You have to use a standalone IRC program such as mIRC, though.

No one is ever on irc.esper.net #samuraipizzacats anyway.  I've jumped in the room once in a while several times over the last couple years or so and not one person has ever been on, the room is dead.  Much like the alt.tv.pizzacats newsgroup people seem to have given up on it for other mediums of communication. 

That being said you can add a flash/java chat client to the frontpage of any forum which would tell you what people are in the chat.  You can simply join the chat and start conversing just by entering you username and password.  This would be the modern way to do it because people would be on Edoropolis anyway and it requires no extra software for forum users or messing around with IRC servers or channel names.

To integrate the full version into edoropolis would cost a one-time fee of 5 dollars (for the script from http://www.tufat.com/s_flash_chat_chatroom.htm.) I will pay for it if an admin is willing to implement it.
