I figured out why Chocolat was disqualified!

Greetings! I'm an Etoranger fan, and I've managed to watch some of the later Etoranger episodes on Youtube.

Somebody in a previous thread was wondering why Chocolat was disqualified from the Etoranger race, and I figured it out after watching the raw episodes:

What happened was at the night of the race, from Chocolat's point of view it seemed like she received a visit from Princess Aura herself. She said that Chocolat needed to start the race NOW, because that way Chocolat could finish Number One. She also said that she loved Chocolat like a little sister, giving Chocolat motivation to prove herself.

Well that's great! What was the problem, you ask? The problem was because of this Chocolat started the race TOO EARLY! She started the race long before anyone else, even though fatigue caused her to finish alongside Bakumaru. THAT'S why the gate was programmed not to let her in. She was unintentionally cheating.

So why did Princess Aura pay Chocolat a visit and ask her to start the race right away? I have two possible explanations for this:

One, it really was just a dream, like Chocolat thought at first. Chocolat dreamed Princess Aura personally visited her and wanted her to start right away instead of starting on time, and because she mistook her dream for reality she started the race too soon.

Two, it may have been an illusion planted by Bagi as part of a grand master plan to make Chocolat disqualify herself and make it look like Princess Aura's fault, to give Chocolat a traumatic incident and a reason to sell her soul to Bagi and become the evil Nyanma, thus carrying out Bagi's wishes by drowning Mugen in the sea in revenge.

Either way, the whole incident wasn't Princess Aura's fault; it was all just a horrible misunderstanding that either Chocolat caused herself or Bagi caused because Bagi's a jerk.

i see...that actually give a little more insite into why she couldn't cross the finish line. I still felt sorry for her either way...that and i think that it should have ended differently

How do you think it should have ended?

A lot of Etoranger fans thought, up to now, that Chocolat really was treated unfairly, but with the information I've provided, it's clear that the whole thing was actually Bagi's doing, and Chocolat really did cheat in the race although that cheating was not even remotely her fault.

So you should be blaming Bagi for sending Chocolat a false vision designed from the start to set Chocolat up for such a disappointment that she would allow Bagi to turn her into Nyanma and then wish to kill Princess Aura and all the inhabitants of Mugen; Princess Aura was not to blame.

I too feel sorry for Chocolat, though, I love her too (I love her much better than Nyanma, actually, although I think Chocolat should have been given a cuter voice).

Again, though, how do you think it should have ended? What could Princess Aura possibly have done, given that Chocolat really was accidentally breaking the rules?

well i always had the feeling that bagi was behind that happening...and considering she only wanted to be useful to Aura Hme In the end even as Nyanma she wound up helping the Eto Rangers...that being the case Aura Hime could have found something for her to do...and didn't have to banish her.

Aura DIDN'T banish Chocolat from Mugen, at least as far as I could tell from watching the raw later episodes. In fact, in Episode 34 (the Chocolat disqualification was shown in Episode 33), we see that once Aura figured out what happened, she sent Lydia, the male-reporter-with-an-unfortunately-female-name, after Chocolat to cheer her up. (The reporter had previously been taking pictures of the race, but didn't know why Chocolat was disqualified and then ran away until Aura explained to him what happened.)

But Lydia was unfortunately too late; by the time he reached Chocolat, Chocolat had already sold her soul to Bagi, Lydia could only watch helplessly from behind a tree as she turned into Nyanma.

Even after Nyanma reverted to Chocolat, Gao was able to convince Chocolat to stay in the final episode, which he wouldn't have be able to do if Aura had banished Chocolat.

then why is the last shot we see of her her walking away looking sad?

Anyway, it's not clear where Chocolat is walking to. She may just be returning back to her house, and is saddened over the negative reception she will likely receive from Mugen's citizens (whom she previously attacked as Nyanma, the citizens couldn't possibly have known that Nyanma used to be a very-nice-but-mischievous girl named Chocolat and that Chocolat does not necessarily have the same desires as Nyanma did). Or she may have voluntarily decided to leave out of remorse for wishing to drown everyone in Mugen alive as Nyanma. Or maybe it's just one of those "journeys to find myself" people sometimes take. We would have to see Chocolat's mental monologue during that scene translated to know for sure.

What I do know is that Princess Aura doesn't seem like the kind of person who would banish people. She just acts way too nice throughout the series for that (including what I said before about sending Lydia after Chocolat in the past to cheer her up, even though that failed because Lydia was too late); this is the girl who felt sorry for Nyanma at her worst, after all.
