I was going to put this in the SPC mysteries thread, but I thought this subject would be better served without being buried within another topic.

This started as a simple specific question I wanted answered so I could have better details for my fanfics, pertaining to the whereabouts of the harbour/beaches in relation to the city. Previously, I had tried describing from memory, but today I wanted to actually see for myself. So I put on an ep. of KNT and freezed on the wide shot of the whole city. To my amazement, I found in place of where I always assumed the harbour to be, was actually a canal that cut off the city from what is clearly the beginning of farmland. Which leaves me to wonder WhereTF is the harbour???

My best guess is that it's farther east or west of the city. That or the city actually stretches farther south, past the small bit of farmland, and then to the harbour and beaches. But I really don't know. I figure that throughout the series, Little Tokyo is an ambiguous city. With exception to the vast wide shots, but I highly doubt that any detailed street view will match the wide shot perfectly or even loosely.

I simply don't have time in my day to download every episode and examine every outdoor shot of the city to find out. This is why I made this topic. We can find whatever part of the city we can, and try to make sense of it, if it's possible at all.

I would suggest the we start off by posting screenshots of LT and discussing what we see.

I'm not sure if that picture of little tokyo is right...maybe they just drew something and all those other places you'll see aren't even on that picture....

many old cities have their docks in lakes. that canal looks like its probably the main waterway the city is built upon.
anyoo, if i remember correctly, The Harbour is a level in the KNT NES game. in the game its on the west side of the level-select screen (which is the same shot of edo as in the intro btw).
hope that helps  Polly Wink

This map might be of some help. Looks like the harbor might be at the south (? There's no compass rose, so can't really be sure it's south...) end of the city. At any rate, it's down river from the Pizza Cat. In KNT, many of the place names given seem to reflect actual places in the real-world Edo/Tokyo, so studying the geography of that area might be benificial.

Off topic: I just noticed something really interesting about that map. Several of the characters are talking about a treasure hidden somewhere in Edoropolis. Seems like this might have been part of a promotional contest... since this map was originally 3 parts, each included with one of the "Mega Up" model kits, it might have been something along the lines of "collect and assemble the map, read the clues, and find the location of the hidden treasure!" Maybe if you sent in the correct answer on a postcard you'd win a prize, or something. Anyway, the characters offering clues are:

Big Al Dente "It seems that the treasure is at a place that sells food."
Bad Bird "Looks like the treasure isn't at the pizzeria."
Jerry Attrick "At the place the treasure's hidden, it seems there's a girl who recently made a debut in the entertainment business."

My conclusion: The treasure's hidden at Omitsu's tea shop.

Lucille "Seriously!? Wow, Omitsu's riiich!!" *missile volley*

Dude, thanks a lot. It certainly doesn't stay consistent with other wide shots of the city, but it does have it's own special details. At least we can see exactly where the Pizza Cat is in relation to the Palace.

You think anyone actually won a prize for finding the treasure? Quickly, felineki, it may not be to late! Mail in your answer! For great justice.
