Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Re: OFFICIAL SPC and KNT Boxsets to be released by Discotek Media!
|

I got 'em! I got my SPC box set. With other favorites like the Dragon Ball Z original dub and My Little Pony Season 2 out before this, I had to pace myself. But the long wait paid off and I ordered it for a total of $24.81. The packaging is definitely on the cheap side--clear plastic, no outer sleeve, and the discs all look alike. No extras either. But for all 52 episodes of the first cartoon that ever really inspired me as a kid, who cares? They're finally here! Now I'm on Episode 5. Looks like you may have bought a bootleg. From Discotek's FB page: "Be on the lookout for fake Samurai Pizza Cats sets being sold as original Discotek/Eastern Star releases. Someone has started making factory copies of region 1 anime titles using the same cover art as the original and they are using the same UPC to list them. The copied set is in a clear case with no security sticker on the top. Our original sets are in a black 8 disc case with a security sticker on top."

Samurai Pizza Cats / Teyandee! Discussion / Kappei Yamaguchi Convention Appearance
|
on: June 21, 2013, 07:04:03 pm
|
Not too sure if there are any other forum members in the area, but it was just announced that Kappei Yamaguchi, voice of Yattarou, will be a guest of honour at Vancouver's Anime Revolution convention in August! I'm planning on seeing him and having him autograph my KNT DVDs and possibly the artbook, and if anyone else here is planning on attending I encourage you to do the same! I know he's made other recent convention appearances in the US, but I think this may be his first Canadian one. Along with KNT he's got a pretty impressive resume, including roles such as Ranma from Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, L from Death Note, Usopp from One Piece and more.

Just got my payment request from HobbySearch. Here's hoping it arrives next week, I'm so excited!
I'll post a review of the book if nobody beats me to the punch. Just seeing the two preview pictures via Felineki's post is making me really anxious to get the book in my hands!

Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Re: We need more cosplay....

Pardon me for the necro-bump, but awhile back I mentioned that I was working on Princess Vi and Francine costumes. The projects got delayed for awhile, but now they've been revived and are for sure going to be worn for my local con coming up in August. I'm having an interesting time making the kimono (had to make some of my own alterations to the pattern.. and this is my first time messing around with a garment that requires lining, so it's been a lot of trial and error.. mostly error, haha) but I'm making progress. I think I'm done it, aside from the little details like the blue and yellow designs. Got the obi done too. My next plan of action will be how to make the bow and how to attach it to my costume securely: http://www.shakethesunrise.net/viback.jpgI actually have some ideas.. but will they work? Only time will tell! I will be starting on Francine soon, whenever my friend can come over for the fitting and such (since the costume is for her.) Anyways, enough about me: anyone else planning on making a SPC-related costume in the near future? I found this costume posted recently to Cosplay.com - so cute! http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2135062/

My friend and I have decided to go along with finally putting together SPC costumes for a local convention later on this year. I'll be going as Princess Vi, and she as Francine. We're going as more 'casual' versions, you could say, as I don't think I've ever seen cosplay of Vi and Francine that didn't have kigurumi heads/masks for faces. I'm excited to start the project, and we're going to be buying the fabric for our patterns really soon.

Top 5, top 5... oye, I've played and loved so many games that it's hard for me to pick just five. But I can give it a shot.
1) Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars 2) Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest 3) Chrono Cross 4) Earthbound 5) Katamari Damacy

IGN does full-screen ads sometimes, where you have to click a link somewhere on the ad to proceed to the linked article. Kinda annoying.
Franklin Baaaaadge. I wonder if Mother 3 is taking the original storyline for the canned Earthbound 64, or something entirely new? Or something that's a mixture of old material and brand-new? I know Flint is the main character in this one... but I do wonder what the story is going to be like.

I am SO excited for this game. I've been salivating over the newest batch of screenshots. I can say I am more than happy that they're keeping the original style from the first game, as well. If they don't bring this one over for an English release, then I can predict that fans at Starmen.net will translate it, at least.
Oh, what I would do for that Franklin Badge. I hope they'll re-release some Mr. Saturn plushies along the way.

Earthbound was unique in a sense that there isn't many RPGs like it out there. It's hilarious, and it's not so much 'fantasy' like other RPGs - it's set on Earth, and instead of swords and wands, you use weapons such as toy guns, baseball bats, and frying pans, and the items are like regular food (Eat a hamburger to recover HP; eat a Poptart-like object tor recover PP). And the enemies are funny and bizarre (Take the 'New Age Retro Hippie' and 'Unassuming Local Guy' for example.) I mean, come on, you even fight ABSTRACT PAINTINGS and evil road signs. I don't know, but the total bizarreness of this game made me love it so much. I've been a huge fan of Earthbound for a long time, and was really looking forward to Earthbound 64 when that was announced. A shame it got cancelled, but then THIS news pops up.. needless to say, I am curious and excited.

I swear Polly's voice actress was on another kids show they used to air a long time ago called "Kitty Cats". She played the calico kitty named Tangle.
...unless, my memory totally betrayed me and I am completely wrong. But it sounded like her!
