT costumes, especially back when the show was in it's prime in the 90s, but the way the characters are designed makes it extremely difficult to make a good costume.  I can't think of too many anime characters that would be more difficult.

There are these girls in the pic below.  Although they made cute Yattarou(?) and Omitsu outfits, they don't actually look much like the characters.  A good effort though.

I planned to make a Speedy costume by more of 4 years but I couldn't spare the time (And money for the materials)... May be I'll do it someday but I'm now 27... Since I still freaking Otakus around me this will encourage me... TEYANDEE!!

Ladies and gentlemen, that time of the year has come and gone, and with the passing of another Anime Central, I'd like to present to the Edoropolis members for their approval...Samurai Pizza Cats cosplay!  Headed and mostly constructed by yours truely!  =)

...it's just too bad the helmet mostly blocks my face in this one and only group picture  ^_^;;

Also!  A certain cell phone captured a glimpse of Guido Anchovie attempting to work his magic on a group of j-rockers.  They were happy to see the Pizza Cat...but unfortunately, their non-English language prevented any further of communication.

You guys are hard core fans.

I still think you can do better with the helmets by modifing some old motorcycle helmets, but it's still better than I could ever do.

Those are really cute! I suppose that's one way to go about SPC cosplay, since, as you mentioned, it's hard to make an actual person look like the characters due to proportions and such. I think some horns might have made a nice touch for the Omitsu one, to go with the ears.

A lot went on at Anime Central.  It's the American Midwest's biggest anime convention...!  Un--fortunately, being it was pretty slow to move around in that costume, I didn't get to do too much  :O  However, that didn't stop me from having fun!  They had a ton of guests there, and the voice actor Greg Ayres flipped out when he saw the costume!  "OMG!! Samurai Pizza Cats!! [unintelligible spasms go here]!!!"

A lot of people got the reference, thanks to carrying around the pizza box that had the lopsided-ears cat head "Pizza Cats" logo on there.  I got major props from people all around for the costume, and at times, I literally couldn't take five steps without people coming up and asking for a picture!  Sure, most people just thought it was a cool mecha, but for the few people who actually said "Supreme Catatonic," I gave them mega thanks and sometimes a hug (...which is awkward in that thing, lemme tell you!).

Later on, I'll scan in a picture an artist drew of me, and put it on here.  Thanks for all your kind words!!  =)

Forgive me for bumping this thread once again, but recently I attended Anime North (got to see D-Mac too! :D).  I got to meet Wendee Lee while I was there, and she was ecstatic to see me, telling me she loved Pizza Cats, and even had a part in it!  (though she couldn't remember what :O)

But that's not why I'm posting.  One of the artists flagged Catatonic me down, and showed me his arm (that's my pizza box everyone was signing behind it).  Behold...a freakin' die-hard, hardcore fan!

Actually...I should mention now that I send a LOT of people here!  Of course, it's up to them whether they ever check it out, plus whether they should decide to socialize or not.  When people flag me down to talk about the Samurai Pizza Cats and how they wish they were still on tv or something, I try in some fashion to write down for them the address here.  But to answer your accusation, I did, in fact, send him this way!  He also gave me a flyer advertising his website, whose address...is www.jack-and-pookie.com (http://www.jack-and-pookie.com)!

Also, yes, it is HORRENDOUS moving around in that costume!  XD  Hot too!  I sometimes have to stop near tablecloths and use their corners to wipe the lenses off.  And the Supreme Catatonic is capable of defeating any robot, any plot of the Big Cheese, the Rude Noise, and even an entire freakin' comet capable of destroying at least Little Tokyo.  But what is its true mortal enemy...?  STAIRS.  When I saw there was someone filiming me, a part of me wanted to yell that they were a sadistic jerk for filming my distress (...though that likely would have been terribly muffled), but instead I took it in the good attitude that comes along with attending an anime con.  I'm glad I did too!  I'm on the internet!!  Next do I get my own show?!  :D  (sorry I didn't get to meet ya, Mechadon :()

My friend and I have decided to go along with finally putting together SPC costumes for a local convention later on this year. I'll be going as  Princess Vi, and she as Francine.  We're going as more 'casual' versions, you could say, as I don't think I've ever seen cosplay of Vi and Francine that didn't have kigurumi heads/masks for faces.  I'm excited to start the project, and we're going to be buying the fabric for our patterns really soon.

Pardon me for the necro-bump, but awhile back I mentioned that I was working on Princess Vi and Francine costumes.  The projects got delayed for awhile, but now they've been revived and are for sure going to be worn for my local con coming up in August. I'm having an interesting time making the kimono (had to make some of my own alterations to the pattern.. and this is my first time messing around with a garment that requires lining, so it's been a lot of trial and error.. mostly error, haha) but I'm making progress. I think I'm done it, aside from the little details like the blue and yellow designs. Got the obi done too.

My next plan of action will be how to make the bow and how to attach it to my costume securely:
