The story of the Monkey King & "The Journey to the west" has to be among Asia's finest stories because it seems to be very popular.
Monkey Typhoon (Asobotto Senki Goku)
This anime is based on Chinese classic novels, and journeys to the west (like Gensomaden Saiyuki). Set thousands of years from now, a virus threatens the human race to total annihilation. Now a new Messiah has awakened, and salvation seems near. An alliance is formed with three powerful robots, or Asobots (Association Robots).
A human girl named Susie, a mysterious boy named Sanzou, and Goku, Jyou and Tongou all set out on a journey to look for 49 keys to save the world. They go west and meet others, including Meeyon, a mysterious girl and traveler who intends to find the 49 keys for herself, and Sheeyon, Meeyon's little sister who has a dark plan behind everything. Can these two be trusted? Can we trust Goku the bandit and his idiotic personality (not to mention his perverted attitude)? Can he really save the world along with Sanzou? Find out!
Basically there is a virus that infects Asobots(or mesobots, the pronunciation seems to differ in the Spanish version) makes them evil and powerful, so is just a matter of time before all Asobots get infected and try to exterminate the human race. Goku is forced to go on the quest because of a curse Sanzou put on him that makes him really weak against kids and women. There is also a big treasure hidden in that last city, the one they need the keys to get into.
Goku looks mostly human, but he has a face that looks like a monkey one, and he gets angry when they call him monkey, he has a robot horse called skywalker and a magic weapon...well remember some Staff Goku from dragon ball had? This one is metal and a lot better!!. He likes to chase pretty girls every time he arrives a town and the curse didnt change that much.
Joe(Jyou) looks is almost human, but we never see his mouth cause he has it covered ninja style, he needs lots of water to survive or he could die. Goku itself said he is invincible when battling underwater.
Tongo(Toungou) A fat cat that likes to eat, he is a good fighter.
Sanzou is the one who forced Goku on the quest, he said he can only remove the curse when they finally arrive to the last city, but I think that’s just a excuse. He has a magical flute that affects Asobots, but not the ones who where infected by the virus. He sometimes uses it to heal Asobots or power up Goku attacks.
Susie is just there to fill the role of the female that punish the hero and may end having a romantic relationship with him.She lost her dad in a atack some infected Asobots did to her city.
