I FINALLY got my copy of Earthbound back, and I've played up to when you get to controll Jeff in Winters. I forgot how much I love this game. Unfortunately, I bought this used from Funco Land (that was a LONG time ago), so no scratch and sniff cards for me. Oh, and has anyone heard the official soundtrack? I got it from a friend of mine, and it rocks. It's a couple of select tracks from the game done with real instruments (not MIDI ).

FF VII > All
No matter what.
Burkey
And...that's all a matter of opinion. I agree, Final Fantasy VII is fantastic, but I think it just gets so much attention because it's really the game that made RPGs huge in the US. But it's still a fantastic game. I just love a lot games a lot more.

Threaux, is your little quote under your avatar a reference to the band DragonForce? Because I them. Yes it is. And welcome fellow DF fan... Proud and so glorious Standing before of us Our swords will shine bright in the sky When united we come To the land of the sun With the heart of a dragon we ride! Ah. Glad to hear that. I'm listening to them right now. "So now we fly and we're free, we're free before the thunderstorm!" But I'm getting off topic.

After discovering this forum and being able to see SPC again for the first time in years AND after Cartoon Network has begun to re-air SWAT Kats, it got me thinking about all the old shows I used to love as a kid. Then I remembered Mighty Max. I used to LOVE this show. I still have an old VHS tape sitting around with a couple episodes, and I used to have like ALL the toys. There's so many lost gems from my childhood that need to be revived (SWAT Kats is on the way). Anyone else remember this show?

Next to SPC, this is probably my all time favorite animated show. Such an awesome series. Earlier today, my lil' bro was watching TV upstairs, and I heard the ending theme music from SWAT Kats and ran upstairs. I was like, "What was that show!?!?" He was like, "Some cat show." I can't wait to watch it tomorrow. Just when I was about to download all the episodes, too. P.S. Threaux, is your little quote under your avatar a reference to the band DragonForce? Because I them.

Has anyone ever played any of the Shadow Hearts RPGs for PS2? Shadow Hearts 2 is quite possibly one of the best RPGs I have ever played. It's got so much originality. Instead of using the stale ATB like Final Fantasy VII, they made a completely new system called The Judgement Ring. What happens is whenever you do any action in battle (attack, cast magic, use an item), this ring comes up that has colored sectors on it. A little "arm" spins around, and you have to press X whenever the arm falls on the colored area. There's a perfect area that's red, and if you hit X there, you do more damage. Of course, it's more difficult to hit because it's smaller. It really adds a whole new dimension to battles. As much as I love FFVII, most of the time I'd get into a normal battle and just hold O to just make everyone attack. The battles are actually a blast in this one. And Shadow Hearts 2 is quite possibly one of the funniest games I have ever played. I found myself cracking up throughout the entire thing. It's just so whacky. For example, one of the bosses is a giant pink cat (don't ask) and when the main character sees it, he goes, "That is one GIANT pussy." And one of the characters is a wrestler that uses random things he finds lying around for weapons. One of his weapons is a giant frozen fish. Unfortunately, the games are quite unknown because Midway simply had poor release dates. The first SH was released in the same week as Final Fantasy X, and the second was released among more popular RPGs. And the third one is coming out in March, right around the same time of Kingdom Hearts 2. It's going to get overlooked once again. Anyway, I cannot freakin' wait. I feel like I'm 5 years old waiting for Christmas. It looks like it's just as whacky as the first. One of the characters is a giant female cat who uses drunken fist style, and the drunker she gets, the stronger she is in battle. Another character is a female vampire who sucks calories from enemies, and when she's sucked a lot out, she gets extremely fat and strong. I just can't wait. For a preview of the new game (which includes a much better explanation of the Judgement Ring than I could ever give), check out this video. Also, check out the official website. www.shadowheartsnewworld.com

Yeah, I'm REALLY excited for this. EarthBound was one of my all time favorite games for the SNES. Sure, the battle system completely ripped off Dragon Quest, but it's still a great game. It was a really quirky and humorous, and I loved it. The enemies were fantastic (Master Barf was a riot). The game had fantastic atmosphere and the music was awesome. God, I need to play this again.

I grew up watching SPC (I think Robotech, SPC and Sailor Moon were the first anime series I saw), and to this day it still remains one of my favorites. There really isn't anything quite like it. But yes, I know what you mean about those anime you mentioned. I was never able to really get into Inuyasha or Naruto. It just really didn't hold my attention. I mean, we all have our own tastes, but I think that many of these shows are overrated, with fanboys claiming "ZOMG! BEST ANIME EVAR!" I actually heard some kid at my college claim One Piece to be the best show ever devised by mankind. But yeah, there's nothing really quite like SPC. It is indeed a "diamond in the rough." The one series that almost comes close in my mind is Excel Saga. Very whacky and very quirky, and it's one of my favorites. Oh, and I just have to say that I actually liked Sailor Moon when it was being aired.

I also noticed that the other day. But that really happens a lot with many voice actors. The voice acting community is relatively small, and a lot of the actors work on the same project. For example, I was looking at the English Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children VA's on imdb.com, and I noticed a lot of them shared some projects in common. Some ones I remember are Doom 3, Evil Dead: Regeneration and some bit parts in Family Guy. But yes, it is indeed cool how the SPC voice actors are (kinda) doing something together.

I don't know what reminded me of the show, but the other day I decided to search for some SPC torrents, and to my surprise, I found a 5 gig torrent of the entire series. Granted, the quality of a lot of them is subpar, but with Tsuneko doing his encodes, I can slowly replace the crappy looking VHS rips. This is the first time I've seen the show since I was probably 9 or 10 years old, and I forgot how awesome it is. I don't remember it being even half as funny. I watched the first episode last night, and I was in stiches throughout most of the thing (the aging Ninja Turtles thing really got me ). Dare I say that this show surpasses Excel Saga in terms of whackiness? Even though the translators didn't refer to the original script, they wrote some pretty brilliant dialogue. I'm so happy I'm able to see this show again!
