1  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / Re: Kyato Ninden Teyandee Figure on: May 10, 2012, 01:18:58 pm
I was wondering if it would be an convention exclusive too, Blackcat. I thought the recent Super Festival might have had it on display or even for sale, but I looked through dozens of photos from the con and didn't see anything. I imagine if it had been there someone would have snapped a photo. Then again, maybe they did but I could have missed it!!  Yikes!

Probably just delayed...

I used to have a wacom (graphire4 series I think it was), but it died Sad I've been looking at the bamboos--they look very nice, especially the pen&touch. If you know where to find one for cheap, please PM the link to me Speedy Wink

Yeah, but this one is creative, seems to be made by a fan, and is actually legal merchandise. I can go buy any number of SPC t-shirts online, but they are all just random people's attempts to profit off of others' work. I imagine those black-market stuffs using ripped-off artwork will be shut down soon enough with the upcoming DVD sets. I've already noticed the old knock-off DVDs are getting much more scarce.

But I hear you, Noah. Some good fan-made merchandise would be cool... I think Pizzacat (or some other talented artist, coughlikemaybeExpressocough) should draw something for a tshirt and sell it to us around cost.

I would love to do something like that but I've never been good at drawing the pizza cats Sad guess I could buy a sketchbook and practice, huh

I saw this t-shirt today: http://www.redbubble.com/people/glenoneill/works/6640963-faster-pizzacats-kill

It's a pretty cute design--I may have to buy one.

This looks so nice; I can't wait!  Speedy Cerviche

Is this the same figure as was alluded to in those Artstorm ES Gokin pics? Fingers crossed they'll show off some prototypes of the others at the upcoming Super Festival this April. Great to hear that they are planning more than just the one figure!

6  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / Re: Korean Plastic Model Kits on: November 25, 2011, 11:02:07 am
Just dropping in to say I've finally found a Korean Speedy/Yattarou/"No.1" kit... also picked up another Guido with alternate box art. The Speedy kit seems much more rare than the Guido kits. I've seen several more of the same Guido but they have been too expensive for me to bother picking up, since I already have one for my collection.

Anyway, hopefully I'll find some time to upload photos of the alternate Guido and the No.1, Speedy, in the next day or two. If not, in the next few weeks, hehe

Oh I hope I find some soon.

I doubt you'll be able to, as they're very rare. But who knows? Sometimes people get lucky.
actually, I might be able to find some more... if someone really wants one, just PM me and I'll see what I can do. prices are all over the board here so I can't make any promises of good deals...
7  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / Korean Plastic Model Kits on: September 26, 2011, 10:24:32 am
Oops, I've been sitting on this for a while and meant to post it here but I guess it slipped my mind... I was chatting with another forum member tonight and was reminded of it so did a copy+paste job from the quickly-thrown-together page I made up shortly after I acquired this item. Check this out, it was news to me!

Japan saw the release of several KNT plamodels. I've always thought they were pretty cool and wanted to get some of them. Unfortunately they are pretty rare in The West and I have always managed to miss out on them when they came up for sale. Recently, however I stumbled upon another interesting item. Apparently South Korea saw the release of some SPC / KNT merchandise.

I recently picked up a Korean version of Japan's plastic model kit for Sukashi (Guido). Check out the pics below.

Instead of being called by its Japanese or Western title, the series is referred to here as, simply, "Ninja Cat." Instead of referring to Guido by name, he is just "NINJA CAT ROBOT no.2" -- and you can furthermore see the reference to, in one of the side shots, Speedy being released as "no.1"

I haven't stumbled across any of the other kits in the wild yet, so I can't say for certain if Korea saw any models other than the two male heroes.

Too bad I don't have a Sukashi kit from Japan or I would offer some comparisons between the two. Guess I'll have to see if I can find a good deal on one to check out the difference in quality and such.

( More pics of the box and contents are available at http://squarenipple.com/cabbage/plamodel.php )
8  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / Famicom game (price) on: September 19, 2011, 08:39:03 am
Just ran across this page ( http://vgstats.blogspot.com/2011/08/famicom-price-guide.html ) which catalogs all the Famicom game sales on ebay for one year. Here's a quote from the original page explaining how they got their data:
Quote
Methodology
Includes all Ebay listings with the word "Famicom" in the title from August 23, 2010 through August 22, 2011. Only includes single loose carts (no lots, or any with a box/manual). A total of 4,356 games were sold over the 365 days, for an average of 11.93 per day.
Only sales from the American Ebay site were included, in American dollars only. However, this does include many carts sold from Japan (easily the majority, I'd say).
Only official licensed releases were included - no pirates. No Famicom disk system games either (sorry, I wasn't interested in them - besides, they're much less likely to be found loose).
Only games with at least 3 sales are included below in the guide. So that ends up being 392 titles.
All prices below are for the total price, including shipping. I live in Illinois, near the middle of the country, so it should work out to be pretty fair. The average price was $13.77 shipped for all games (median = $11.05).

