Goemon Mystical ninja

Does anyone know this game "Goemon Mystical Ninja"?
I got Goemon 1-4 and I can't go on in the fourth game.
There are four characters: Goemon, Sasuke, a girl who can change her form into a mermaid and ibimaru, a fat little blue ballet ninja.
Sorry my explanation is bad, but the game is originally japanese and my japanese reading isn't good enough to tell you the right names....
Okay in fourth game you have to play seven level with each character. I played the level with the mermaid and sasuke completely, but in the goemon level and in the Ibimaru level I can't go on.....
Every character has specials: Goemon got a pipe to hang on trees and that stuff, Ibimaru (blue ballet ninja) can change his form into a ballet girl, sasuke can climb onto trees and walls and the girl can change her form into a mermaid.
There has to be a way to change the character in the level, because one level by each character has to be playin with another character out of this level, for example a level normally playin with sasuke has to be playin with Ibimaru to go on.
But I don't know how to change the character in the level.
If anyone knows this classic ninja game and can help me, please post.....
thanks a lot

i know the first SNES one and the first N64 one. plus, i've checked out three of the Famicom ROMs, and two SNES ROMs (Mystical Ninja, and this 3D one that starred Ebisumaru).
i gotta say, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon was one of my fave N64 games. despite being so easy, it still has plenty of witty dialogue, and there's even a canned laughing you'd hear sometimes.
i also remember the villains (and one of their names just sounded funny to me), as well as their four lackeys, or as Goemon would call them, "weirdos".

it'd be nice if they release that one outside of Japan, too.

Yeah, lets write a letter to Konami and ask them...
Do they have an email adress???
I wish they would do that, but this will just happen in dreams...

(this post is how I love Mystical Ninja)
Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon is in fact the most awesome n64 game ever.
Its Goemon
Ebarismu (something along those lines)
Yae (green haired chick)
And Sauske
But anywho...
Mystical ninja is the only game I know that has a laugh track, giant fighting robots and lots of singing.
So before I begin to go off way off topic:
Gourmet Soup Sub has the best music in the world.

I saw this gamne at my local rental store a while ago(N64 one). I didn't rent it cause I didn't like the cover art. If you need a memory thing too, then thats probably why I didn't get it

Edo period Japan, with a modern twist- I like it
Been playing the older games on emulation. They're good fun. The N64 one is fantastic (I just got it, and I've just got Sasuke). They make good use of humour, in this. Loving the canned laughter
BTW heard of the New Age Goemon series?

They've lost the comic element of the Gambare series, but fortunatley, Gambare is still going, since they've released a game for DS.

Ah, the N64 game... I finished the game years ago but I don't have it anymore. It's very cool to instantly switch between characters the minute you got them and they perform all kinds of neat moves. The music in the big 'dungeon' type of levels are so groovy as well as the Goemon Impact battles.

Which reminds me of a very important thing I forgot to mention, in my previous post. Sometimes, when you switch to Goemon...
He says 'Teyandee!'

