OK.  This is the first time I've ever attempted an SPC RPG, so I don't know how it's going to go.  But, I'll worry about that later.

Here's the deal.  The game picks up right where the series leaves off.  Speedy, Guido, Polly, and everyone else is enjoying the peaceful and, um, non-robot infested Little Tokyo  (I mapped it out already, just need the right Chip Set.).  It goes pretty well for a time.  Then the Big Cheese comes back in a vehicle very reminiscient of the Doom Ship from SMB3.  Of course it's up to the SPC to take him out.

After a few hours of play, you finally get into a final confrontation with him, only to discover that a new, more sinister force is at work here.  Before you know it, all he-double hockey sticks breaks loose.  Looks like this is going to be SPC to end all SPCs.

Now, as the title suggests, this is the first in a multi-part saga of games (I have three planned so far, but it's not in stone yet).  So, don't expect everything to be resolved in this game.  However, I'll go over some of the neater features.

-You'll have 2 teams in the game, the SPC Team and the Rescue Team.  There'll be times when you have to switch between them to accomplish things, like hitting two switches at once, and things like that.

-Each and every character will have an ability, from Speedy's ability to run fast (gets out of those exploding fortresses easily), to Meowzma's ability to drill through soft ground.  Each character will be essential to completing the dungeons and to finding hidden items and areas.

-The SPC team will be able to summon the Catatonic and transform mid-way through battle.  (Yes!)

-Roaming Dungeon Monsters, my trademark.  (Of course.)

-A Point System, where you spend points on stats, instead of mindlessly building up levels.  (Lets you develop each character to your liking, instead of just pre-designating the abilities.)

-Not really a feature, but there'll be the use of Magic later in the game.  Every character can learn every spell through their point-buy system too.  So, do you spend the points on Stats, or on that healing spell you might need?

-Time Machine.  Travel through time to the past and re-live the events of episodes, like 'Stop Dragon My Cat Around' and 'The Nuclear Potato', to unlock different abilities and features.

Unfortunately, I have no really good screenshots to show you, (I started the game, but it looks really archaic right now.) but I can say that the soundtrack will largely feature music from SPC and KNT.  Other than that, you'll have to wait until I can get the resources I need to start this monster of a game.  But I can say without doubt that I'm getting there.

If anyone has any of the following resources, let me know.

Little Tokyo Chip Set (Outer and Inner, and detailed please.)

Any of the Animaloid Character sets.

Mama-San and Kid Character Sets.

Correct-looking Ninja Crows and Rude Noise (Dark Quartet) Character Sets.

Um, I think that'll do.  Oh, and Freida would help too.

Thanks.

No reason why he can't make his own.
And yeah... you should sorta be posting screenshots for your own game in your own thread.

(I'm so used to the Quote button being on the bottom...)

One of the things I'm doing is going over the Character Sets I have and recoloring them and touching them up to make them look more like they should.  (When I got Bad Bird, he had purple armor and a yellow beak, for instance.  I changed it to green and purple, respectively, things like that.)

Once I get the Character Sets down, I'll worry about the Battle Character Sets, but it'll be a process to get them to look right, since I have nothing to go on in this case.

However, I'm to the point where I need sprites of the Little Tokyo townspeople in order to get any farther in the game.

Hey bud, you got any instant messaging program?

Perhaps we can work together on this project, as two heads are sometimes better than one. Smiley

Sorry it took so long to get back.  Anyway, I don't have an IM program, but if you could help me with the Character Sets of the Little Tokyo residents (Actually, any characters would be ok.), that would really put the project forward.  I'm using RPG Maker XP, so they have to be 4x4 (4 frames in each direction) in a 128x192 PNG.  I can probably take care of the Battle Characters (I'll just use Anime Cutouts for them).  The thing is that I draw like a 3-year old, so it's difficult for me to make them on my own.  I mean, even with IDraw, and with XP, you have to do it in Paint, because IDraw isn't compatible...

(It'll be a bigger file than most, since I'm using alot of MP3s.  But I'll shave it down as much as I can as it goes.)

RPG Maker XP.. I tried using that, but in my opinion it just isn't as good as RM2k3. I dunno why, I just like the feel of it and the smoothness.

Ah well, to each his/her own.

I just recently secided to use it because there's so many more options for it (you can tinker with the RGSS script and totally change the Maker, for instance.  That'd make it easier to render the Pizza Cats, especially in battle.).

Update on SPC Beyond:

Still no pics, so for now you'll have to use your imagination.

-In addition to the above mentioned, each character will have different feats that can help them in battle, or in dungeons.  For instance, one of the feats for Speedy enables him to get a second attack each round, and it can be improved to get up to three attacks per round while using normal attacks.  Another feat enables Guido to use his Sunspot Umbrella to glide down from high areas, rather than falling and taking damage.

-Since Little Tokyo has been pretty badly busted up and your secret's out, Princess Vi has 'enlisted' (more like forced) you to aid in the reconstruction of her beloved city.  Expect to be able to develop the city to your preference (while forking out the cash).  In fact, you might make it better than it was before!

-Guru Lou is up to his old tricks again, with his inventions.  While going through the game, give him anything you find, and he'll create new items with the parts.  Who knows?  One or two of them might actually be helpful to you.

-You can help out Lucielle by buying Comet pieces from her.  Besides the reward you get from her, there just might be another use for the pieces, once you have enough.  (There's 100 pieces total to but, but their prices go up as she runs out of them.  Supply and demand at its finest, people.)

-It seems that the Rude Noise has been hanging around the Little Tokyo alleyways.  Rumors abound, but nobody's really sure what they're doing there.  Maybe you can find out on your spare time...

Now, these aren't the only side areas in the game.  However, you'll benefit greatly from checking them out.  I'm gonna try to get a good area of the game going so I can at least get some pics up for the game, so hang in there.

It should.  You'll just need RPG Maker XP to run it.  It's a good 35 MB to download, but if you haven't seen it, you should.  It's really cool, and I've already found some RGSS scripts that would be useful to the game I'm making.  Once I get the ones I'm really looking for, I'll update the progress again.

RM2K3 is the best version in my opinion, much easier to handle and get into it.

RM2K is buggy and tedious as well.

Good luck all.

Graal can't be beat. Too bad the offline support is pretty much all but gone.

Graal is an old MMORPG based on LTTP. It had an awesome scripting engine, but the staff has recently (past 3 years or so) made some bad changes, so as of now, you pretty much have to pay to get any use out of Graal.

A few updates:

OK.  I'm probably going to have pics up sooner than I thought, as I just came into a small cache of SPC graphics resources.

Due to Conversion issues, the game will remain with RPG Maker 2003 for now.  I do plan on making an XP version eventually, but until I get the necessary resources, I'll stick with what I can work with.

Finally, there's been talk going around that this is going to be related to the Starlance Saga.  Yes, that's true, so you can expect to see Chezni and maybe some of the other Nova Warriors popping in during the adventure.

This probably doesn't need to be said, but there will be many references to the fact that the characters are in a video game in the storyline.  It's just an SPC quirk, but it'll make it feel more like SPC.
