I was thinking, since March ends tomorrow, that maybe we should try to have something like an award ceremony that members of the forum can win. There could be several categories, with Member of the month as the highest honor.

Rules
    * You have to vote in at least five categories.
    * You can vote for one person in no more than five categories
    * Five people per category maximum
    * Put your choices in bold to make them easier to differentiate
    * Don't vote for yourself. Those votes won't be counted.

I was thinking something like these categories.

Most Intelligent Member(s):
People who continually show extensive knowledge on a wide range of subjects. (Anything from SPC to KNT to music and movies to politics and so on.)

Nicest Member(s):
People who are helpful and respectful to all members and are unbiased in who they treat well (as opposed to, like, treating newer members poorly, or treating people with bad grammar poorly, etc.)

Most Social/Charismatic Member(s):
People who are involved, responsive, friendly, and sociable to members. You know, those people who everyone likes. XD

Most Creative Member(s):
The most creative among EE, be it with their signatures or avatars, with their stories or their art or their role-playing, or just with how they post.

Most Introverted/Enigmatic Member(s):
The "mystery" members, people who are somewhat well known but nobody really knows much about them. These are the people who don't share much about their lives, keep to themselves, etc.

Most Widespread/mainstream Member(s):
People who are extremely well-known on EE, who're just everywhere and known by people all over the community.

"Don't Ever Leave":
The people who you'd be sad to see leave if they were to go, like you'd break down and cry if they left. u_u

"Quit While You're Ahead":
Those members on EE who should just stop while they still have their dignity. >_>

Favorite Male Member(s):
Mail male mile mule muck market park it.

Favorite Female Member(s):
Male, except with a FE on the front.

Favorite Moderator(s):
Mods who you think do excellently at their job, interact in the community, are nice to members and helpful when people need it, etc.

Favorite Administrator(s):
Same as moderators, except, well, Admins.

Most "Out of Step"/Strange Member(s):
Those oddities, the people who are a bit strange but you love them nonetheless.

Best Sense of Humor:
I think that's pretty self-explanatory.

And ofcourse

Member of the Month
That one member that shines above the rest

If you guys agree, get posting.
If not, Just delete it.

First off, thanks for the praise, Harmonex! Nice to know I'm someone's favorite moderator. :3 Now if only we could do something about that underscore in my name, lol...

Second, I love the idea of having an awards-type post on a monthly basis, I was actually thinking of doing something like that for a while but never had the time to serioulsy plan it, let alone implement it. I was thinking along the lines of having two 'commissioners', one for the SPC-related boards and the other for the non-SPC boards, who each judge based on who they think made the best post or best reply for each board during any given month. Those who would receive an award would have it pasted as 'belts' on their sigs by an admin or something. The belts would have to be an admin/mod-controlled feature because we wouldn't want people clinging onto them or forgetting to remove them when the next awards are given to new winners. I dunno if that's possible but it'd be nice if we could do something like that.

A voting system sounds like an easier and fairer way of awarding posters...if you can figure out how to tally people's votes effectively. If that can be worked out, it would save the trouble of having to find someone who's not only fair and impartial with his choices but also has no job and therefore plenty of time on his hands to look through everybody's posts.

So to anyone who's seriously devoted to actually making something like this happen, go for it and good luck. ^_^

BTW, I love your sig there, CloudBoy. Love the way Speedy's holding his sword, lol. Where'd you find it? Or did you draw that yourself? :3

While I support the idea of some sort of awards ceremony, perhaps we could focus on doing a yearly version instead?

I mean, if we were to do this each month, wouldn't it start to get a little old quickly? We've just hit 500 members, but how many of those are still active? And what happens if we go through a "quiet patch" like we have recently, or the same people start winning the same awards over and over? No offence TGL, but we all know that the "Quit While You're Ahead" would go to you nearly every month.

If we did something like this on a yearly basis, it would make awards given out seem just a bit more special. There's another forum that I lurk at that does something similar to this and it's massive. They all have an awesome time doing it. Some of the awards they have that could apply to us are:
- Best Story, Best Colour Image, Best Black and White Image, Best Artist, Most Helpful, Best Nutcase, Most Prolific Member, Rookie Of The Year, and a "Lifetime Achievement" award (I can think of six people here who deserve one of those!).

There could be even more that could be done, seeing as I don't know what goes on in the international or the RP boards.

It could get us some more members, as well as some more fanfiction and artwork.

Not saying we should definately do it though. Just something to think about.

Yeah, a yearly version would be better...

""Out of Step" Kyosaber, if you have read a few of the rpg he has been in, you will get that^^

Rule number 0: In Edoropolis, people can take up to one WHOLE MONTH to post in a thread, and sometimes, mostly on holidays and in some hot topics, people can go and post like every half an hour. So a yearly version is the best we can do here^^

I find it hard to believe people equate "Burkey" with "Sense of Humour."

Well, the categories don't have top be the same all the time. And I was thinking that whoever got Member of the month would get the "Honor" of doing the one for next month, with his/her own categories.

Also, whoever opened the topic is the one responsible for counting the votes and declaring the winners.

Just give it a try, and maybe it will work out.

I find it funny that a new guy is already starting Threads like "Member of the Month" when he hasn't even been here for a week.

Pure hilarity. Smiley

I declare myself guilty of lurking these forums for some time since 2006. I just never felt like joining.

And besides, these are stuff you guys could have done yourselves, it's just that I had both the motivation...... and time to do it.

Well then fellow lurker, welcome to the forums indeed. Surely you don't need an introduction on who I am and what I do, as I'm the badest ass to ever grace these forums. Grin

I agree that this might be better yearly.  Also there really shouldn't be any "Quit while you're ahead" because we don't need to be picking on people here.  There's enough of that elsewhere.

I think TGL wants that award.
Looking back on it...he can't possibly win it.
