Title: SPC at DeviantArt

(This was originally posted by SonikkuKitten (http://www.edoropolis.org/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=25) and not me, as she's the club's owner. But sadly, her post mysteriously disappeared somehow.  :'( )

I run the SPC club at DA and if you're a member of DA and still had no idea that this club existed this is my official announcement to you.  =]

Come and join! Just drop a note at the club and I'll see to it that you're added into the members list.

The club ID image is drawn and colored by me, myself and I. The white cat next to Polly is mai own SPC fursona.

This thread is stickied so that anyone who wants to show off their own DA page may do so here.

My own is:  http://d-mac-double.deviantart.com
Don't expect too much from me, as drawing isn't really my thing. :O
However I am planning to do a few SPC/Video Game crossovers from time to time.

Here's my DA page. http://bubba-trex.deviantart.com/

Doesn't contain the slightest bit of SPC, (there's another cartoon I prefer doing fan art for) but... Oh well.
I have drawn lots of fan arts, especially of Speedy and Guido, but I'm too lazy to scan and color them.

My sis, http://sting-chameleon.deviantart.com/, made a pic of Polly that she scanned and colored. I don't think she has uploaded it to DA though, which is a shame since it looked really nice. *Goes of to nag at her*

Oh man, my page doesn't even have anything SPC on it because I can't draw mech stuff that well... Oh well, you can have a look if you like.

Being the new kid on the block (I hated that group), I was gonna post a new thread to show off my stuff, but since I use DA solely, I might as well plug away.

http://atariraccoon.deviantart.com/

But if you're into SPC, then you'll want to dive straight into these pics:

http://www.deviantart.com/view/7096150/   Princess Vi - you've probably seen it if you've ever been to Princess Vi's Spiffy Diffy web page.

http://www.deviantart.com/view/8815049/   Some pixel art involving a Vi mouse icon I found once, was a spur of the moment thing.

http://www.deviantart.com/view/7303596/   Atari - me, my name, I call myself, my own SPC char.

I used to do tons of SPC fanart back in the day, but recently I haven't done so much. I'm going to be working on some new ones soon.

In the meantime, my dA account is here:

http://kazzie.deviantart.com

I have one picture of Princess Vi up there (I don't much like it anymore, but ah well :D) and maybe some others, I can't remember.

Well, from what I've seen Pizzacats DA page really takes the cake in this thread. The pics are really wonderful and I can see You have lots of skill. I especially liked your featured deviation. What was it called again? Ah, yes. Sabotage.
I have my own DA page, but there are none (zero, null, zip, nada.) deviations on it whatsoever, so it would be a drag to post a link here.

Everyone has their own style in drawing, from PS'ed to hand coloured figures to the abstract to the SPC.

I don't think anyone here is "better" than anyone else, we all just have our own style.

Bahh believe me Im not the even near best around, J-Fujitas old SPC work especially the stuff he did when he worked on KNT doujins around 10 yrs ago are just brilliant, but the others to look out for are Shepard, Atari Racoon and Leamur are already very promising, and thanks for the compliment.

Yo everyone! I'm new here, thought I'd kick things off by linking y'all to my devart site. There is only one spc fanart there at the moment, but given how addicted I am becoming to this show, there is likely to be more in the near future XD
I hope people like my take on the cats...I don't do chibi XD My avi gives an idea of what they look like in the pic XD

I'll be sure to see them as soon as they're out and I know they'll be awesome. And don't worry that the SPCs won't be in traditional chibi like most people do it in. People will like it in no matter what type of artwork they're in. There lots of people who did fanart on SPCs in many different versions and they're all very good. So, don't worry about it. I'm sure people here will like on what they see at what you did to them. And they're very good IMO.

Here's one pic I did...while it's not technically an spc pic, I did it for a friend of Sam the Methid Man at his request, and as a token of niceness he's going to give me scans of the KNT manga, so this pic's history is soaked in spc..ness XD I  think it came out pretty cool ^^

There's a Flaw with the Saw of McGraw?

