Among the ninja crows of the Karakara clan, a legend is told around the campfires.

It speaks of a powerful beast in the service of the ancient shoguns. As the story goes, the creature obeyed the will of the shoguns, fighting in their name, and crushing all who opposed them. The monster slaughtered their enemies and ravaged the landscape, carving a path of destruction across the country, setting the battlefields aflame and darkening the skies with ash. Once all of the shoguns' enemies had been vanquished and the beast's services were no longer needed, they lulled it into a deep sleep beneath a great mountain, where it would safely guard their greatest treasures.

That was a thousand years ago. As the centuries passed, the story became myth, and myth became legend. But the ninja crows still tell the tale.

To this day, the beast is spoken of in hushed whispers. Its very name is considered a curse. There are neither pictures nor any written accounts of the creature; it exists only in the woodcarvings and the oral history of the Karakara, passed down through the generations.

According to prophecy, the day of the beast's return will be heralded by the coming of a comet. And the Karakara fear that day. For it is said that should the creature's rest ever be disturbed, it would awaken from its slumber to lay waste to the land once more, leaving only ash in its wake.

At least... that is what is whispered around the campfires.

Oho. I read your Metroid fanfic and appreciated your style of writing. Most of what I see is poorly written/contrived ideas but you seem different.

Out of curiosity, will you be using the "Teyandee" world as a platform instead of the "SPC" world? I noticed you referred to the Crows by their original alias and wondered if it was merely personal preference or a facet of the story.

Now this is going to be good. I absolutely can't wait. For some reason I'm reminded of Douglas Preston's book "Relic". I'm sure this is different but I can't help but imagine the beast to be similar to the monster in that book.

Question: Is this beast entirely organic or does it have cybernetics like the animaloids? I guess I'll have to read your story to find out.

I guess I'll take this opportunity to tell everyone about a new project of my own. After spending some time with the RPs of Little Tokyo High, I figured that the best way for me to submit fiction of my own is in a serialized fashion. The story I'm going to tell is a cross-over the likes you have never seen before. It will debut on March 20th, my one year anniversary on these forums.

Advertising your own works in someone else's topic... hmm. Wink

Methinks I sense a breach of courtesy.

You wan't me to make another pointless topic just to announce my project? The topic is called Coming Soon. Which is exactly when my project is coming: SoonTM.

In the end it's up to the thread's master. Speedy Wink
At the moment I'm not worried about it.

Anyways... back to this "Back of the book" description of a new story from Sinder.
It sounds very promising. I like the darker tone, and it sounds like a nifty story. It does at the moment sound like a KNT-type story, which is fine. KNT & SPC both have great merits, and I see no reason as to why there shouldn't be some KNT fanfics! (Especially since we're learning more about KNT anyway.)

I don't see what the big deal is with calling the Ninja Crows Karakara in an SPC fanfic. Why can't they be both? The public refers to them as Ninja Crows because, descriptively, that's what they are. The name of the clan is Karakara.

As for referencing the Cats, I would have the public refer to them as Pizza Cats when they act as civilians and as the Secret Ninja Team (or just Ninja Team) when they are heroes, but NEVER the Samurai Pizza Cats. That's one thing that I really don't like about SPC. The inconsistency with their identities. In one episode they will say that their Pizza Parlour is their cover. Then in another episode, the public show how they know that the same cats who run the parlour are the same cats who save their city every day.

Don't you think naming your team the Samurai Pizza Cats is a give-away to who your civilian identities are? If I were Bad Bird, I would burn every Pizza Parlour in the city to the ground.

Point 1) It's not a big deal. Generally though, the Ninja Crows are never called by their clan affiliation in Samurai Pizza Cats (From all the episodes I've seen). If anything, they're "Officially" part of the Gorgonzola Gang.

Point 2) Bad guys generally are not allowed to know everything no matter how blatant it is. Also, everyone knows... The best place to hide anything important is in plain site. If I were to walk into a Pizza Hut and look at the servers / cooks / cashiers, no matter what I'd never think they were a secret ninja team.

As for the plot inconsistencies... I blame the writers.
That's the fun though about being a fan fiction writer. You don't have to worry about 90% of that stuff as long as you do your best to stick with what cannon is out there. Also, you can explain holes in the series using your own brand of plot-hole-filler.
