1  Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Francine's on: October 20, 2023, 07:19:25 am
Can't believe I'm posting here again after all this time but I just had to share this one.  My family and I were on holiday in the Lake District last month and while we were there, I spotted this restaurant (can't remember which town it was in at the minute).  As soon as I saw it, I thought of SPC and figured you guys might appreciate it.  What do you think?   Francine
2  Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Re: Did SPC Re-Air? on: October 20, 2023, 07:09:01 am
For me (I'm in the UK; Northern Ireland, to be precise), it re-aired a few years after it first appeared on TV.  They had it on over the summer holidays in 1995 and I remember recording it.

The amazing thing about SPC/KNT is that the people involved, from the voice talent to the fans, just love this franchise; it doesn't matter how long it's been since it aired because, at the end of the day, the love (and passion) is still there.

Too true; thirty years on and there's still a place in my heart for the show.  Lately I've been letting my little niece play with the SPC soft toys I had made - in fact, I've been fixing them a bit (sticking on loose parts etc.) for her.  Hopefully some day she and her brother will want to watch my DVDs too!  BTW, anyone know if there's a version of the book relating to the US version of the show in the works?

Just found my way back here again today!  How's everyone been?
5  Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Re: Would you recommend this show to the younger generation? on: February 12, 2017, 11:19:01 am
I have run into a lot of people that haven't heard of this show, and...honestly, it makes sense to me. This show, while a lot of fun, just looks like the type of show that was a modest hit. In fact, I didn't start watching this show until 1997, and that was years after its original run.

When the show first appeared in the UK, I was ten years old and Motormouth, the kids' Saturday morning show it was on, said it was "taking the UK by storm".  To this day, I still don't understand why they said that because in reality, it never really took off.  I never knew anyone else who was into it and I still don't, apart from everyone on here.

I'm planning to show it to my nephew and niece when they're old enough; I want them to be able to enjoy it like I did.  In fact, the last person I recommended the show to was a fella my folks and I met on holiday last year who was well into his anime - he'd never heard of it!
7  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / SPC figures - painting advice needed! on: February 05, 2017, 05:54:38 pm
Hi guys, I'm looking for a bit of advice!  A few years ago I bought two SPC figures and I'd like to colour them.  I was told at the time that I needed to buy a certain type of base paint to start the process with but I can't find the thread, so I don't remember what it was.  My plan is to put on the base coat, colour them with permanent markers or something similar, then varnish them to protect the colour.  Any ideas?

It certainly does seem that way lately... I try to check in every so often and provide what little support that I can, but there's only so much that can be done about that..  Undecided It saddens me to see a once very talkative community turn into a ghost town.

Yes, that is a real shame.

11  Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Re: How many of you are buying the DVDs? on: October 26, 2014, 11:34:39 am
Have Discotek started doing international shipping yet?  Because if not, I may have to stick to my (admittedly very well put together, with proper artwork and everything) pirated copy from Ebay.
12  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / The latest batch of SPC stuff on Ebay on: March 14, 2014, 08:06:49 am
Ebay has a fair few SPC things at the minute; they've got three pages of cels and DVDs.  Just a shame no-one seems to be doing any Region 2/Region 0 versions of the complete series.   Sad
13  Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Re: OFFICIAL SPC and KNT Boxsets to be released by Discotek Media! on: March 14, 2014, 07:51:32 am
I've only just got around to checking this out (shame on me for taking so long!  Embarrassed ) and I've discovered that Discotek only ship to the US and Canada.  What about us UK/European bods?

15  Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Re: What affiliate/station did you watch SPC on, and when did it air? on: May 27, 2013, 01:33:57 pm
I watched it on two stations over the years: ITV in 1991, when it first aired on Motormouth on a Saturday, and then on UTV (Ulster Television, Northern Ireland) when they decided to repeat it during the day in the summer of 1995.  As far as I know, it's never been on TV over here since.

Brilliant news!  Anyone know when these'll be out and how we can get them?
18  Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Re: When did you first watched this show? on: January 25, 2012, 12:48:33 pm
Back in 1991, when I was 10, one of the Saturday morning shows (Motormouth, I think it was) showed some episodes.  I've been a fan ever since and was delighted when ITV started showing it again in the summer of 1995.  I never knew anyone else who was into it, though!   Sad
19  Samurai Pizza Cats / General SPC Discussion / Re: What Pizza Cat related thing have you done lately? on: December 18, 2011, 05:32:55 pm
I've just watched The Cheese Who Stole Christmas.  Didn't get watching it last year, so I made up for it this time around.
20  Samurai Pizza Cats / SPC Merchandise / Re: Nyanki Figures on: April 17, 2011, 01:56:07 pm
Mine arrived yesterday and they're in perfect condition, apart from each having a piece missing; it's nothing major, though.  Probably the likes of wings or weapons but I can do without those.  I'm planning to paint them - anyone know what kind of paint would work best on the type of plastic they're made from?
They're made of PVC, a plastic not usually meant to be painted apart from waterproofing paint for pipes in bathrooms.
As a plastic modeller myself I'd say you should use something that wont melt the figure itself.
The best thing would be to use a Vinyl-ish base paint that moves with the plastic and then paint it with acrylic.

Plastic models don't usually come in PVC except pre-painted.

Thanks very much for that!  Sorry about taking so long to reply but this is the first time in days that Edo's let me in (see my post in the "Trouble Accessing Edo" thread in the Hosting section).