Ganbare Goemon (known as Legend of the Mystical Ninja in North America and Europe), is a prolific video game series produced by Konami.
The games revolve around the main character Goemon, and his exploits. As the name suggests, his character was loosely based on Ishikawa Goemon, the noble thief of Japanese folklore. While the early games of this title emphasized Goemon as a noble thief, he eventually becomes more of a standard video game hero character. His appearance trademarks would be his blue bushy hair and weapon of choice, the Kiseru.
The universe of these games is of a cartoony, mystical Feudal Japan, where every bit of folklore and legend about Japan are true. But it includes things like robots, and giant Mechas like SPC/KNT did. In fact one of the main characters, is a robot ninja!.
Although the series has its roots in action adventure, the Ganbare Goemon series features games from a diverse set of genres including RPG, puzzle game, and board game. Ganbare Goemon has proven to be widely popular in Japan, as along with its long video game series (which continue to this day), a wide series of merchandise, and several anime and manga series have been created based on it.
While the series has been popular in Japan, overseas it is a much unknown franchise, with only four games released. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja for the Super Nintendo, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon and Goemon's Great Adventure (Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon 2 in Europe) For The Nintendo 64 and Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for the Gameboy.
Main characters
Goemon:
The star protagonist of the series. A hot-blooded man of Edo, he has a strong sense of justice and will right whatever wrong there is in front of him. (Renamed "Kid Ying" in the North American release of "Legend Of The Mystical Ninja" for the Super Nintendo. In the North American releases of Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon and Goemon's Great Adventure, his name is correctly translated to Goemon.) He primarily uses a variety of smoking pipes as his weapon of choice.
Ebisumaru:
Goemon's longest standing partner and best friend: a surprisingly pudgy Ninja, with an equally puzzling eccentric personality. According to the Mystical Website of Goemon, this character is derived from Nezumi Kozō. (Renamed "Dr. Yang" in the North American release of "Legend Of The Mystical Ninja" for the Super Nintendo. In the North American releases of Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon and Goemon's Great Adventure, his name is correctly translated to Ebisumaru). He normally uses either fans or mallets as weapons. Ebisumaru also has a daughter named Mao, according to the Mystical Website of Goemon.
Omitsu:
The local belle of Edo. She is basically Goemon's girlfriend, although he lacks the courage to approach her. She is also a likely target of foes.
Yae:
A Kunoichi(female ninja) that works for the Secret Investigational Ninja, a secret organization of peace keepers. She often joins Goemon and Ebisumaru on their adventures under the same goal. In battle, Yae usually wields a katana, as well as her personal bazooka.
Monoshirii Ojisan (
Wiseman
): A brilliant genius of clockwork machines who lives deep in Iga. Although a good fellow, he is also a big pervert.
Sasuke:
A Clockwork robot Ninja. He was created by Monoshiri and often joins Goemon and Ebisumaru on their quest. A very naive and honest character. However, he also seems to have a switch that can make him from good to evil and vice-versa. Sasuke fights using all manner of weapons, including twin kunai, miniature explosives, and even his spiked topknot. He is based on the ninja Sarutobi Sasuke. He is nicknamed Sasuke the metal ninja!
The Feudal Lord of Edo and Princess Yuki:
The Rulers of Edo. Despite this, they do little that inspires leadership. More often than not, they too are preyed on by evil doers.
Goemon Impact:
A giant clockwork robot made by Monoshirii. With a frightful motif modeled after Goemon himself, it was built to help Goemon take on Giant foes.
Miss Impact:
A female counterpart to Goemon Impact. Was created by the Wise Man as a counterpart to Goemon Impact, and is modeled after Omitsu.

I don't care if I'm necromancing the topic, this
my
place of expertise. I'm willing to answer any Goemon-related questions you guys throw at me!
And yes, Goemon does say "Teyandee!" but nowhere near as often as Yattaro does. There's a lot of stuff that'll seem familiar when you compare it to KNT/SPC.

Well Yattaro is a parody character, while Goemon is just a character a a comical series of videogames, of course Yattaro is more exagerated. Dont you hate the "Future Goemon" series? Thanks god they arew back to doing the Gambare Goemon series...
any well know character + set things in a far away future= Bad idea
You heard me TNMT in the future thing?

Well, yeah. Yattaro's a more exaggerated version of Goemon's character archetype, like you said.
Konami apparently made the New Age Goemon because they felt that the series was starting to grow stale, and wanted to change it to appeal to a more modern audience. Boy, did it ever fail.
If you've played the DS game, you can find the New Age Goemon in a jail for "crimes against the franchise." There's also target dummies in the ninja village with his likeness. Haha, Konami.

I'm one of the few people who actually liked the PSX Version of New Age Goemon. Especially Goemon's big massive laser rifle

Don't feel bad Truro, at least some Japanese people liked it if they drew fanart of it. There was also a manga, I believe.
