Not even sure, really.  Sometime last decade.  Tongue

First time back here in a number of years.  Glad the place still lives.  ^^

I'm not sure I understand what you are talking about, but what I am talkign about is like an effort at making something both the SPC game movement and the less develioped SPC FOrum RP movement could enjoy.  Unfortunately, I don't have the time to learn MUSH coding.
4  Samurai Pizza Cats / Game Projects / Wow...all these games projects make me wonder if Episode Zero is needed. on: January 21, 2006, 05:29:39 pm
When I first joined the SPC community, I remember a conversation I had with Princess Vi about what was needed in the SPC community.  I wanted to make a normal webpage, but she said that it might be better if I did something novel that no one else had done...so I started toying with the Episode Zero idea.

Now I see so many game projects with better concepts and better ideas (and less obvious and gratuitous insertations of fan-characters in starring roles  Tongue) and realize that Episode Zero, primitive and incomplete/imperfect as it is, has at least sparked enough interest in the SPC community (likely in unison with the long needed KNT translation concept) to spark all these game ideas.  Keeping in mind the intent behind the idea of the game, to introduce a new way of supporting SPC, its purpose has been partially fulfilled.

Had my game been written better or been made in a less restrictive environment, I may have continued it.  I may still do so eventually, I can't say, but ,while it wouldn't exactly be a waste of time, there are now much better endeavors three years later(wow...has it been that long already?).  I find myself where I was three years ago, looking at the community and seeing what I can contribute that hasn't been done before, or isn't currently being attempted.

The planned game series for the RPG Maker-based system, slowly became not a fan work of SPC, but a planned introduction of massive fan characters stealing the spotight from the real stars.  Even I, the person who first had the idea, became guilty of this by placing my fan character as the main star of the prototype game, which I now realize was simply the wrong thing to do, no matter how fun the game may be.  Still, it sparked interest, so I can at least say some good came out of it.

If someone wants to make their own version of the game, edit it, use the sprites, whatever, the are free to do so.  I won't say absolutely that the game won't be completed, but I'm sure you guys have stopped worrying by now.  Wink

If you need a hint as to what I am looking at right now, I'm looking beyond the concept of actual video games, in the realm of the efforts, which have only thus far been somewhat restricted in medium, in SPC roleplaying.  I've been briefly introduced to the idea of a MUSH, which is...quite interesting, and less restrictive than the forum-based RP.  I can't guarantee anything there either, but...I'm starting to get some ideas.  Unfortunately, with college, learning MUSH code might be out of the question...I may look for help on this one.

I like darn Small Linux, and Fedora.

darn Small Linux is nice for computers that are old, or newer computers which need fast requirements and have a decent amount of RAM.  It can store the OS in RAM, since it's only 50MB with all applications.  This includes Mozzilla, media and office programs, full GUI,  etc.

Edit: "darn" isn't the actual name.  It's the other word.

That has to be it.  See?  There were other systems it could be.

Yeah, it isn't a MK-III, I was just giving an example that Famicom and PC-Engine weren't the only systems around in 1990/91.  Also, Megadrive came out in 1989, didn't it?

Also, can any of us post a pic for this, or just Vi?

It is likely a PC Engine or Famicom, but there were other game systems in Japan at the time.  The Sega Master System, Sega Mk-III in Japan, was around as early as 1986...

That sounds like a good idea.  ^^  Are you thinking of a normal looking-down view RPG, or a platformer with RPG elements?

Kuribo's Shoe from SMB3 would be very nice to see. ^^  It was only in 1 level, but it is one of my favorites.
(It is the Green shoe with the Wind up key in World 5.  The Princess refers to it by name in a letter.)

I'd like to see Mallow or Geno from Super Mario RPG, as well.

I am uncertain of the PS3 still.  Those who have watched that video and have keen eyes will notice that in the lower part of the screen, there is sometimes a "line" and below that line, the image is drawn from a slightly different viewpoint.  Maybe a few inches to a foot over.  This seems to occur when there is excessive movement on the screen, such as many characters, race cars, and ocean waves.  It occurs during several game previews in "real time" graphics from different developers.

It makes me think that the PS3 still has a major glitch in drawing the frames with excessive movement.  It can't be the camera as it never happens when the camera isn't focused on the PS3 demos.

Watch the video again and tell me what you think.

*Kensuke was on the roof...  Since it was study hall for him, and he was headed to the cafeteria, he was close enough to the roof when the monkeys attacked to get out of their way...*

"...This place is SERIOUSLY messed up..."

Name:  Toshiro Yuki

Age: 16  (We'll make him a year younger than in Episode 0, but otherwise the same story...)

Toshiro is a male feline with a secret...after a strange green ship crashed on the outskirts of Little Tokyo, he appeared.  His emerald green hair and eyes make him stand out enough, but his knowledge in the sciences and technology make him stand out even more.  However, he is not employed, and he, other than his quirks that is, seems to be a normal high school student.

He carries a crystal around with him, which has a green tint, but otherwise seems useless and dead...

He is very shy, but if truly befriended, you have made a bond not easily broken.

Kensuke can use a sword fairly well, but he does not often carry one on his person.

Could you use my RM2K sprites and hack them?  The ones on the site may have been converted to low quality, but the game downloads are still up.  Any sprites and code in that game is open season, people. ^^
