It's a Shymalan film? That seems odd...

Unlike the DB movie however (which I have yet to seen), this looks like it's going to be a more faithful adaption to the animated series.

from what i've heard, shyamalan is a huge fan of the show. his kids got him addicted to it, and whenever the show was on, it became a family gathering. he said he's always wanted to do a live-action movie because he has a lot of good ideas... but we'll see. it's gonna be hard to beat the original because it was so well done, but i'm sure he's aware of that.
i still remain on the skeptical side.

Thing is... I was a long time fan of Shamalamadingdong's work for a while, but then the Village came out.... Sucked... Then Lady in the Water.... Sucked... Then the god awful, gouge my eyes out The Happening... TERRIBLE.
I mean, my god, this guy has started out awesome with Signs and Unbreakable, then slowly went down the shitter into the abyss.
So my faith in this movie is kinda... Yeah, no further comment.

I don't know, unlike the DB movie, this one actually shows promise. Either this movie really does look terrible to some or I believe that loyal fans just don't want there to be a movie of a series. These days, it's like a movie adaption of a cartoon/game series is considered "uncool" just because of failed attempts in the past. The movies got to have some differences from the show otherwise it'd just be way too similar. At least, that's how I see it.

I will definitely not be seeing or supporting this movie, and I hope some other members here will back me up. As for why, aside from the usual bad changes that get made when adapting something for the silver screen, Hollywood's racial bias is showing once again. Go here for more info: www.racebending.com

wait, you're telling me that katara and sokka are played by white people and suko by a black?...thats pretty sad... still don't know why racism exist, to me its just I like someone or I hate someone, its not about where it's from

I don't care about race... but that is just BAD casting for those characters...I'll agree on that. None of them have any similarities to Katara, Sokka or Zuko.
Fail.

You can't make Ang white! Too late. It's not really the worst of the casting though, I could see a white kid playing Aang...but Sokka and Katara? that's horrible! It could probably be worse... And... dumb. Hollywood. 'nuff said...

I'm posting this here just because I'm a HUUUUUGE jerk. http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/avatar/teaserlarge.htmlFor the few who have heard me ranting and raving on this movie; I bloody well told you so... Now you may be thinking "wait a minute", how could I be taking credit on a prediction based on little-to-nothing? And you would be right to ask that. Scarce screenshots, and descriptive accounts of specialized screenings don't normally cut it for me getting excited for anything. I'm more of a seeing-is-believing guy. But this is twice that a gut feeling of mine has paid off (or at least promises to) this year. First with District 9, and now with this. Besides, this is coming from the director of my favourite Sci-Fi flicks. Take my *ahem* avatar as evidence. With the exception of Michael Bay waving is c*ck on the big screen and taking our money for it, this is proving to be a great year for science fiction. ..and don't worry, Air Bender; you'll have your turn. Not that I don't have faith in you, but you don't stand a ghost of a chance of attaining this quality. In other words: I can't lie to you about your chances, but you have my sympathy.

Wow, that is really cool. I wondered why the Last Airbender lost out on the title "Avatar" but now I know...
I HAVE to see that! That movie might just be worth the ticket I pay for to go and see it with!

Right now I'm 2/3 of the way through Avatar The Last Airbender again... and I still just love this series SO much. I even noticed a couple things that I completely missed before... it's like they threw it in there so you wouldn't get it unless you re-watched all the episodes.
Burkey is enjoying it very much, also ^^

I also just re-watched it and then I was wondering again if they ever wanted to continue the story, but I red that they didn't want to continue the story anymore but probably will make a new avatar story. strange though that they didn't finished this one, I mean, suko still didn't find his mother

I heard something about them wanting to do a prequel to the series about Avatar Roku (which would be book: air) but it was just a rumor.
