Sorry gang, but new members will have to go through email validation. I didn't want to have to do it, but these spammers are hitting on a special nerve.

In other news, global mods now have the power to ban users, email domains & IP ranges.

I doubt the systems will conflict. It's simply an edit to a config file, not a hack.
