Recently some of us have been using the IRC channel to converse with one another. Everyone is invited, but it seems that in some cases the complexity of IRC is a moderate barrier. The simplest way to join the channel is to go through Esper, but the layout you will find there is rather crude. Even so, it works and you don't have to worry about downloading an IM program and trying to figure out how its IRC plugin works. To jump on the channel through Esper, do the following.
1. Go to Esper.
2. In the right hand corner, you will see Chat Now. Click it.
3. Type in the name of our channel. It is cleverly hidden at the top of this page. ( #samuraipizzacats )
4. Pick a very witty nickname and click connect.
5. You're there.
IRC is somewhat like DOS (nostalgia) and there are plenty of obnoxious commands that can be run through it. For a livelier interface, grab Trillian (or Adium, Pidgin, ChatZilla, mIRC, etc. . .) and Google a guide on how to use IRC through it. All you really need is the channel name and the server.
Jump on whenever you can. It's better than spamming the Longest Thread or board sitting.