Aw!  :-[

***

Actually, the question you should be asking is: If the saw is wired through the arm, why does it have a pull-chord on it?

And what's that silly insignia doing on the saw?

***

...And ,no. It's not the robot we've seen in the Polly's Flute episode. That robot its dead. McGraw is a new kind of terror.

Good interpretation of the character. It brings out some elegance for the little brat. The pose is awkward; It's hard to tell if she is leaning on something or lying down. It would help to see the invisible surfaces she is interacting with. Some perspective would be nice too. She could be lying on a bed or leaning on a table. She could have both feet planted on the ground. In that case, I'd love to see someone bend that far to the side without falling over.

Title: Re: SPC at DeviantArt
Post by: felineki on March 10, 2008, 11:46:25 pm
It looks like she's lying down to me. Very good color work there, smooth gradiation. Something about the face placement/head shape seems a little off to me, but it's a nice piece overall.

Hmm, it looks like there's a contest (http://spcpizzaparlor.deviantart.com/journal/16726853/) going on at the deviantART SPC club. Gah, if only school wasn't taking up so much of my time...

Okay, I got a special offering for all of you to enjoy. I completed this custom CD album cover last night. It's a new title from the Pointless Sisters called "Get to the Point". I hope to submit it for the DA CD art contest. Do you think I have any chance of winning?

Too bad there's no songs to go with it.

Be careful what you wish for.  ;-)

I might just try to put on my best singing voice and do a few myself.

Title: Re: SPC at DeviantArt
Post by: felineki on April 10, 2008, 05:22:26 pm
It's cute. The wordplay is interesting, although the way it reads from bottom to top is a little awkward. However, if the shape were to be flipped upside down, it probably wouldn't get the point across as well, even if it would make the text easier to read. The Polly and Lucille faces are simple, but nothing wrong with them as far as I can see. Does it have a chance of winning? I really can't say, I don't know how the entries will be judged. But, IMO, if you want to go for the win, it could use a little sprucing up. More color, for one thing. Some kind of pattern to fill in the blank white space? Colored outlines for the faces instead of black? A more interesting font might help, too. You have a good start, though!

Also, as a general tip, you might want to either save as some format other than JPEG, or if you want to use JPEG, use a higher quality setting. In pictures with large areas of solid color, JPEG artifacts can become very visible and potentially distracting (look at the blurry wavy stuff within the green triangle that seems to surround the white text for an example here).

I'm hoping to do something for this contest, too. Although I've been so busy lately that all I have so far is a tiny little pose thumbnail scribbled out on the back of a school paper.

Thanks for the feedback. You've found everything that I thought was potentially wrong with it. But unfortunately I was using a one-month trial of Flash to make it. That trial expired last night. I was racing against the clock to get this thing finished in a submittable form. I have no way of going back and making those changes, unless I download it again. So, what you see is what you get for now.  :P

Dude. I'm sorry I got defensive on you. My question about the contest was meant to be half-hearted. That's why it was so un-nerving to read you listing off most of the flaws I'm already aware of. I guess I should have worded the question differently, because I wasn't asking for such harsh criticism.

You are at no fault. You stepped up and described in brutal honesty why you think my submission might not hold itself up in the contest. Everything you said is correct. Your suggestions would be very helpful. I would change the fonts, remove the black outlines, find a colour for the background (I'm thinking a light blue would work), and save it in a better format. I would do all that based on your suggestions, so I can submit something we can all be proud of.

But I'm not going to because, quite simply, I've decided to stick with what I have. Even though you've convinced me that it might not win, I'm still going to submit it. The purpose of these contests is to motivate people to make fan made content. That's exactly what I've done, and what I'm satisfied with. I'm going to submit this CD cover to prove to those holding the contest that they're efforts aren't in vain.

