Holy cats, my house in the Sopranos?!

I just got a call from someone saying that my house has been chosen to be in the Sopranos!

I told them it would be okay to film there and they said they would send some guys over to take a look at the place either tomorrow or Friday. I sure hope this is true and not some kinda scam!

I'd provide more details but I'm too excited to say anymore. I'm so happy! ^_^

Dude, I smell bogus.  The process seems too informal to me.  Frankly, I'd be surprised that they didn't provide some sort of assurance (number to call back to, letter head on a letter, ext.) for you. There's reason why they'd only give you one or two days to decide, other than to keep you from contacting the filming company in time.  They'll probably suggest that you leave the house for the duration, in which they'll have ample time to do what ever they're going to do (or just grab you there and then).  If I were you, I'd call it off.

If it's too good to be true, it usually is.

I don't know about this. I say wait for it. Don't pay anything, don't say anything. I think it's a scam as well.

I'd have to agree with Andy. If you have to pay any money with out getting anything in return, it's definatly a scam. This one's got Bad Bird written all over it. Or Megatron. Either way, this smells fishy.

But, Hey, if it's the real deal, congratulations and let us know if there are any updates.

To those skeptical, there's a good chance this may actually be true.

The guy on the phone had said that they had sent some scouts over to our area on 2003 to find some suitable places to film.

Sure enough, about 3 years ago, someone with a Sopranos tag on his shirt did indeed approach my mom while she was raking the leaves in our front yard. He told her that our house looked to be a desirable setting for a scene in the show. Unfortunately, due to my mom being skeptical about everything, she told him she'd have to talk to my dad about it. He left and we never heard from him again...though my mom did give him our number and she still has the card the scout had given her...

So whaddaya guys think? I'm really not that surprised about this considering we live just a few miles away from a bar where they film in the show.

Could be fake. I mean, the person left when your mother said that she needs to talk to her husband for this. That says something. So, I wouldn't go onto this just yet. I think this is still a scam.

It's been confirmed. These guys are the real deal. One of their location scouts came over to take pictures of the place. Here's the card he gave me...



I don't think scammers give out cards like that.

However, it turns out my house wasn't exactly chosen for the show, at least not yet. It was chosen as a good candidate for the show and there were other houses the scout had his eye on so our place might not be filmed. The guy said that our house looks nice though the only problem is that it looks a little too nice. He also said it was for the last two episodes of Sopranos and they needed a safe-house for this one scene. At no cost to us, they could modify our house (refurnish, repaint, etc.) to make it look a little more rundown and then later modify it back the way it was.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed my house gets picked.

Well, the man does seem to be involved with Sopranos.  The only discrepancy that I found was that he was listed on many sites as a location 'assistant', rather than a scout.

Make sure that all your valuables are out of the house before they 'refurbish' it.
