Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Francine's

Can't believe I'm posting here again after all this time but I just had to share this one. My family and I were on holiday in the Lake District last month and while we were there, I spotted this restaurant (can't remember which town it was in at the minute). As soon as I saw it, I thought of SPC and figured you guys might appreciate it. What do you think?

The amazing thing about SPC/KNT is that the people involved, from the voice talent to the fans, just love this franchise; it doesn't matter how long it's been since it aired because, at the end of the day, the love (and passion) is still there.
Too true; thirty years on and there's still a place in my heart for the show. Lately I've been letting my little niece play with the SPC soft toys I had made - in fact, I've been fixing them a bit (sticking on loose parts etc.) for her. Hopefully some day she and her brother will want to watch my DVDs too! BTW, anyone know if there's a version of the book relating to the US version of the show in the works?

I have run into a lot of people that haven't heard of this show, and...honestly, it makes sense to me. This show, while a lot of fun, just looks like the type of show that was a modest hit. In fact, I didn't start watching this show until 1997, and that was years after its original run. When the show first appeared in the UK, I was ten years old and Motormouth, the kids' Saturday morning show it was on, said it was "taking the UK by storm". To this day, I still don't understand why they said that because in reality, it never really took off. I never knew anyone else who was into it and I still don't, apart from everyone on here.

Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / SPC figures - painting advice needed!
|

Hi guys, I'm looking for a bit of advice! A few years ago I bought two SPC figures and I'd like to colour them. I was told at the time that I needed to buy a certain type of base paint to start the process with but I can't find the thread, so I don't remember what it was. My plan is to put on the base coat, colour them with permanent markers or something similar, then varnish them to protect the colour. Any ideas?

Mine arrived yesterday and they're in perfect condition, apart from each having a piece missing; it's nothing major, though. Probably the likes of wings or weapons but I can do without those. I'm planning to paint them - anyone know what kind of paint would work best on the type of plastic they're made from?
They're made of PVC, a plastic not usually meant to be painted apart from waterproofing paint for pipes in bathrooms. As a plastic modeller myself I'd say you should use something that wont melt the figure itself. The best thing would be to use a Vinyl-ish base paint that moves with the plastic and then paint it with acrylic. Plastic models don't usually come in PVC except pre-painted. Thanks very much for that! Sorry about taking so long to reply but this is the first time in days that Edo's let me in (see my post in the "Trouble Accessing Edo" thread in the Hosting section).