I did a quick browse-through and saw that the KNT Famicom game averaged a going rate of US$27, including shipping as explained in the above quote, for an officially released (non-pirated), cartridge-only sale. That seems fairly accurate, but I wish it were a bit lower--I'd love to get a complete copy (box+manual) for a decent price, but if cart-only costs nearly $30 I shudder to think what the going rate is for a complete one. Maybe the ones I have seen in the past, which I thought were way overpriced, were reasonable after all...

Anyway just something I thought was interesting and might be of use to someone on this forum.

9  Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / The "Real" Pizza Cat Pizzeria on: July 10, 2011, 05:00:35 am
You may remember the article in one issue of the Pizza Cats Review newsletter about the "real" Pizza Cat chain operating in South Korea. Well, I am in Seoul at the moment and was just flipping through a coupon/advertising booklet that was left on my door to see if anything looked good. On the last page I saw an ad for Pizza Cat pizza. I've ordered from them in the past out of curiosity and it wasn't that great... maybe some day I'll give it another go and write up a proper review or something.

Anyway I was happy to see they are still around and decided to take a quick photo--nothing new to it really, you've probably seen it all before if you have checked out their website. I could upload a higher resolution version or even a translation if anyone is interested--although it's fairly straightforward what it's on about hehe.. but frankly I've got bigger fish to fry and better stuff to update my fan-page with ^^;

10  General Discussion / Tech & Video Gaming / Re: Classic Gaming on: June 20, 2011, 11:26:55 am
Yikes! eh? surprised to see some of these games are now considered 'classic' or 'retro' (feeling old these days; time flies!)

Nice picks, tsuneko. How about Civilization too? Populous?

I think I spent the most time playing point-and-click adventure games on my PC back in the day. King's Quest, Quest for Glory, Maniac Mansion, etc. I still love them, what a great genre!

I recall playing a lot of stuff I got on Happy Puppy (anyone?) too--not to mention otakuworld. Hunt the Wumpus ate up way too much of my time, hehehe. and the odd MUD for good measure.

guess i probably played more console games than PC overall, though

edit: on-topic, is this the only officially licensed home-video release of SPC material?
12  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / Re: Marketing gimmick on: May 19, 2011, 02:45:22 pm
D'oh, it's obviously the same poses/designs as the official KNT game's art, just poorly redrawn by someone who probably wasn't familiar with the series... how could I have missed that Yikes!

BTW, just noticed there's a couple of pirated knock-offs of the KNT game up on ebay right now from a seller in Thailand. If anybody has ever wanted to play it on a real famicom but is too cheap or poor to buy the official one (which can be a bit more uncommon and/or expensive) they're each under US$20 shipped with buy-it-now. This one cracks me up Grin (see attachment below, stolen from the auction listing)
13  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / Marketing gimmick on: May 19, 2011, 01:30:45 pm
Hmm, not sure if this is the right board to post this since it's not an ebay/currently-for-sale item... but anyway...

Recently I picked up a Korean 6-in-1 famicom game with Pizza Cats characters on the front. Obviously I thought it would have the KNT Famicom game as one of those six, but apparently not Guido Confused Strange, I guess the company that produced it must have hired a graphic designer or artist who is a fan? I don't know. The same company produces other multicarts, and I know at least one of them -does- have KNT on it... just not this one Yikes!

I don't remember seeing these particular drawings of the cats before, maybe they were custom made for this box design, or more probably stolen from someplace else I don't recognize (your thoughts?). Pretty strange anyway to see SPC used as a marketing ploy, but I guess it worked on me ^^;

(and no, I don't know what GamGuer is supposed to mean... Game... Gear??? what?)

Tigriss~ too bad about the condition issues but congrats on expanding your collection ^^

I'm surprised how many characters they made into these little toys... any ideas on how big the full set is? Violet? anyone? Would love to have a complete list someday!

I dunno much about guestbook RP'ing--I think this is the first I've heard of it... curious to know more.
If anyone knows what kind of software is needed to run a guestbook RPG, I would be happy to host one on my SPC site...
anybody have a link to an example RP board so I can have a look?

18  Samurai Pizza Cats / Game Projects / Re: SPC / KNT Sprites on: December 04, 2009, 02:23:35 pm
I found a bunch of SD gundam sprites ( here: http://forums.stencyl.com/showthread.php?tid=4326 ) that I thought could be pretty easily modified into SPC sprites...

I made a little speedy image. Here it is at 3x zoom. I think it's pretty bad but I thought I'd share it anyway... maybe it could generate some discussion re: what people are looking for in sprites or something. Shouldn't be too hard to animate if there is a desire for such a thing...
19  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / SPC VHS on: November 28, 2009, 05:54:08 am
I ran across another item listed as "Samurai Pizza Cats, Good VHS" being sold on ebay from London.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Samurai-Pizza-Cats-Good-VHS_W0QQitemZ250533271053QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_DVD_Film_TV_Videos?hash=item3a54f2560d#ht_812wt_1165

There's no pics or information about it, so I am pretty curious about what it is... Starting bid is GBP 5.14.
Did a google search on the product # and found this page:
http://astore.amazon.co.uk/cheap--21/detail/B001DXG0EI

I wonder if it's just homemade recordings from TV on blank tapes, or what... hmm.
