Edoropolis Emporium

I thought of a new game.  Unlike the well oraganized "They said What?" game, this one won't have a schedule.  I have enough schedules in my life already.  Instead, it will be played when I feel like playing it, in true spoiled princess fashion.

Here's how it works.  I will up load a picture that is some how related to SPC/KNT.  It might be an object from the show, part of a toy.  These will be smaller pictures.  You have to guess what the item is or where it's from (a certian scene  in a certain episode, or a part of this object.  Understand?  maybe not, but well play anyways.  Oh, I may give hits if it seems to be too hard.  The prize is...nothing, except the statisfaction that you solved the mystery!

I want to say it's something from Polly while she was doing a Pointless Sisters routeen, however I'm not sure about that one.
Next I want to say it's something off of Princess Vi due to the hint of red at the upper right portion of the picture, however I'm sure that's not the case either.

The background looks like something that is from either a LT shop, or a underground base.

It looks more like a chunk off one of the big cheeses robots. I'll guess... the one from the ep where Vi makes her own movie. (sorry, forgot title)

As seen, it's a part of the evil mecha/stage from "No Talent Guido". This one sure was hard. Without all the hints I would NEVER have figured it out.

Anyway, that's not why I'm here.  I'm here because it's time for the new Mystery Object!  Now, I'm sure some of you will figure out what the object is pretty quickly, but you also have to say what episode it is from.

that's a PC Engine, in the episode "Gender Bender Butterflies"...or, perhaps a mimicry of a PC Engine, anyway.

Nah, you're probably right. I took a screencap and looked closer and it does seem closer to a PC Engine.

PC Engine came out in 1987 and was 8-bit CPU, 16-bit graphics. It would have been popular enough in 1990 to be used in KNT. Super Famicom wasn't out until November 1991. Sega Mega Drive wasn't even out at the time. It was Famicom vs. PC Engine.

The correct answer is "Video Game Thingie", but I'll accept PC Engine since it does look like one after comparing pictures.  And the Episode is Gender Bender Butterflies.

It is likely a PC Engine or Famicom, but there were other game systems in Japan at the time.  The Sega Master System, Sega Mk-III in Japan, was around as early as 1986...

i doubt it's a Mark III, considering that was more rectangular, compared to a PC Engine. i think it looks more like a PC Engine than a Famicom, since it seems to have a CD-ROM cover, rather than a cartridge reader on the top.

Yeah, it isn't a MK-III, I was just giving an example that Famicom and PC-Engine weren't the only systems around in 1990/91.  Also, Megadrive came out in 1989, didn't it?

Rgearding the discussion of video game consoles of the era, in one episode (I forget which), you can see what's clearly a Famicom controller (or at least something based on one).

Whatever it is, it's spherical.  It looks like a pauldron off of one of crows/monsters, or a part of a hairdoo.

Looks like a propeller at first glance. But after careful inspection, I see that it's a ninja crow. And he's getting hit by one of Omitsu's missiles. It's from the back covers of that KNT Anniversary Memorial doujinshi set.

The texture makes me think it was scanned from a printed material of some sort. In the upper-right is what appears to be the hand of Bad Bird or a Ninja Crow. But those observations aside, I'm drawing a blank.

But don't worry, that's why the next step is that I start giving clues.  And the first clue I'll give you is to confirm what Felineki suspects; this is from a comic, not from the anime, and Bad Bird is using it.

If you look closely, it actually is Polly (triangular helmet lens, hearts on forearms), just colored with Guido's colors by mistake.

You're on the right track, it is from an American comic.  But let's see if any of you have as many SPC files on your computer as I do and can find it (or the actual books, which I also have).

I guess no one else has this, what kind of SPC fans are you?  Saban Powerhouse comics were one of the very few SPC items the average fan with no Japanese sources could easily get (you can probably still find them on eBay).  Unfortunately, there were only 2 issues with SPC.  Even more unfortunately, one of them is an awful comic done by someone who probably never watched SPC before someone told him to draw it (The other comic is actually pretty good). 

Anyway, the mystery object is from the bad comic, it's Bad Bird's very simple one-button remote control for his giant robot.  I'll upload both comics for you later, for now I'll just show you this.