Hmm? Nothing to apologize about, I didn't think you were getting too defensive. I'm sorry if I picked your submission apart too much, but I couldn't tell that the "Do you think I have any chance of winning?" line wasn't really serious. I agree that the most important part of these contest is just to have fun creating, but the way I read your post made it sound like you were asking for serious suggestions. Sorry if that wasn't really what you had in mind. As I said earlier, I do think you've got the framework of a good design here.

Meh, it's hard to find the right words to describe such a group.

I guess the only thing I can say about it is they can spend their time how they want.
It's too bad all that time & energy is going to something so bad, sad, and negative.
That goes for all those hate groups on DA & other art places as well.

I suppose mutual respect for the spirit and the soul of characters is a lost art in itself.
Alas though... this be another rant for another topic at another time.

Thank you for keeping things in line, Kyo.

Everyone else: After checking out the site myself, it seems like this club was created by a group of people that are having a fued with someone else who might have role-played Polly. I don't even think they know or care much about the show or Polly, they're just trying to get back at that person. My suggestion is that we ignore this group entirely, they're not worth our time.

I just pulled off my first piece of SPC Artwork!

I had a strange idea: "What if Polly were to explode like the Big Cheese?" You could see that she'd lose most of her clothes, while staying as censored as possible. And since Samurai Pizza Cats is a Tatsunoko series, they had to reference earlier Tatsunoko Anime. This is a reference to Yatterman, and Tensai Doronbo, in which Doronjo would lose a majority of her clothes after being in the midst of an explosion. This kind of stuff is normal in the Yatterman series.

Yeah, I saw that one. I thought it was really cool and I especially liked the shading. For some reason, I could never get a handle on blatant 2 level shading and just jumped to soft brushes. Preference maybe? I dunno, but this piece is definitely...cute.  :-*

Bad Bird's head looks too big for his body, but I don't really care that much because this picture rocks. 8) I always saw these two as rivals after the show, but if they teamed up (maybe sometime before the finale) it would be great.

Id love to post some of the stuff I did over tthe last couple o years but my external that held all my artwork ,completed and otherwise, melted. I was so close to finishing that omitsu/pururun pic just few more hours of line work and it was done ... oh well. So I started it over from scratch. They should have released it on a KNT CD as a separate track.

Well, This isn't from Deviantart, it's something I found on Danbooru.
but since it's kinda the same thing... sorta... you know... I don't want to start a new thread for this one pic.

Anyway, this guy called Colonel Aki does a web-comic I'm following, but sometimes he just draws random stuff.
this time he drew a few older anime and manga characters.*hint*lower left*/hint*

Why did spc got the pony fever!?

That picture was made in early 2009, whereas MLP:FiM was made in late 2010. This means that SPC hasn't seen the MLP "fever" going around right now. This picture was made by a fan of the older generations.

And now for something completely different. It's a weird-yet-interesting "ukiyo-e" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukiyo-e) style fanart of Sukashii (http://pinteezy.deviantart.com/art/Ukiyo-e-Sukashii-323502890). And there's some of Pururun (http://pinteezy.deviantart.com/art/Ukiyo-e-Pururun-323501748) and Yattarou (http://pinteezy.deviantart.com/art/Ukiyo-e-Yattaro-323503678) too. Give this person some love, there aren't that many comments.

I actually ended up featuring the Sukashii one in my journal on dA. Awesome work there, I love seeing alternative styles, especially traditional japanese work.

So here's one I stumbled upon by accident. It's from 2011 and maybe you guys have seen it before, but I figure it's pretty awesome and posting twice certainly couldn't hurt. :)

Awww!!! About "SPC at DeviantArt", look at this!  :D
http://petunia43.deviantart.com/gallery/26773821
The artist is my sister, and she's now working about a KNT opening.
I'll post it here when she'll finish.
P.S. This is my favourite: http://petunia43.deviantart.com/art/Melancholic-Polly-Ester-160133836
It was a sad period for both IRL, and I remember my sister told something like "Now, I would have a friend cool and strong and Pururun by my side" ...and she made this! ^^
I always thought that this is so sweet!  :-* :-* :-*
