Is my font style really obnoxious? Is it really that bad as to offend readers?

There is nothing offensive or obnoxious about it, but to me it feels a little uneccesary.

^This is exactly why I use this font. I like to make my posts stand out a little. Plus, I like blue.

Some people in other forums, however, seem to raise a huge stink over it as if I fried their eyes off...

ever had the feeling that when scrolling through walls of text of roughly the same size and then you bump into some odd formatting, it distracts you and you think that "man, this user... he's pushing his luck"

And this is all from just one forum alone. I've been called out over my font in at least 3 other forums. >_> I mean, WTF? If different font styles are a pain in the ass, why even bother including bbcode tags? I can understand typing in humongous letters and rainbow colors, but c'mon, what's wrong with Times New Roman and blue? Okay, maybe it's a little big and maybe typing in bold is a bit much, but even then I don't consider it hard on the eyes.

It's not about the formatting itself. The whole fuss is because you like to make your posts stand out a little.
Those who complain obviously think that by formatting you try to position your opinion as more important than others'.
As long as this isn't your real intention, I'm fine with it.

Personally I don't care which font you use as it's your choice! We've got the choice to use Tahoma Pink at 5pt if we want to, but we're used to not bothering with it. Plus I know which posts are yours!

As long as your text can be read without causing eyestrain, I'd say you're doing fine. ^_^
Heck, I used to get flack for using the tilde too much. I just liked doing it because I always felt it gave a little "waver" or "melody" to the end of a sentence.

It's not like you're breaking any netiquette laws... Well... None that I'm aware of.
If you were typing in all caps, then I'd say, "Yah, that's a problem."

I don't mind it. I've been to some forums where every single post is decorated with its poster's own personal "theme", including backdrops, borders, animated gifs, and such. That sort of thing gets a little annoying, but just bold, colored text is no big deal.

Honestly, yes, it does kind of bug my eyes. Not as much as Mikey's post (bad Mikey, bad! No cookie for you!) but enough to be slightly annoying. I think it's just that particular shade of blue combined with the bold that does it. Notice I've posted in blue too, but I only do that when I'm modding/making a note in someone else's post. You've been doing this forever, though, so it's your choice really.

Um, unless you're blue-yellow colorblind, I don't see how my posts would look any different to you since my text is blue on gray backgrounds. Hell, this whole site is colorblind-friendly; everything's blue and gray.
